2 is dangerously close to loss.

A simpler alternative

Lemminary@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 47d

I was expecting Loss, tbh.

Rhaedas@fedia.io · 9 pts · 48d

I had to look twice.

Olgratin_Magmatoe@slrpnk.net · 8 pts · 48d

Honestly loss wouldn't be a bad option either for when the lines are drawn terribly

Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works · 5 pts · 47d

That would be a new low.

GraniteM@lemmy.world · 41 pts · 48d (1 reply)

If you're pressed for time, there's always the Three Arrows

NostraDavid@programming.dev · 4 pts · 47d

The Three Arrows against monarchism, communism and fascism. Nice.

gnufuu@lemmy.ca · 40 pts · 48d (3 replies)

If you have to run away after step 1, don't worry. The Windows logo is still a slight improvement.

yuri@pawb.social · 14 pts · 48d (1 reply)

usually the lines aren’t straight anyways, i’ve turned a couple into quite nice windows xp logos!

elevenbones@sh.itjust.works · 7 pts · 48d

Yeah ive seen and done the same!

smh@slrpnk.net · 4 pts · 47d

Some older gas cylinders (like for welding) have the 4 boxes symbol. I've heard that they originally had a swastika, but after WWII the old mark was obscured for obvious reasons.

Ranger

DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social · 9 pts · 48d (3 replies)

The guy who was as strong as the whole team of normal Rangers?

The team where they were literally color coded by race btw, except for the gay boy in blue.

Maybe less of a recapture because of direct directorial mandates than you would hope is all I'm saying

JcbAzPx@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 47d (2 replies)

That was a rather unfortunate consequence of not reading ahead in the material. Not much they could do about it either, since they wouldn't have the budget to film enough of their own scenes in the costumes until much later.

Duamerthrax@lemmy.world · 11 pts · 47d

While the color coding could have been unfortunate coincidences, David Yost, the actor for the first blue ranger was bullied off the production for being gay.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Yost#Career

According to Yost, he was often called a "removed", and the producers frequently questioned other cast members in private about his sexuality. Yost left late in the fourth season after a week of contemplation and thoughts of suicide instead of continuing work another six months into the second film. He stated that the co-workers involved with writing, filming, and producing the show considered him "not worthy" to be where he was and that he "could not be a superhero" because of his homosexuality.

DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social · 5 pts · 47d

It's a consequence of the director being a publicly verified twat, but otherwise yeah. It certainly wasn't the intent of the original Japanese show runners.

Could have gone with White Powerless. Or White Bowery. White Plower?

Rai@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 4 pts · 47d

White Powerless is a great song from a great album by John Congleton!

NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone · 8 pts · 47d

I like that, even though it’s plainly not reversing the swastika.

bstix@feddit.dk · 5 pts · 47d

I like the one with the trash can better.

kamen@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 47d

That's both wholesome and at the same time too much work for something that's probably getting defaced the next day.

Lately I've been working on this theory that the strife in the 20th century was the result of abusive and ridiculous 19th century parenting styles.

OpenPassageways@lemmy.zip · 3 pts · 47d (1 reply)

There was plenty of strife in the 19th century too but the weapons available were not as destructive.

Imagine the US civil war if one side had invented nukes.

Imagine the Napoleonic wars if Napoleon had tanks.

HugeNerd@lemmy.ca · 2 pts · 47d

I wonder if Harry Turtledove wrote about that?

mirshafie@europe.pub · 4 pts · 47d (2 replies)

Yeah but nazis tend to draw the swastika the flipped.

step one will do it

SkunkWorkz@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 47d (1 reply)

That’s still a Nazi logo

HrabiaVulpes@europe.pub · 2 pts · 46d

Understandable.

Themosthighstrange@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 47d

Can i get this in sticker form please?

MithranArkanere@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 47d

I would prefer it if people reclaimed them instead of overwriting them. Like turning them into the center of colorful mandalas.

I would be nice if people were reminded more often that it is a wrongfully appropriated symbol, and anyone who willingly gives it away is acting as an accomplice to that, whether they realize it or not.

Mycatiskai@lemmy.ca · 2 pts · 46d

You can add little triangles to the end lines of each arm then a small building underneath and a swastika is now a windmill

TimeNaan@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 37d

I always drew a Windows 95 logo

OldChicoAle@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 47d (4 replies)

Just add 4 dots and it's the Hindu swastika.

ABasilPlant@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 47d (3 replies)

With two large caveats immediately apparent to anyone familiar with Hinduism:

  • the Hindu Swastika is not at 45° tilt

  • the Hindu Swastika is traditionally also never drawn in black, as far as I've personally seen. It's usually red / saffron.

OldChicoAle@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 47d (1 reply)

I'm Indian and Hindu. Please don't try to explain my own religion to me. It can be drawn in black.

ABasilPlant@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 47d

Hello from one Indian Hindu to another 👋

It can be drawn in black.

Hence my italicized "personally". I've just never seen it in black.

MrsDoyle@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 47d

An example.

Sorry about the quality... I downloaded it (it's my own photo, just not on my phone) and it appeared in the thumbnail for a random album, but wasn't in the album. Or any album. So it's a crop of the album thumbnail.

Project Swastik was a roads improvement programme in northern India. The swastika symbolises protection and it's ubiquitous in India (and Asia).

alapakala@quokk.au · -3 pts · 48d (19 replies)

this is, exploitable.

A404@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 4 pts · 48d (16 replies)

how so?

alapakala@quokk.au · -7 pts · 48d (15 replies)

Nazi re-revisionistically dogwhistling: Nazis can use this to dogwhistles with each other exactly how Norse symbols have been revisioned. Norse culture has nothing to do with Naziprop, but they can reutilize this.

I can def. see this as reclaiming tactics in say anarchist zones. But in neutral zones it could be utilized double-edged.

IndustryStandard@lemmy.world · 13 pts · 47d (11 replies)

Telling people not to paint over Swastikas that sounds like a dogwhistle

alapakala@quokk.au · -5 pts · 47d (10 replies)

Reading comprehension is something we all have to encourage. Try either finding a master tutor to guide you in antifa praxis, or rereading with a strong Black Anarchist perspective.

gnufuu@lemmy.ca · 5 pts · 47d (9 replies)

They might have read your comment better than you did yourself.

alapakala@quokk.au · -3 pts · 47d (8 replies)

Then they would be composting Nazis, and making better arrows.
But I am sure that's what the “not-worth-reading” had in mind, right?

gnufuu@lemmy.ca · 4 pts · 47d

Let's see. You called for a "master tutor" of "antifa praxis" but let's assume that was a joke. You posted a link to one of your own comments and described it as "strong". And now you're implying that your own comment, when read correctly, is able to single-handedly motivate people into direct acion. It all seems a bit patronising.

Duamerthrax@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 47d (2 replies)

You're really over thinking this.

alapakala@quokk.au · -2 pts · 47d (1 reply)

I wish.

where do you guys live where you see enough swastikas that you need to know how to alter them?

This feels like such an imaginary problem

GalacticGrapefruit@lemmy.world · 16 pts · 47d

Genuinely and truly, I'm glad you live in a place and move in circles where this doesn't come up. But it's still good to know how to do. Part of how fascist hate groups make their presence known is by stickering or graffiting hate slogans or symbols on walls. It's one of the ways they enforce their ideology.

Anti-fascist graffiti artists in places where a lot of hate groups operate tend to have their work cut out for them. This is essentially just a public service announcement, like how to rescue a thirsty bee.
