Is it controversial? Pineapple is a common ingredient in salsa here.

Saapas@piefed.zip · 24 pts · 40d

Same here. Some like it since it gives nice sweetness. I don't care for it.

On pizza it works with some toppings. Chicken hawaii is great for example

TomMasz@piefed.social · 14 pts · 40d (1 reply)

I was just thinking that. Mango, too. Nice for a change once in a while.

anomnom@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 40d

I like mango salsa with fish tacos since it isn’t always so sweet. Pineapple hits different though, but I’m willing to give it a go.

VitoRobles@lemmy.today · 36 pts · 40d (10 replies)

People who get pissy off of pineapple on pizza are so corny. It's like level 1 controversy types of foods. We got countries putting spaghetti and squid on pizza.

nullspace@lemmy.world · 14 pts · 40d (2 replies)

I'm convinced it was never the pineapple which set off their distaste, but rather the shitty ham that comes on hawaiian pizza from some chains.

Kolanaki@pawb.social · 5 pts · 40d

The pineapple being hot alters the taste a bit. I like Hawaiian pizza, but if I make it at home I put room temp pineapple on it after baking instead of baking it with the pizza because I want the tanginess more than the sweetness.

SayJess@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 4 pts · 40d

The shitty ham certainly did not help. Picking off the pineapple left sad in it’s place.

SocialMediaRefugee@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 40d (2 replies)

I have a bigger problem with putting tomato slices on pizzas. They are mostly water so they not only shrivel down to sad little strips but they leave the pizza soggy.

TubularTittyFrog@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 40d (1 reply)

you don't cook the pizza with slices on it. the go on after, or you used pre-cooked/dried tomatoes

cold sliced roma and fresh basil is pretty great on a pizza.

Waraugh@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 2 pts · 39d

I think this is the crux of my issue. I’m not a big fan of pineapple in general but if it’s paired and made well it can taste good. I’m not always in the mood for it but I’ve mostly learned to order pizza that is difficult to screw up. Similarly, the only times I’ve ordered a pizza with tomato slices they put the tomato and herbs on it before blasting the fuck out of it in the pizza oven so I just don’t order that anymore. You are correct however, I’ve made my own at home and it’s drastically different/better. I just usually don’t want pizza enough to make one. If I’m making pizza it’s for a group.

CanadaPlus@lemmy.sdf.org · 2 pts · 39d (2 replies)

As far as I can tell, people mostly complain on the internet. IRL it's always on the menu and nobody comments about it.

VerilyFemme@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 3 pts · 39d (1 reply)

One time I ordered a pineapple pizza at a cafe/game store with a room where we were staying the night. The person taking my order gave me shit for it when I ordered, after the group ordered, and when they brought out the food.

Not playful banter or little jokes, just legitimately talking about how gross my order was. Chicken & pineapple pizza for reference, I think it was even a named special on the menu.

All that to say, they exist and they are just as infuriating IRL.

nomy@lemmy.zip · 2 pts · 39d

Pizzas are like burgers, tacos, and salads to me. I've had enough "fusion" food to know they're just vehicles to deliver the toppings you enjoy. The skys the limit IMO, go nuts there's no rules, do it however you like.

tigeruppercut@lemmy.zip · 1 pts · 39d

The most "normal" thing on pizza I don't like is corn. I like corn in general but I don't want it on my pizza (although not enough to not eat the slice if someone hands it to me).

But then again Japan puts a lot of odd things on pizza, like canned tuna and dollops of potato salad.

What kind of monster puts broccoli on their nachos?

titanicx@lemmy.zip · 13 pts · 40d (3 replies)

This is some white level 100 shit.

Etterra@discuss.online · 5 pts · 40d (1 reply)

Shit I'm 100% white but at least I have the good sense to have lucked into the original gene variants that recognize bitter vegetables as poison.

CanadaPlus@lemmy.sdf.org · 2 pts · 39d

Yeah, but, they aren't. They're good for you. Is that actually lucky?

Doom@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 39d

Well obviously yeah - because of the cheese. Brown people are lactose intolerant.

NottaLottaOcelot@lemmy.ca · 5 pts · 40d

Someone trying to eat their nutrients? The pineapple should overpower the taste

0ops@piefed.zip · 29 pts · 40d (2 replies)

Ok I'm ready

...tha fuck, is that broccoli?

rustydrd@sh.itjust.works · 11 pts · 40d (1 reply)

It is.

arin@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 40d

I love this! I will try it

graycube@lemmy.world · 29 pts · 40d (17 replies)

With broccoli!

MummifiedClient5000@feddit.dk · 26 pts · 40d

That's the real crime here.

theunknownmuncher@lemmy.world · 16 pts · 40d (13 replies)

I also like broccoli on pizza a lot.

rustydrd@sh.itjust.works · 12 pts · 40d (2 replies)

Me too! When we both inevitably go to hell for our culinary sins, we should hang out!

theunknownmuncher@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 40d

Yeah that's cool with me

elephantium@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 39d

SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 40d

Get out

thejoker954@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 40d

I've never thought to try that. I'm definitely gonna have to.

PumaStoleMyBluff@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 40d (1 reply)

Do you roast it beforehand so it's not just soggy steamed bits?

theunknownmuncher@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 40d

It just comes out roasted, browned, and slightly crispy with the pizza. Nothing special for it. I cut the pieces pretty small/thin though. If you want big pieces then I think pre-roasting would be smart

NutinButNet@hilariouschaos.com · 1 pts · 40d (5 replies)

What other toppings do you do with broccoli?

theunknownmuncher@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 40d

Anything, everything. Basically supreme? Onion, mushroom, olive, pepperoni, ham, cherry tomato, whatever. Wouldn't really do pineapple with broccoli but pineapple has it's time and place.

AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 40d (3 replies)

Beef, onions, and brown sauce

theunknownmuncher@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 40d (2 replies)

Is brown sauce like bbq or "chinese" (USA chinese restaurant) brown sauce? Because one of these options sounds completely batshit insane to me but also I'm the one putting broccoli on my pizza so... maybe??? Would try

AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 40d (1 reply)

The latter. I built and worked at a fusion Chinese pizzeria.

theunknownmuncher@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 40d

😲

Yeah I'd try it

timbuck2themoon@sh.itjust.works · 4 pts · 40d
UpAndAtThem@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 40d

Yeah, pineapple? Totally fine. Broccoli? Straight to jail!

trijste@lemmy.ca · 28 pts · 40d (5 replies)

I fuck with pineapple. It’s like bbq sauce in fruit form.

otp@sh.itjust.works · 16 pts · 40d (3 replies)

I fuck with pineapple. It’s like bbq sauce in fruit form.

Maybe it's because I don't use BBQ sauce during sex, but I don't understand fucking with pineapple

southsamurai@sh.itjust.works · 10 pts · 40d (1 reply)

Easy, you core it out, and fuck it!

akwd169@sh.itjust.works · 4 pts · 40d

Warm it up in the microwave a bit first

trijste@lemmy.ca · 3 pts · 40d

Not saying you’re missing out but you could be getting fruitier.

sicarius@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 40d

Pineapples contain bromelain, an enzyme that breaks down proteins, even in human flesh, earning them the nickname "the fruit that eats you back".
I passed out while eating a pineapple drunk once to wake up in the morning with my face all burnt.
I would not suggest sticking your dick in it.

SnarkoPolo@lemmy.world · 19 pts · 40d (1 reply)

Al pastor has pineapple. I like that.

cecinestpasunecommunication@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 1 pts · 39d

The last time I had street tacos without pineapple was... I think I was in the Midwest. They were not good. I think they used a flour tortilla and I think the lady serving me was Italian.

SalamiDommie@lemmus.org · 14 pts · 40d (3 replies)

I don't mind pineapple on pizza. And pineapple of nachos sounds awesome. With jalapenos, red onion and meat?

Yeah, gimme

Event_Horizon@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 39d (1 reply)

Right? Sweet, hot, salty, savoury and fatty all in one bite.

nomy@lemmy.zip · 1 pts · 39d

I can confirm that chicken, jalapeno, and pineappole are great together. I'd try those nachos in a heartbeat.

Alberat@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 39d

what about pineapple steak

impairedimperator@lemmy.zip · 12 pts · 39d

People that don't like pineapple on their food are just not adventurous enough to get digested back.

Some people can only dish it, I guess

viral.vegabond@piefed.social · 11 pts · 40d (8 replies)

I am morbidly curious, what all is in this?

cybervseas@lemmy.world · 14 pts · 40d (1 reply)

Sadness

viral.vegabond@piefed.social · 2 pts · 40d

🤣🤣🤣

Ledivin@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 40d (2 replies)

Looks like half is just cilantro, cheese, and a tiny sprinkling of pepper flakes, while the other side had that plus pineapple, broccoli, and some sort of roasted potato?

I can get behind the pineapple, though I'd argue that it needs to be grilled. The rest of these nachos seems not very well thought out. Why are we doubling up on the carbs with the potato, everything is cut way too large for nachos, and the flavors don't go together at all.

Sturgist@piefed.ca · 4 pts · 40d

Nah, pineapple side has either chunks of chicken or potato as well.

10000% agreed with the grilled being required....and also the general quality of the nachos being sub-budget-cinema level

rustydrd@sh.itjust.works · 3 pts · 40d

It's not potatoes, it's a vegan chicken substitute. It works pretty well, not the first time I made this and won't be the last.

rustydrd@sh.itjust.works · 5 pts · 40d

Right part toppings are vegan chicken, corn, bell pepper, broccoli, all fried/tossed with spices™, cheese, and said pineapple. Left part is just cheese. The green stuff on top is cilantro.

nightlily@leminal.space · 2 pts · 40d

Totally does. It's one of my GF's favorite comfort foods, so we do it every once in a while

Kichae@lemmy.ca · 7 pts · 40d (1 reply)

There's a popular pub here that's had pineapple on their nachos since... forever, I think. They're good nachos.

I don't get why everyone's continually upset at pineapple. It's not like they're bananas!

rustydrd@sh.itjust.works · 4 pts · 40d

Takes note: Try banana nachos next.

FrowingFostek@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 40d

I'd fuck this up so quick. I've been on a pineapple kick for a while now.

Dry_Monk@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 40d

I used to make these all the time. Based mine off of some tacos from a now-closed Denver restaurant. Mine featured spiced ground beef, pepper jack, caramelized piña, diced avocado, black beans, and a light drizzle of habanero mayo. Dang, now I'm hungry.

kinkles@sh.itjust.works · 6 pts · 40d

TIEPilot@lemmy.world · -9 pts · 40d (12 replies)

My guess is someone(s) took offense in another sub I posted in and are skimming my history DV everything. Childish, eh?

I appreciate the support my friend and thanks for looking out!

qevlarr@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 40d (11 replies)

I have you tagged as an actual nazi. That's not "I guess someone disagrees 🤷‍♂️". You should be banned.

TIEPilot@lemmy.world · -10 pts · 40d (10 replies)

But I'm not a nazi? And why should I be banned? Because I have a different opinion than you?

NotASharkInAManSuit@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 40d (5 replies)

What might that opinion be?

blartcap_@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 2 pts · 40d (4 replies)

They insisted the Patriot Front is not a white nationalist organization and that they're just proud American patriots, and that there's no real fascism in the US that would necessitate antifa.

TIEPilot@lemmy.world · -4 pts · 40d

Never said that.

qevlarr@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 40d (3 replies)

Ok, you don't use the word nazi. How would you call your political views and defense of fascist paramilitaries?

TIEPilot@lemmy.world · -9 pts · 40d (2 replies)

At no point did I defend them, I said they wear masks just like antifa. Also why are you stalking me to another sub to harass me? I'm pretty sure this is actually can get you banned...

Also for the other stalker, you're blocked for being a nub that can't answer a few simple questions...

NotASharkInAManSuit@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 40d

I found this organically, as there are like 12 posts in total on lemmy, but for backstory he stopped responding to others and myself pointing out his cliche’ nazi rhetoric in another post. He also thinks that having a job says something bad about you as a person.

Edit: Also, he was very much defending patriot front scum.

Etterra@discuss.online · 1 pts · 40d

Antifa isn't a group, dimwit.

FauxPseudo@lemmy.world MOD · 1 pts · 39d

I looked through the comments you reported and looked at the reasons for them from the information that survived your banning in the other group.

I can't see any reason to take action on those reports. No rules were broken and from what I can see it appears that their comments accurately reflect what happened elsewhere.
