Since you’re going to continue attacking random strangers based on almost no information about them, you come across as a miserable judgmental person. Not everyone cares to do a research project before making a comment on the internet and no amount of people with shit attitudes and a superiority complex is going to change that.
Having past events to look at doesn’t inherently make analysis of a sufficiently complex issue any more certain, it’s just another data point. The title was specifically used to draw an emotional response and it achieved that goal by at least one person. Concluding the argument with ‘there’s no precedent so we can’t say’ is lazy at best but the reality is the title was chosen for the exact reason you blame the audience for delivering on. Tons of information can be broken down and analyzed in a way that even aspects of it would have comparable historical events. I doubt the economists that did the research would devolve their efforts into ‘eh, no clue, never happened before, we’re really only able to have ideas about things that have historical patterns which is really inconvenient’.
What the commenter was doing is expressing frustration over a failed system the article is covering. Calling someone stupid for expressing frustrations in an online comment over a failed system the article is about seems detached from reality or overly emotional and self centered. Stop jerking yourself off sometimes and recognize people will respond to things with emotions at times, especially on something with the barrier of entry being ‘can access the internet’.
Spreadsheets are cool. Where they fall apart they fall apart spectacularly from people insisting on using them as an alternative to a database solution, in my experience. It doesn’t generally matter for normal user centric use cases but I’ve also had to perform a post bankruptcy audit on more than one company that trying to over leverage spreadsheets of duplicate, inconsistent, over saturated, and unreliable data was at the very least a significant contributing factor for the doors being shut.
Over ten contract managers all with their own version of a spreadsheet that tracks reportable items for their contracts and gets rolled up to a master spreadsheet via formulas that financial business decisions gets made from is the first immediate example that comes to mind.
Things that don’t follow the way I understand physics and technology to work. I enjoy sci-fi stuff a bit but when it doesn’t ’work’ I have trouble suspending disbelief and enjoying. Time travel is an easy example, I find most media with time travel to be exceptionally frustrating and taxing. Bending space, worm holes, silent floating and fast aircraft’s. An antidote just immediately saving the world without any production at scale or logistic considerations, not to mention geo politics, just magical gets into everyone’s systems so the world is saved. It can make brainstorming really difficult for me. I’m not sure if those examples help or not, it’s what immediately came to mind, I’m sure there’s better.

I think I might have an imagination fault in addition to ‘can’t see things in my mind’ (which I thought was completely made up that people could just picture things in their head, it still freaks me out even though I’ve accepted it) fault. I can imagine things of course but only in like a practical reality sense. Like my mind doesn’t have a bridge to ‘maybe’ kinds of theory unless I can make it make sense along the way. That’s not to say I don’t imagine things that make sense in my head that would be complete disasters, because I do, regularly, and peer review has saved me countless times. I don’t know how to explain but the more I hear about how other people’s brains work it makes me think mine is broken and constrained significantly for some reason.
I get as much enjoyment from technical books that I read for career and personal reasons as I do fiction, so I usually read non fiction as it at least has a purpose for me. I wonder how much is related to my not being able to visualize anything.
There is risk but you will still receive standard care if you got the initial care somewhere else. It’s just factually wrong that a medical professional, dentist or otherwise, is going to refuse work because somebody else did the initial work unless they’re a quak. It happens all the damn time.
