"Fighting for custody of his organs" is an incredible turn of phrase. That Ronaldo guy should be a poet or writer.

A lot of my friends have very creative idioms and the like. I have a ravenous appetite for things like this

A friend of mine has described an unpleasant bathroom experience as "birthing a hooved animal". Makes me laugh every time I hear it.

ReptilianCleric@lemmy.zip · 1 pts · 5d

Once had a friend comment, "have you ever felt like you should apologize to the toilet for what you just did?"

The look on the host's face was priceless.

Eat some fiber once in a while, folks

darthelmet@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 6d (4 replies)

Idk what it is, but I think I get plenty of fiber in my diet but I still regularly have problems with this. My doc told me drinking water with the fiber is important, but I’m pretty sure I’m already drinking lots of water too. So… idk, if it gets bad enough maybe I’ll go look into it some more.

wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz · 15 pts · 6d

Could be your gut microbiome. Try eating more fermented foods and probiotics. Yogurt, kombucha, things like that.

Also, be aware of the difference between soluble and insoluble fiber. Pay attention to which one you're getting the most of and see if getting more of the other one helps.

Ephera@lemmy.ml · 11 pts · 6d (2 replies)

Getting regular physical activity? Even just taking a walk helps by applying mechanical forces...

Echolynx@lemmy.zip · 5 pts · 6d (1 reply)

This is a big one for me cause I'm often sedentary due to work. I've noticed a nice long walk helps.

Feathercrown@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 5d

Taking a walk is also a great way to quell queasiness, making it an excellent combo of solutions when you're sick on the toilet. Seriously, try pacing around the room.

And don't abuse opiates

JoeBigelow@lemmy.ca · 4 pts · 6d (6 replies)

Then just how the hell am I supposed to wind down at the end of the day?

Stegget@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 5d (1 reply)

Perhaps with a nice, satisfying BM?

JoeBigelow@lemmy.ca · 2 pts · 5d

Can't, too many opiates.

village604@adultswim.fan · 2 pts · 5d (3 replies)

Take a bunch of immodium instead. (Taking a shit ton of it has similar effects to opiates)

JoeBigelow@lemmy.ca · 1 pts · 5d (2 replies)

Does it? I've heard that it can be useful for chasing WD away, but wasn't aware that it got you high. Something about delta kappa mu receptors? But I use kratom, which used to actually make me go, but finally does seem to be having traditional effects. I have a gut many expensive doctors have all failed to diagnose though so, shrug.

village604@adultswim.fan · 2 pts · 5d (1 reply)

Yeah, it's known as Lopers. But you have to take something like 200 pills, which any doctor will tell you to absolutely not do.

JoeBigelow@lemmy.ca · 2 pts · 5d

I don't think there is any pill that taking 200 of is not a terrible idea.

Sometimes you just need more skin touching air, sometimes it's the sweat making tattle tale creases.

Sometimes just need to feel free

How does she know about that, though - are they the kind of couple who don't lock the bathroom when they're going about their business?

SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 6d (14 replies)

How paranoid do you have to be to lock the bathroom door when you're poopin'? That only makes sense if you've got little kids that don't yet fully grasp the concept of privacy.

Even closing the door is unnecessary with close family. Besides, the cats like to hang out while I'm doing business.

rumschlumpel@feddit.org · 12 pts · 6d (9 replies)

Yuck, who wants to have poop smell in the rest of the house/apartment?

Locking the door is the quick and easy way to signal that the room is occupied, knocking and/or asking and waiting for an answer would invariably take longer and create uncomfortable situations whenever someone doesn't remember or doesn't have the patience to wait for the answer or is just visiting and assuming that everyone locks the door when they use the bathroom.

SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 6d (8 replies)

Does your bathroom not have a fan?

A person visibly sitting on a toilet is an even clearer signal, though.

Anyway, the smell signals the cats that it's time to hang out in the bathroom.

rumschlumpel@feddit.org · 5 pts · 6d (3 replies)

It does in fact not have a fan, and frankly I doubt that a would keep the smell completely out of the hallway if you leave the door open.

The cat can get fucked.

SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 6d (2 replies)

Don't fuck cats. That's nasty.

Not even a window in the bathroom? That's also nasty. In my country, bathrooms are required to be ventilated.

Also, most shits shouldn't reek so much the odor fills multiple rooms. That's a separate issue.

rumschlumpel@feddit.org · 4 pts · 6d (1 reply)

Depending on the direction of wind, an open window might blow the poop smell into the rest of the house/apartment even harder. Just close the damn door FFS.

SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 6d

You don't maintain a positive pressure in your home? No wonder it smells like shit.

AzuranAurora@piefed.ca · 4 pts · 6d (3 replies)

I live in a 60 year old apartment building, there is very much not an exhaust fan. The smell radiates throughout the apartment if you don't close the door.

SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 6d (2 replies)

I live in a 100-year-old house and every bathroom is ventilated.

AzuranAurora@piefed.ca · 2 pts · 6d (1 reply)

There is no windows and no fans in the bathroom in any of the units here, and every apartment I've lived in over the years didn't have them either. It doesn't appear to be a code violation here, though the codes may differ between houses and apartment buildings.

SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 6d

Stinktastic.

CarbonIceDragon@pawb.social · 8 pts · 6d

I lock the door out of habit any time I'm in there, even if I'm home alone and just shaving my face or something.

undefined@lemmy.hogru.ch · -1 pts · 6d (1 reply)

People literally walk in if you don’t lock it despite obvious signs like the light underneath the door.

SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 6d

Right, so leave the door open so they can tell it's occupied.

Ephera@lemmy.ml · 2 pts · 6d

I assume that he took the shirt off as he was walking out the room, before goimg into the bathroom...

scytale@piefed.zip · 5 pts · 6d

I first read that as “took his entire shift off” and thought yeah that’s not normal. Way worse than just taking your shirt off.

Ypsilenna@lemmy.zip · 4 pts · 5d

I misread "shirt" as "shift," and I was like, "damn, 8h to take a shit? What was he eating?" lol
