Proton is using that as a marketing gimmick. Swiss banking secrecy laws have absolutely nothing to do with user privacy outside of that.

Proton has complied with and handed over user data on multiple occasions.

Yes there is encryption and they can't see things, but they will hand over what metadata (IP address, device info, recovery email, payment data) they have whenever a Swiss court compels them too.

Slashdot. I have a very low 3 digit UID. I followed Rob Malda's blog before he registered the domain.

I remember having Netscape open on the site and reading it. I walked a couple blocks to by a pack of smokes. Got back home and refreshed the page. Noticed a new post with site registration available, so of course I did.

To this day I still get password reminder requests to my email that I never sent.

I still comment and sometimes get some people replying noticing the low UID.

Silly I know, but it's cool to me anyway.

I've been to Venezuela twice for some extended stays. First time when Chavez was still around. Second time when Maduro was a couple years in office. I can still remember listening to his radio addresses. I remember feeling the heat off the asphalt in the city, the crazy traffic, the beautiful beaches.

Looking down from the hills onto the canopy below and seeing fireworks at midnight Christmas Eve into Christmas. I knew id never be back as it was dangerous AF then (2013 last time).

We would say it was once a beautiful country but now it's just a beautiful land.

I remember in the mid 90s I was looking at Linux World's website and they had just implemented account registrations that same day. I was fuzzing the website and they had left directory browsing enabled and the users, passwords, and email was sitting in a plain text flat file that was world readable.

I emailed them, didn't get a response but within the hour the registration/login was disabled along with no more directory browsing.

My wife's brother married into a very super Catholic latin-american family. These are the people that have 2-3 separate birthday parties for the same person and everyone in the extended party is expected and required to attend all of them. Like a nephew has a birthday on a Tuesday, so there's a dinner and party on that exact date for that. Then another on a Saturday (all day and into late night) for dozens more people to attend, then the friends from school party at a bounce house or some shit on a Sunday.

Christmas is awful because Christmas Eve is an all day thing until the morning early hours, then Christmas Day all day until late night, and of course it's someone's birthday a couple days after. So there's the expectation of all attending all the events throughout the week.

They expect everyone to assimilate into their traditions, their religion, their schedules with nothing but relentless guilt tripping if you have other plans.

My wife is too nice to do anything, I've essentially removed the filter when explaining we'll do a little bit on one or maybe both for Xmas eve and Xmas for a couple hours. And just ONE of the birthday parties for the same person.

It's just relentless and never ending. Even being there is joyless as you're constantly required to stand there for 10 minutes at a time to take photos. Standing somewhere when you want to sit, or vice versa. Then after many hours and you want to leave or takes an hour to get the fuck out of there with all the goodbyes and corralling the kids and getting guilt tripped for leaving.

God damn I hate this time of year.

Respectfully, I am incapable of driving and need to get to doctors appointments and no longer live in an urban environment where cabs and public transportation is highly accessible.

It is what it is.

I am not an MD but I was told this by one. But yeah I gotta wipe a bit of I'm not on my primary throne that has a bidet attachment 💩💩

I just eat a whole grains (brown rice, not white. 100% whole wheat etc) and plenty of fruits and vegetables that naturally contains fiber in addition to many other beneficial nutrients.

Your stool should be the consistency like toothpaste squeezing out of a tube. Mine is, albeit I go 2-3x a day , but I'll take it!

I spend way too much on my smart phone. That's correctable, but I depend on Uber/Lyft. I think I would need to get a cheap android and just have the discipline to put only essential apps like ride share, maps, encrypted messenging and like nothing else. Not even email, Lemmy, bill pay, grocery delivery, etc

Former acute agoraphobic here. I spent years unable to leave my driveway due to crippling panic attacks. I wanted to end it all.

It took a long time but I got better. Now I can get on airplanes, overseas travel, etc.

But early on in recovery when I was beginning to function and hold down a part time dishwashing job, I learned that diet and exercise were key.

I lived mostly off fruit and vegetables exclusively and had a simple cardio routine and that really was night and day for ME. Your mileage may vary and everyone is different.

Now the only time I really experience anxiety is when I'm hungover. I have since switched to a Mediterranean diet with some occasional fish, still work out, and it's mostly behind me 20 years later.
