100% this

Everyone else is heretics

You start at the top of the pentagram, because that's Spirit. You hit the other elements and end at Spirit.

spankmonkey@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 1y (8 replies)

I do it this way because it is the closest to how I was taught to write letters.

418_im_a_teapot@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 1y (7 replies)

Do you write a capital A starting at the top?

deo@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 2 pts · 1y

yes

spankmonkey@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y (5 replies)

No, but upper case BDEFHIJKLPRTUVWXYZ all start at the top.

phlegmy@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 1y (3 replies)

I write BDFPR from the bottom.
Though I'm also a heretic who starts G from the middle, so don't listen to me.

spankmonkey@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y (2 replies)

Do you also start the number 6 in the middle?

phlegmy@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 1y

What? No. That would be crazy.

418_im_a_teapot@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 1y

True (and happy cake day) but the star looks most like an A to me, which I think is why I write it the same way… 4135

lemerchand@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 1y

In the Golden Dawn tradition (if I read and recall correctly) you start with 1 to 2 if invoking and 2 to 1 if banishing (which is probably the more common of the two)! Yay knowledge no one asked for 🤣

ChicoSuave@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y

Heretics are where I would expect lots of experience in expressing sigils

Diddlydee@feddit.uk · 2 pts · 1y

The correct way

ccunning@lemmy.world · 63 pts · 1y (6 replies)

Really?! 524135

…and does no one go counterclockwise? I would have guessed it was less common and biased towards lefties, but there most be someone, right?

…also, whoever did 13542 is fired.

pennomi@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 1y

moonlight@fedia.io · 6 pts · 1y

Same! It seems the obvious way to do it – starting with the one horizontal line.

I think this or the lefty version would produce the neatest stars.

TheHotze@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 1y

I do the same, although I am a righty.

SCmSTR@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 2 pts · 1y

I scrolled too far to see this.... I didn't know people were doing stars so differently.

finitebanjo@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y

Yeah FR that bro who went 54 did not draw a fucking star.

gofsckyourself@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y

I've never really thought about it that hard, but I have noticed that a lot of times I have trouble getting the star to fit the spot I intended and it winds up being squished and/or lopsided. I've always used 13524, but 52413 makes a lot of sense for solving that issue.

mariusafa@lemmy.sdf.org · 54 pts · 1y (14 replies)

52413 anyone?

Krauerking@lemy.lol · 16 pts · 1y (8 replies)

You start with a straight line. It literally makes the most sense cause it decides the size of the star as well.

TheRealKuni@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 1y (5 replies)

Any of them are straight lines and decide the size of the star. Some of us are more refined and can handle diagonal sizing.

Krauerking@lemy.lol · 4 pts · 1y (4 replies)

Weird flex to call someone unrefined for how they draw a star. Not very refined.

TheRealKuni@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y (3 replies)

For someone on lemy.lol you sure take things too seriously. 😉

Krauerking@lemy.lol · -1 pts · 1y (2 replies)

Aww cute. Still not gonna just take you being rude though cause you can read.

TheRealKuni@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Bruh, you’re on lemmyshitpost, not lemmybetakenseriously.

Krauerking@lemy.lol · -4 pts · 1y

Your comedy is lacking.

BlueMagma@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 1y (1 reply)

You meant vertical I think, but get it, this order makes sense even though it wasn't my first instinct

spongeborgcubepants@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y

horizontal

Dry_Monk@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 1y

This is the correct order. 5-to-2 sets the width of the star, which is important when writing multiple identical stars next to each other.

spicehoarder@lemmy.zip · 6 pts · 1y

I like this method because it let's me angle the star however I want

salacious_coaster@infosec.pub · 3 pts · 1y

Yes. I can only imagine Light Yagami doing 52413 in the Death Note

LifeInMultipleChoice@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 1y

I was sad that I didn't learn that until high school. Never drew a star any other way after that. The young woman who taught me I can't remember, but the star.... I'll always remember haha

grueling_spool@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 1y

This, because it's how i remembered it being drawn in Donald Duck in Mathmagic Land

418_im_a_teapot@sh.itjust.works · 3 pts · 1y (6 replies)

Out of curiosity, how do you write a capital letter A?

Tab981@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 1y (4 replies)

Start at the top, go down to the left. Pick up pen. Start at the top, go down to the right. Pick up pen. Go across.

418_im_a_teapot@sh.itjust.works · 6 pts · 1y

You monster

camr_on@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 1y

I hate you

callyral@pawb.social · 1 pts · 1y

Same, although I write in cursive so I don't usually do this

Hoimo@ani.social · 1 pts · 1y

Tsk, true left-to-right writing would do the crossbar second.

Evotech@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y

How do you write? Left to right?

dastanktal@lemmy.ml · 1 pts · 1y

No but I've been told the way I hold my pens is similar to the way left handed people right. Rather than push the pencil along the page I drag it. Resulting in my hand kind of looking like a 'C' when I'm write

_LordMcNuggets_@feddit.org · 12 pts · 1y

Madison420@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y

I think the op medium- level comment is just a typo of this, otherwise wtf is 13542?

And I'm shocked I'm the first one to say this, surely this is by far the most common way?

Tetsuo@jlai.lu · 6 pts · 1y

24135 would result in an incomplete star...

Numuruzero@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 6 pts · 1y (5 replies)

I'm 25314. It's just easiest to start with a perfectly horizontal line

Vinny_93@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 1y (2 replies)

Clearly you mean 52413

Numuruzero@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 1 pts · 1y (1 reply)

I play for both teams but more importantly I think of it like writing a real fucked up capital G

418_im_a_teapot@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 1y

I think of a capital A, which is why I’m in the 4135 camp.

Brosplosion@lemmy.zip · 1 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Why is your comment misaligned

Edit: got it! after checking the HTML, Lemmy interpreted your comment as a list, because of the number followed by a dot.

Doesn't it depend on the ritual?
The corner in which you're starting and ending should have a meaning and should set the subconscious for the ritual as symbol.

At least that's the idea, as far as I've understood it

markovs_gun@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 1y

I am legitimately surprised at how few people start with the horizontal line here. I can never get the damn thing lined up right if I don't start with the horizontal line.
