The 2A was quite literally written to be a failsafe against a federal government like we have now. Of course it comes with additional societal drawbacks that we've essentially focused exclusively on for decades, for mostly good reasons. However, you can be assured that they'll think twice about oppressing minority groups if those people are armed and demonstrate a willingness to defend themselves. It's not a magic bullet (lol) but at the end of the day I'd rather go out fighting the fascists than hoping to hide from them while they escalate their violence against my fellow citizens.
