But I would start by disabling all extensions and then re-enabling them one by one until it breaks. Another way to trouble shoot would be to reset firefox. When ever websites act wierd for me I will take those steps first and one or the other usually solves it for me.
Check your configs. It may also be a setting on the network you're using. My workplace's internet has some sort of filtering system in place that happens to also disable YT comments. Pi-hole will block Roku's homescreen ads. The various streaming apps you may have on your Roku all implement ads their own ways, though. Pi-hole only blocks ads that come from a different domain name, which is why it does not block Youtube ads. Because Youtube serves ads from the same domain as normal content.

I'm aware. But well-meaning people still often recommend Pi-hole to those looking to block YT ads. Since it's DNS-based, it can't block YT ads as YT serves ads from the same domain as the normal content.

Oh god yeah. If I have to sit through an advertisement for something, it makes an incredible negative impression on me. But only since I started adblocking. Back in the 90's and 00's I hardly noticed we were swimming in the filth.
The only thing I can’t skip/block seems to be Twitch, but I concentrate on the adverts, I study them, log them, consume them, so I can funnel all my energy into hating the brand. I’m never buying a Renault, watching Chainsaw man, and this year I’m cancelling Prime because they have interrupted my day.
The only reliable method for twitch that I've found is just VPN-ing it to a random country like Bulgaria or another region where they don't serve ads. IIUC that's basically how many twitch ad blockers work, by loading the stream playlist through a vpn. Tunneling the whole app is a lot easier and works just as well for me.
I literally cover my face with my hand and only leave a gap in my fingers where the skip button is. I'm not watching youtubes AI filth commercials. They are super cringe and ROUGH AI.
I despise ads, but there's a way to not see ads and also support the content you're watching: pay for premium. If I can pay for an ad free experience I will because services aren't free (unless they're FOSS). Now if I can't pay to get rid of ads, then I will block viciously with all means at my disposal

If you ever get curious, try out Firefox with the ublock origin extension. Alternatively, you can try privacy focused browsers like duck duck go or librewolf. There are other ad block methods, but more complicated.
I mean, personally, I started signing up for creators pateron where they post the videos Ad-Free and sometimes in podcast form, and i prefer that, but im not going to switch browsers cuz i like syncing my info between my phone and laptop, and i've given up on going a libre route, you just loose out on so much.

The streamer can trigger ads early to time them, but ultimately does have to show ads. They can also decide on whether there are pre-roll ads.

They have lots of options to make it harder.
They could put the commercials directly into the stream and disallow fast-forward/start at time commands.
They could run drm and change the key/method up so often blockers would need to change on a daily basis.
They could shrink the content into 1/4 screen and run the add at 3/4
Competition would take their lunch eventually.
There's a balance between keeping your customers happy and making your advertisers happy.

See, I understand that, but the original post is the circlejerk, not the comments. OP knew when they posted this that all the top comments would be about adblock. Its absurd, laughable even, to not use adblock today.
Its like if I posted a video saying "I don't understand why it's not working" and im throwing water into a tub with a huge hole in it. It's not even good bait, when people tell me im an idiot and theres an obvious hole, i don't get to act all surprised. The top comments would of course be predictable.

It is a blatant separation of this particular subculture, but our stalwart membership isn't exactly flourishing under the relentless corpo onslaught against factual knowledge, personal privacy, consumer empowerment, etc., so... 🤷🏼♂️

Oh god yeah. If I have to sit through an advertisement for something, it makes an incredible negative impression on me. But only since I started adblocking. Back in the 90's and 00's I hardly noticed we were swimming in the filth.

The only thing I can’t skip/block seems to be Twitch, but I concentrate on the adverts, I study them, log them, consume them, so I can funnel all my energy into hating the brand. I’m never buying a Renault, watching Chainsaw man, and this year I’m cancelling Prime because they have interrupted my day.

The only reliable method for twitch that I've found is just VPN-ing it to a random country like Bulgaria or another region where they don't serve ads. IIUC that's basically how many twitch ad blockers work, by loading the stream playlist through a vpn. Tunneling the whole app is a lot easier and works just as well for me.

I despise ads, but there's a way to not see ads and also support the content you're watching: pay for premium. If I can pay for an ad free experience I will because services aren't free (unless they're FOSS). Now if I can't pay to get rid of ads, then I will block viciously with all means at my disposal

Hard pass. Firefox and ublock origins get the job done just fine. On mobile ideally Fennec or IceFox, they remove the telemetry as well.

well they have to make money somehow, do you think we can live in a ad-free world? I agree ad's suck but if i can pay a monthly fee to skip ads in youtube or keep using this workaround or that workaround until it gets shutdown, ill just buy the subscription.

If that works for you, I understand. Do what ya gotta do. I would just be really bothered by letting YouTube bully me into paying for their service. Its coercive to make the ads so unbearable that you have to either suffer, buy the subscription, or find a workaround. I'm on team find a workaround, but that's also bc I have the tech know how to find alternatives.
If you ever get curious, try out Firefox with the ublock origin extension. Alternatively, you can try privacy focused browsers like duck duck go or librewolf. There are other ad block methods, but more complicated.

I mean, personally, I started signing up for creators pateron where they post the videos Ad-Free and sometimes in podcast form, and i prefer that, but im not going to switch browsers cuz i like syncing my info between my phone and laptop, and i've given up on going a libre route, you just loose out on so much.
