The way I read jimothy's comment is that Republican politicians are using trans people as a distraction from issues they don't want to address. Conservatives are making problems by claiming trans people are bad in order to deflect attention away from problems their constiuents actually care about.
Conservative voters, if presented with the choice of healthcare or trans athletes, would absolutely prefer their politicians to focus on healthcare. A farmer in Iowa does not actually give a fuck what bathroom a trans person uses, their attention has just been redirected in that direction by grifters.
This is exactly it. They have to keep focusing on more narrower minorities. Can't do it to women, blacks, or even gay people anymore. They NEED a minority scapegoat to blame all their problems on. There's like 8 trans athletes in college in the U.S. right now and they passed a bill to ban them from competing. Meanwhile there's a housing crisis, fuel crisis, climate crisis, etc etc.
I'm not saying the problems trans people face aren't real or anything like that. Just that there seem to be more pressing issues that are affecting a greater number of people.
So you don't think things would be better if the GOP just ignored trans people and let them be and instead focused on fixing the economy? Because I think it would be great if right-wing politicians stopped focusing on people's sex, gender, and sexuality.
There's a big difference between "this isn't part of the curriculum" and "using someone's preferred pronouns gets you fired/expelled". Florida has shown us that it's the second one they're putting in place.

Allowing people to exist is quite a bit different than a curriculum. There is no “trans 101” lesson, this is about censoring people’s identities. This is about punishment, not education.
You’re being obtuse, and we’re all aware of that. We know exactly where you stand. Just say you hate people that are different from you and want them to not exist or be hurt because of it, we know that’s the only point you’re trying to make.
It would not, as basic logic is allowed to come into play rather just assuming that allowing trans people to exist extends to whatever the fuck you’re implying will come of it.
Because it helps trans kids greatly to know that what they're feeling is okay, that they aren't alone in this and that there are solutions available.
Of course, a topic like this needs to be introduced very carefully. Though this entire discussion is pointless at the moment, because American education system is worthless and serves no real purpose, so it'd never get done right anyway.
