A police officer speeds 70 MPH down a two-lane highway running over a bridge in the Florida Keys. He passes a dump truck in a no-passing zone, then immediately does it again, crossing over a double-yellow line to pass another truck. He passes a third vehicle, nearly causing a head-on collision with a white pickup truck that veers away from him in the oncoming traffic. The cop keeps driving, and sees the SUV he’s been in pursuit of. He flicks his sirens and lights on and pulls it over.
The cop, Lamar Roman, wasn’t trying to pull over a suspected criminal. He was tracking and chasing a woman that he met and harassed on the set of the AppleTV+ show Bad Monkey, which he had worked a security detail shift on a few weeks prior to pulling her over. After meeting the woman, catcalling her and harassing her for her full name and Instagram details, the cop illegally looked up her vehicle information on DAVID, a Florida Department of Motor Vehicles database for law enforcement. He then put her license plate details on a surveillance “hotlist,” meaning he would get a notification in real time anytime she drove by an AI-powered license plate surveillance camera.

Tell MAGA that Kamala had them installed to track their children. Problem solved.

I worry how terrible this is, its enough how much stalking there is already, why make it easier for no benefit for the public at all?
This new stalking technology doesnt help end crimes, drug dealers, murderers, NOTHING!
But only increases stalking and harassment.

Well you see the tech bros want to control everything you think and everything you do. This is for that.

Knowing the location of everyone at any time is of enormous importance to big tech (big capitalism in general), a bunch of secret police and intelligence agencies as well as any other nefarious actors you can think of. So local politicians can earn a lot of bribe money if they consent to having these things installed in their areas.
It being beneficial to local crooks and bullies is just an extra perk of their general dystopian shittiness.

In the United States, this is called treason… It’s treason that someone revealed the camera footage of this patriot cop, obviously doing his duty. Whatever the circumstance, this cop is clearly pursuing a drug smuggler or murderer, and for no reason, could he possibly be considered criminal in his intent. She must be arrested immediately. she would not be recorded on the camera unless she was a criminal committing many thousands of crimes!
Obviously, criminal until proven otherwise. In fact, she should be executed immediately before she commits more crimes. Thank the Christian God who is definitely Jesus (if you deny this, then you should be executed immediately) that the cop escaped with his life! He should be given all of the awards possible!
Praise the golden fattened god, Trump! And all of his diarrhea diapers!

This is you watering down the term "treason".
Stop it.
Jhex@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 54d
yes, that is the real concern here
forestbeasts@pawb.social · 3 pts · 54d
Yeah, "treason" is literally defined in the Constitution here specifically to stop people from declaring anything they don't like "treason".
That doesn't change just because the thing in question is heinous; it's still not treason.

Treason is anything our king dislikes or eats into the profit of our noble billionaires.
