Better yet, avoid the entire country.

SeventySeven@sh.itjust.works · 14 pts · 3d

Me trying to avoid flock cameras be like

kboos1@lemmy.world · 69 pts · 3d (4 replies)

I actually don't know why. Can someone fill me in?

shweddy@lemmy.world · 66 pts · 3d (2 replies)

Theyre being racist. Lower Manhattan and Williamsburg to coneyisland have been gentrified. There are still hold outs in china town selling cheap dumplings and wonton soup. And dupes for cheap

Wrufieotnak@feddit.org · 16 pts · 3d (1 reply)

So what you're telling me is that the good, cheap food that tourists crave are in the red labeled areas? Understood!

After some thought, its New York, so cheap is probably relative.

shweddy@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 3d

Yea. There's at least 3 night markets In Queens where you can fill up on $10. And in The heights and the Bronx you can find restaurants under the train tracks selling crazy portions for $15

Kolanaki@pawb.social · 4 pts · 3d

Because they're in New York, but not Manhattan.

Treczoks@lemmy.world · 68 pts · 3d

Better advice for tourists: Avoid the USA.

VitoRobles@lemmy.today · 45 pts · 3d (6 replies)

I love when maga-pilled tell people to avoid major parts of the country.

Why?

  1. They're sensitive snowflakes who get butthurt if they see a LGBTQIA person
  2. Nobody wants them there anyways.
CultLeader4Hire@lemmy.world · 18 pts · 3d (3 replies)

You could see a black person in Brooklyn!!

BeardededSquidward@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 7 pts · 3d (2 replies)

How preposterous to see a black man running around free! My word, they should immediately be put to work and if they refuse hung! That's how we did it in the olden days and we should bring those back! /s

godsammitdam@lemmy.zip · 5 pts · 3d (1 reply)

That's what Make America Great Again always meant to them. And maybe the Gilded Age part too.

BeardededSquidward@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 3 pts · 3d

MAGA just wants to be openly racist and anti-LGBT+ again.

Thebeardedsinglemalt@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 3d

They're the same type of suburbanites who think more than 3 black people in a half-mile radius constitutes gang activity

AceFuzzLord@lemmy.zip · 5 pts · 3d

They're the type of people who claim the left are snowflakes but then blowup at something we probably all learned about around kindergarten age: the dreadrd pronouns.

shweddy@lemmy.world · 18 pts · 3d (3 replies)

If you go to the Bronx a common morning greeting is YOU GOOD?! Say it loud and look them up and down a bunch. They'll know youre from there

ThrowawayPermanente@sh.itjust.works · 3 pts · 3d (1 reply)

This wouldn't get me shot, would it?

shweddy@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 3d

I can't guarantee your safety

jtrek@startrek.website · 18 pts · 3d (6 replies)

I assume this is trying to do a racism.

Witchfire@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 3d (1 reply)

That was my assumption but they also included all of South Brooklyn so idk what to tell you. I couldn't tell you what they're filtering for

toxicbubble@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 3d

tbf South Brooklyn is mostly non-black (but still very mixed) communities

anarchy79@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 3d (3 replies)

I took it to mean they have sub par pizzas there.

Dozzi92@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 3d (1 reply)

NJ Pizza > NY Pizza. I'll die on that hill.

jtrek@startrek.website · 3 pts · 2d

I've lived in both but I don't remember anything distinctive about NJ pizza. The main thing about NY pizza for me is I can walk in, get a slice, and eat it on foot. Though I lived in the NJ suburbs, where "on foot" wasn't really a thing.

Witchfire@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 3d

Nah quality is pretty evenly distributed throughout the area. Joe & John's is squarely in the red section for example. Honestly, midtown Manhattan is mainly chains and bougie shit that barely resembles NYC style

Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world · 15 pts · 3d (14 replies)

You can tell they’re not from New York because they circled part of New Jersey.

Otherwise I’d say it might be from a New Yorker telling people to stick to the tourist areas.

SkybreakerEngineer@lemmy.world · 16 pts · 3d (13 replies)

Really, everyone should stay away from all of New Jersey. Not because of anything racial, but because it's New Jersey

desmosthenes@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 3d (4 replies)

real New Yorkers live in NJ, work in NYC

Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 3d (1 reply)

Pro tip: If you want a fight say this in any bar in the four boroughs.

Staten Island doesn’t count because it’s basically New Jersey.

anomnom@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 3d

Started island is more like Florida than New Jersey.

sundray@lemmus.org · 1 pts · 3d (1 reply)

That's quitter talk!

desmosthenes@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 3d

lololololol facts

comador@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 3d

Jay and Silent Bob have entered the room ...

jtrek@startrek.website · 4 pts · 3d

Making fun of NJ is like "omg epic bacon" or saying "I'm so random". It's really passé and unoriginal. It's extra funny when the speaker is from, like, Mississippi or someplace that's actually bad.

plateee@piefed.social · 3 pts · 3d (3 replies)

It's the armpit of America!

Alexstarfire@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 3d (2 replies)

If the armpit worries you, you should avoid Florida as well.

trolololol@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 3d (1 reply)

Is that the crotch?

SatyrSack@quokk.au · 1 pts · 3d

JasonDJ@lemmy.zip · 3 pts · 3d (1 reply)

Everything is legal in New Jersey.

dhork@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 3d

Except pumping your own gas, and left turns

AwesomeLowlander@sh.itjust.works · 14 pts · 3d (2 replies)

NotSteve_@lemmy.ca · 6 pts · 3d

Maybe just fill in everything between Canada and Mexico as avoid

_stranger_@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 3d

lawnguyland

victorz@lemmy.world · 11 pts · 3d (4 replies)

What is the obvious reason they are referring to? I'm not from NY or America do I don't have a clue.

Trex202@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 3d

If he's a local: tired of seeing tourists

If he's a tourists: bigot.

GreenKnight23@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 3d (2 replies)

Hell I live in new york and I don't know what the fuck they're talking about.

it could be a litany of things.

Siethron@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 3d

All the Bodega cats in those areas are orange tabbies

victorz@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2d

Right? 🤷‍♂️🤌

melsaskca@lemmy.ca · 10 pts · 3d

Telling tourists? That's like screaming into the void.

bamboo@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 7 pts · 3d

No airports for you

DecentM@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 6 pts · 3d (1 reply)

I like how it goes out into the water, like "even if you're a fish!"

anarchy79@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 3d

There be gay fish in them there waterrrs.

Kenny2999@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 3d

Went to Newark once and a couple nice old ladies exiting a beautiful local church told me to get the fuck out.

01189998819991197253@infosec.pub · 2 pts · 2d

Isn't that the same place where all those flock cameras are?

Polyphilic@lemmy.ca · 2 pts · 3d (1 reply)

Just paint the entire USA red, fuck it.

01189998819991197253@infosec.pub · 2 pts · 2d

Lol the last USA elections kind of did that, init?

Edit. Fixed bad Autocorrect

Leviathan@fedinsfw.app · 2 pts · 3d

Last time I visited New York I stayed in New Jersey, in the red area, was a 20 minute bus ride from the port authority without traffic. Had Chinese food one night from the red area, is still the best American-Chinese food I ever had.

Dookieman12@piefed.social · 1 pts · 3d (1 reply)

Oh, I know why...

There's not much to see in the red areas. All the tourist spots everyone wants to visit while on vacation are outside them.

Agent641@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1d

As a tourist, I prefer to take the normal areas of a place I visit, not tourist attractions. Just regular streets, parks, shops, ect

Duamerthrax@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1d

Most of that isn't NYC, but stay out anyway.
