Shortest fan fiction ever?

AzuranAurora@piefed.ca · 9 pts · 3d (1 reply)

Once upon a time, Frankenstein existed. The end.

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 3d

Once,
the fuck he didn't.

Soy latte for "Actually Frankenstein is his last name and you are his child so you are Frankenstein as well"

Wizard_Pope@lemmy.world · 24 pts · 4d (1 reply)

Frankenstein jr.

aarch0x40@piefed.social · 6 pts · 3d

But people usually just call me Frankie

Dojan@pawb.social · 23 pts · 4d

It applies to dogs. I know someone whose dog is named Fidel. It means loyal. His surname happens to be Castro.

So on the vet papers he’s listed as Fidel Castro.

ChicoSuave@lemmy.world · 52 pts · 4d

"Mister Frankenstein", he said as I gave him the change. "Doctor Frankenstein was my father."

FuglyDuck@lemmy.world · 50 pts · 4d (1 reply)

Iirc, some adaptations name him Adam, for the line “I ought to be thy Adam.”

TheMinions@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 43 pts · 4d

He is also considered Victor’s son in some adaptations. So Adam Frankenstein wouldn’t be off base either.

betterdeadthanreddit@lemmy.world · 30 pts · 4d

"...and another for Frau Blücher."

Sibshops@feddit.cl · 21 pts · 4d (2 replies)

You could say he's the monster, but the monster really was Dr Frankenstein.

DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 4d

So, Frankenstein's "Monster".

Couldbealeotard@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 3d

They were both bad dudes, but only one went on a murderous revenge spree and killed children. I'd suggest that one was the real monster.

ScrambledEggs@lazysoci.al · 20 pts · 4d (11 replies)

Frankenstein was the surname so, wouldn't they both be Frankenstein? In the sense that Victor, the doctor, created "the monster" would it not be feasible that they share the last name?

WhiskyTangoFoxtrot@lemmy.world · 17 pts · 4d (2 replies)

Frankenstein and the creature hated each other. They wouldn't want to share a name.

kolmaskommentoija@sopuli.xyz · 27 pts · 4d (1 reply)

I mean... A lot of people really hate their parents, but still share their last names.

WhyIHateTheInternet@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 4d

Exactly, which is why my name is Jeff Fuckinalcoholicdad.

athatet@lemmy.zip · 8 pts · 4d (4 replies)

Idk. I make stuff and none of it has my last name.

AceBonobo@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 4d

Missed opportunity

LePoisson@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 3d (2 replies)

Lots of people make stuff that has their last name. I mean I probably wouldn't call someone's child stuff normally but names get given to other conscious beings you create. What's the difference between the monster or a child?

athatet@lemmy.zip · 3 pts · 3d (1 reply)

Well the main difference is the monster is sewn together from a bunch of dead people whereas a child is not that.

WeirdGoesPro@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 4 pts · 3d

Not with that attitude!

egrets@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 4d (1 reply)

Sure, but since the monster was assembled from the cadavers of several people, it would be fitting if he carried their names too, so a septuple-barreled name is the obvious choice.

Vandals_handle@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 3d

Get nicknamed hyphen or hyphy for short.

hansolo@lemmy.today · 7 pts · 4d

So Frankenstein Jr.?

TheReturnOfPEB@reddthat.com · 13 pts · 4d (4 replies)

Adam

UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 4d

Up and At Them!

WhiskyTangoFoxtrot@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 4d (2 replies)

No. He compared himself to Adam, but neither he nor anyone else ever called him by that name.

Kolanaki@pawb.social · 4 pts · 3d

He also says he is more like the fallen angel the same sentence he says he ought to be like Adam, so we should call him Lucifer.

TheReturnOfPEB@reddthat.com · 1 pts · 4d

So did I.

Skullgrid@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 4d (1 reply)

It's Fronken-steen

AI_toothbrush@lemmy.zip · 10 pts · 4d

Thats so funny tho cause he would order a soy latte

QueenHawlSera@piefed.social · 10 pts · 3d (2 replies)

His name is Adam Frankenstein

WolvenSpectre@lemmy.ca · 8 pts · 3d

Yeah, it is spelled right out in the book for crying out loud.

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 3d

Adam von Muenster de Franciscopetran if we must be precise, but usually people start screaming by the von and I don't blame them it's a horrid name

ijustliketrains@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 4d (4 replies)

I find it interesting that the monster canonically speaks French.

Nurse_Robot@lemmy.world · 18 pts · 4d (3 replies)

All monsters speak French

Sibshops@feddit.cl · 6 pts · 3d

Logical fallacy, just because all French people are monsters doesn't mean the opposite is true.

Wizard_Pope@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 4d (1 reply)

Even the mute ones?

negativenull@piefed.world · 16 pts · 4d

FluidBeef@quokk.au · 9 pts · 3d (3 replies)

Did Frankenstein even have a doctorate?

ZoteTheMighty@lemmy.zip · 9 pts · 3d

Yes, and he was a real professor before he was backed to work on his monster.

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 3d

In communication why

ThomasWilliams@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 3d

He has a Master's Degree. In Science.

xylogx@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 4d

Soy Latte? He really is a monster!

hakunawazo@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 3d

Just call him Frank

Krauerking@lemy.lol · 5 pts · 4d

He should go by Big Green. He could have a cool nickname if only he tried.

neclimdul@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 3d

Frankenstein's Monster's Monster, Frankenstein

Grail@multiverse.soulism.net · 4 pts · 4d

His name is Adam Frankenstein.

affenlehrer@feddit.org · 3 pts · 4d (12 replies)

I believe he was actually vegan in the book but I never read it.

thisbenzingring@lemmy.today · 10 pts · 4d (11 replies)

it doesn't really go into what he eats but he doesn't need to eat

one thing that is often misunderstood is how smart and cunning the monster is. And he only really harms people in relation to punishing Dr. Frankenstien

NelDel@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 9 pts · 4d (2 replies)

The 1818 edition specifically says he eats berries & plants that he forages, & avoids eating meat

thisbenzingring@lemmy.today · 7 pts · 4d

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frankenstein's_monster#Personality

While speaking to Frankenstein, he tells him, "My food is not that of man; I do not destroy the lamb and the kid to glut my appetite; acorns and berries afford me sufficient nourishment...The picture I present to you is peaceful and human."

so yeah, I forgot that part. My copy is a 1963 paperback. It has a beautiful image on the cover but its starting to fall part, the cover has come apart from the seam. Its been a few years since I have read it but it is one of those books that stays with you, for sure!

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 3d

That would be a level two vegan

Sibshops@feddit.cl · 5 pts · 4d (7 replies)

So technically vegan in that he doesn't eat meat (or veggies for that matter).

evidences@lemmy.world · 16 pts · 4d (6 replies)

He's a level 7 vegan in that he doesn't eat anything that casts a shadow.

Wizard_Pope@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 4d (1 reply)

So only stuff grown in total darkness?

UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 4d

Like in the famous cookbook, Artichoke Heart of Darkness

bugbear@lemmy.sdf.org · 2 pts · 3d

That's gotta get you those cool vegan powers, right?

betterdeadthanreddit@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 4d

Thought that was level 5. Level 6 excludes anything upon which a shadow may be cast, not sure what comes after that.

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 3d

That's level 5. Level 7 is anything that interacts with neutrinos

Vandals_handle@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 3d

So could eat vampires then.

ZILtoid1991@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 3d (1 reply)

Don't ask Elon Musk why he wanted to go to the laboratory of Dr Frankenstein!

SabinStargem@lemmy.today · 4 pts · 3d

Needs the dick of a better man, since his own is malfunctional.
