The banner saying "socialists exploit affordability crisis" is really pissing me off.
Like, aside from the blatant lie that socialists somehow created the crisis when they've never had a meaningful majority in any US branch of government or chamber of Congress, and have never been the ones on corporate executive boards or boards of shareholders or directors or any of that who are actually to blame;
aside from that, the thing that really pisses me off is just how dishonest it is to say they're "exploiting" a crisis when all they're doing is offering meaningful solutions that people want and as a result are gaining political support...
Edit: Ah fuck, I meant to post this as a top-level comment. Dunno how it wound up as a reply. Oh well, I'm not fixing it...
Part of the problem is that this shit is being driven - in no small part - by decades of accumulated damage from climate change.
You can reasonably argue that the price inflation isn't (entirely) Trump's fault.
But because the administration is full of blowhards who insist they've got the magic bullet to fix everything, they can't even acknowledge they're in over their heads.
Their positions are predicated by insisting "liberals suck, economics is easy, this One Neat Trick will fix everything instantly".
So all they're left with now is Joe Biden this and Transgender that
I mean, our nation was founded on Selling Out. But, at a minimum, you can trace this back to Truman and the (entirely unnecessary) start of the Cold War.
Reagan merely adopted the Selling Out. Guys like J. Edgar Hoover and Paul Volcker and Allen Dulles were born to it. Molded by it.
How is it not Trump's fault his last administration printed four trillion dollars and his current admin is interfering with the free movement of money and foods and has cut the world's oil supply by 20%
The US dollar hasn't weakened on the global market, so "printing" (not really how that works, but let's pretend) a bigger national debt isn't what's driving inflation at home.
The Trump plan for national insourcing has kinda worked, at least in so far as businesses have become much better at moving low price commodities over the border and assembling (or, in many cases, just reboxing) them behind the tariff wall.
Meanwhile, China is cutting fossil fuel exports enormously, which has kept global energy prices unexpectedly low. We're not seeing a fossil fuel crunch. We're just seeing American energy exporters profit at Europe, Africa, and India's expense.
We're also seeing a cresting wave of corporate profits. Shit is expensive because of consolidation, enshittification, and price gouging.
But moreso, specifically in agricultural markets, we're seeing a surge in crop failures, livestock diseases, droughts, and fires that are fully independent of administration.
Biden and Obama and Bush and Clinton (and the hundreds of legislators and and governors underneath them) fiddled around the edges of these problems for decades prior to Trump. These are American policies broadly speaking.
They are all narcissist. They are completely incapable of admitting fault. Its how they get into positions of power. They would use their children as human shields before they would admit fault for anything.
You mean they're theseists. Narcissism is self-destructive pride, theseism is abusive pride. You can have both, like Zuko, but these Epstein ghouls most assuredly have no narcissistic bone in their bodies.
It's not, it's a term that your parent made up three weeks ago and brought it up now to drive traffic to their medium page. And, I hate to use the term "nobody", but, it's not like this is a credentialed doctor or even educated medical commentator...just some rando with <100 followers.
It's the only use of this term that I've seen in this context.
That said, I get the use of the term and the ableism behind the term NPD...it's actually a pretty good article.
It is a dirty rotten SEO trick though. So their name on Medium is also Grail, but with "Viridian" before it. And an "@", per Medium's methods.
It's the other way around. I created the article to explain and promote the word, because I want to use this word as a tool to campaign for NPD rights without taking away people's ability to describe their abusers. I have NPD, and that's why I care about defending this 3000 year old queer kid's legacy. Because his legacy directly impacts the stigma I feel in daily life. I'm interested in making ideas and language to improve My life.
If I wanted to chase clout, I wouldn't be defending the single most hated mental disorder.
I don't want to be the only result on google when you search "theseist". I made up the word for a reason, and I hope millions of other people start using the word. I would like My article to be referenced in a footnote on the Wikipedia page for Theseism. Unfortunately, I am the only one who has thus far used the word I coined. Because that's how coining words works. I am using it in the hope that it spreads, and other people start discussing it. If you would write an article on your blog about the word or use it when talking about billiionaire pedo celebrities, I'd be pretty grateful. I don't even care if you cite Me, as long as the word gains traction and takes the heat off people living with disability stigma.
Anyway, the name on the blog and the Piefed account are similar because it's My name. I am Viridian Grail. It's a name I identify more closely with than My legal name, which I'm not telling anyone. If you look at My profile online, you'll see a picture of a viridian grail. That's an abstract representation of Me.
Anyway, thanks for reading the article, thanks for the praise, please don't stigmatise NPD, and hopefully I've given you the tools to make that an easy request to follow.
I'm pretty sure you don't know what you are talking about. Theism is a tool of the narcissist. They hide behind it and use it as a excuse for their victimization. You have no idea what a narcissist is or you are one.
You're saying I'm like Narcissus, the queer kid who was killed by the gods because he just wanted to be left alone. I agree.
And anyone who thinks that's a bad thing is like Theseus. The man who kidnapped 12-year-old Helen of Troy to marry her. Someone who is like Theseus would be a theseist.
These Epstein ghouls are theseists. Driven by pride and hatred. Those who hate queer kids, and those who hate the neurodivergent, are theseists too. Anyone who would villify another person for having a mental health condition? A theseist. A MAGA chud.
No I'm saying you are completely clueless about what you are talking about. You think its the theism but that is just a tool they use. Its the complete lack of empathy that only a malignant narcissist can have. Goodbye.
I think you should stop barfing out slurs long enough to learn to read the difference between the words theism and theseism, but I understand that can be difficult.
Well for queerness, that's true. The link between asexuality and NPD exists for complicated historical reasons, including Lord Byron. But for neurodivergence, not so. Childhood trauma can cause certain forms of neurodivergence owing to fundamental changes in the way we interpret later experiences. Small childrens' brains are still developing, and abuse can interrupt important processes that occur after birth, including the formation of a child's sense of self.
This is the fundamental mechanism behind the B cluster of personality disorders, including NPD. People with NPD are neuro-divergent. Our brains work differently than egotypicals' brains. That is to say, people whose sense of self is neurologically within the average range. Egotypicals are able to regulate their self-image quite effortlessly in comparison with people who have Cluster B disorders. This is because of healthy experiences in early childhood, and genetics are also believed to play a role, though this role is not yet understood.
Communism is so repugnant to almost all Americans, when they are getting along even tolerably well, that one may predict with certainty that any social field or group in which the Communists make real strides in gaining members or acceptance of their doctrines, any such spot is in such bad shape from real and not imaginary social ills that the rest of us should take emergency, drastic action to investigate and correct the trouble.
Unfortunately we are more prone to ignore the sick spot thus disclosed and content ourselves with calling out more cops.
--Robert A. Heinlein, Take Back Your Government
Heinlein fucking hated communists (leaving aside for the moment the meaningful distinctions between socialism and communism), and even he was smart enough to acknowledge that if the group you don't like is gaining converts, then you've done something wrong to let them seem appealing.
9 times out of 10, the problem is some corporate fuckery. And the corporations in question are tossing out bribes, left right and center.
Republicans and Democrats talk a bunch of shit, but ultimately just compete over who can be the ones getting bribed the most.
This has metastasized into a Trump Administration that exists almost entirely to take bribes, without regard to any actual popular policy.
But it's also created an intense cynicism both among independents and within partisan groups. This kind of messaging can't break through it's own event horizon of hyper-partisan voters. Not only will people dismiss it as unbelievable, they won't even hear Bessent talk unless someone they trust is making fun of him.
Less than three weeks into Trump's first term there was a burst of about 1500 arrests for human trafficking - the result of a year-long sting operation called Operation Cross Country X, started during the Obama administration. Trump was quick to take credit for it - "Two weeks in office and I've cleaned up child exploitation!"
Conservatives don't care about facts. They care about feelings. Specifically, the high of in-group solidarity and the thrill of hurting the out-group. They're stupid. You can't engage with them on facts because they aren't there. You need to change their in-group, somehow get their in-group to change beliefs, or traumatize them. Those are the only things that change minds.
It's been doing a FANTASTIC JOB for over a century!!!
Hmmm... if we could just appoint the right board, I'm sure it would work even better than usual! Bankers are notorious for their charity and would never, ever manipulate "our" currency to generate billions for JP Morgan, whom they worked for before and after their 14-year term that they can't be fired from.
Well in this case it isn't just Trump's fault. He's so effective at fucking over 95 percent of Americans because of decades of events. Trump gets 6-3 rulings with no official disclosures or reasoning because of acts that took place before he ever made it near the office. He's actually dim enough that he doesn't even likely know the people who did gave him the abilities he has right now, but then again he doesn't care. Trump didn't make it so you could buy politicians. He didn't own all the broadcasts, he didn't own the papers... Yet they all distort everything they can to make sure whats happening in office right now would happen. In an alternative universe had Trump died in 2001. Another person similar to him would have been put right where he is. Project 2024 would exist regardless of whether he had.
The system that enabled two Trump presidencies is just like you explain, much bigger than him. But Trump as an individual matters, too - his decades in the public eye primed people to have paranormal relationships with him in a way few can match, and his appearance of wealth attracted a critical mass of amoral helpers that otherwise might have divided to multiple fiefdoms of infighting.
That's morally simplistic and defeatist, don't you think? An actual animal evolved enough to be unhappy with having animalistic traits, I find that rather hopeful.
I do not.
There is no reason for this level of awful.
What hope am I supposed to cling on to?
Why am I supposed to go on living?
What do I have to look forward to?
Civil War?
Watching my friends and family starve?
What good is there left?
What's with the framing of all that, like you showed up on Earth with preconceived notions of how nice it should be? I've got food, running water, vaccines, indoor plumbing, and free books. 99% of every human who ever lived would kill for half of that.
I reject the idea that things should be nicer for me. Instead I only wish I could make things nicer for others, living or yet to come. That mindset is the only way it ever got this good.
The biggest chomo and domestic terrorists this country has ever seen and they're just letting it spread like cancer. Just goes to show that intelligence is a minority 10-fold in the US. That's because republicans effectively killed education decades ago. All part of the grand plan. An uneducated poor person is so easily manipulated and brainwashed because they can't think for themselves and make proper life decisions.
It loves the uneducated. Smart people don't like it very much.
