I don't think capsaicin is that much of an insecticide. AFAIK its primary purpose is to deter consumption by mammals since the seeds are more likely to survive if eaten by birds (who are immune to capsaicin).
Of course that makes it extra amusing that we're specifically after this stuff.

There are fungi living in our body which keeps us alive, we use them for bread, beer and penicillin among many other uses, they break down dead plants to create food for new plants, they divide food and communicate between trees, but they are themselves not plants. The largest living organism on earth is a fungi by the way.

You forgot about the bitter garbage that's inside of cabbage cultivars. If you're a normal person you know that they taste like death. If you are a weird mutant you think they taste somewhere on a scale between acceptable and delicious.
