Conservatism is a learned behavior, not one that is inherited. I would prefer they not pass their values on to anyone but them not literally breeding isn't a solution to the problem, as much as it may help

This is because a normal person will have the ability to experience empathy. It is not possible to experience empathy and hold conservative views simultaneously. Conservatism defies empathy. A person who feels empathy for others cannot also hold conservative views. They are simply incompatible with empathy in every respect.
Not only are conservatives biologically unable to experience empathy, but they also choose malice and greed in service to their narcissism. Conservatives are unable to be taught to be normal, just as a normal person cannot be taught to be conservative in any real, lasting way. We are fundamentally, biologically different from one another.
People become more conservative as they age. I don't know where you get this opinion they will necessarily abandon it as they age.
As people get exposed to more injustices and as they gain more things that can be lost they become more protective of their own situation and stop caring for other people, typically. I have seen multiple studies on this that arrive at the same outcome.

I'm sorry you had to endure that. Sounds similar to my situation. I've literally been told I should be grateful that I don't get slapped in the face for "sass" because my mom's father did that to her. And I also have a sister that defends our abusive father no matter what. He always spared her most of the abuse that the boys got a double dose of. I'm supposedly on good terms with my immediate family but there's a long list of traumas caused by my parents. The most "normal" one of us is the less abused sister and she's planning to marry a trump supporter who has a lot of debt and has had 2 previous wives, the last of which he was still married to when my sister and him started seeing each other. They're going to be super in debt (buying a new expensive vehicle right after getting engaged on top of lots of existing debt) and I truly don't see it working out even if you ignore that she has claimed to oppose trump for many years but now suddenly has decided to tune out and marry a fascist redneck because he (for now) does every single thing she says. This is what happens when you rule your first two kids with an iron fist and then get tired of it and let the third kid get away with murder, nearly always getting their way and knowing no discipline. People/parents don't seem capable of balance. It's all or nothing..
Conservatism is the backdrop that poisons all of these relationships. So many shitty conversations with my parents about politics have left me very alienated from them. The future their votes and ideas have destroyed are not their problem and you cannot even mention these issues unless you want a fight or at minimum to be disappointed. The entire ideology of conservatism is to keep people from having better lives and convince them that a better way is evil. And that applies to both families and society at large.

The worst is that even somewhat progressive people, like my mother and sister, are honestly in so many ways so deeply conservative. I think a lot of it for them was driven by religion, by Christianity. It's a big reason I became an atheist, was the religious abuse, once again mostly verbal and emotional (although I did see my mom get physical once with my sister when she angrily accused my 17 year old sister of wearing a "sexy bra" on a date on purpose and called her a slut.

She probably did see it, since she was trying to get out of there. Either way, she was leaving and they still killed her.

I feel no sympathy for her mother. Maybe she will think about this next time she wants to make a bad decision. Renee on the other hand, has my deepest sympathies.

Yeah, it does seem like an effective way to understand what's fucked about conservatism would be to be bullied and traumatized by them at home. It worked for me. For so many people though, somehow they don't learn that lesson.

My mother loved her abusive father and abused us emotionally and verbally and my sister will defend my mothers abuse endlessly.
It sickens me. These are weak pathetic excuses for human beings. And there are so fucking many of them.

I'm sorry you had to endure that. Sounds similar to my situation. I've literally been told I should be grateful that I don't get slapped in the face for "sass" because my mom's father did that to her. And I also have a sister that defends our abusive father no matter what. He always spared her most of the abuse that the boys got a double dose of. I'm supposedly on good terms with my immediate family but there's a long list of traumas caused by my parents. The most "normal" one of us is the less abused sister and she's planning to marry a trump supporter who has a lot of debt and has had 2 previous wives, the last of which he was still married to when my sister and him started seeing each other. They're going to be super in debt (buying a new expensive vehicle right after getting engaged on top of lots of existing debt) and I truly don't see it working out even if you ignore that she has claimed to oppose trump for many years but now suddenly has decided to tune out and marry a fascist redneck because he (for now) does every single thing she says. This is what happens when you rule your first two kids with an iron fist and then get tired of it and let the third kid get away with murder, nearly always getting their way and knowing no discipline. People/parents don't seem capable of balance. It's all or nothing..
Conservatism is the backdrop that poisons all of these relationships. So many shitty conversations with my parents about politics have left me very alienated from them. The future their votes and ideas have destroyed are not their problem and you cannot even mention these issues unless you want a fight or at minimum to be disappointed. The entire ideology of conservatism is to keep people from having better lives and convince them that a better way is evil. And that applies to both families and society at large.
Sorry for the long winded response. Not a lot of people discuss this stuff as it relates to family trauma.

The worst is that even somewhat progressive people, like my mother and sister, are honestly in so many ways so deeply conservative. I think a lot of it for them was driven by religion, by Christianity. It's a big reason I became an atheist, was the religious abuse, once again mostly verbal and emotional (although I did see my mom get physical once with my sister when she angrily accused my 17 year old sister of wearing a "sexy bra" on a date on purpose and called her a slut.
Anyway, both lifelong democrats, both hate Trump and Republicans in general, both still don't acknowledge their own shitty controlling abusive behavior.

These comments are literally from earlier this week. Her view hasn't changed. She's upset ICE killed her gay daughter, and not the brown immigrant down the street.
As a queer person, I would bet my house she votes straight R in November without giving it a second thought.

I would bet my next paycheck that this woman stays Republican, and continues voting R religiously. At most, they'll skip one election.
After reading the entire article, I see nothing in there that suggests that she will reconsideranything.
The vibe I get from her quotes is that she's one of those special kinds of idiots who believe these things are happening without Trump's approval, and it was really people like Bovino and Noem who were doing these things against Trump's wishes.
Trump actually really wants what's best for Americans, and it's these individual cabinet members who are going rogue and doing the bad things.
It's a fucking mental illness at this point.

She wasn't even blocking a roadway. She was turning around. She saw something she shouldn't have, or they thought she did, because she was near enough to it and they assumed she saw it. She probably did see it, since she was trying to get out of there. Either way, she was leaving and they still killed her.
