Hello. I am an ordinary person from North Korea. You don't need to believe or trust me. I have no gain from your trust or friendship. I just want to share an honest story about everyday life in North Korea.
Many of you may not have the opportunity to meet a North Korean person directly. That is understandable, as most of us have limited access to the internet. My English skills are not very good, so I will speak in Korean and translate it into English.
I am not part of the privileged class. I am an ordinary person like you, with a job that allows me to work and use the internet. Thanks to this internet connection, I can access websites like Lemmy and Reddit. Of course, I also use things like TOR.
It's okay if you don't believe me. However, I will do my best to answer any questions you have about my country.
I think this will be the last post I make with this account. I have other accounts on Lemmy, but I won't disclose them to maintain my anonymity.

Sure you can be skeptical in your mind but perhaps engage with the person and try to find more information and then make a judgement.
I’m curious as to what you find so unbelievable. The fact that someone from NK is on the internet or that they found Lemmy. I know for a fact if I was from NK I wouldn’t be able to resist the curiosity of using the internet, consequences be damned.

The thing is - North Korea isn’t known to have accessible internet. There is an intranet, for people very privileged - but that would be monitored and you wouldn’t be on Lemmy.
This is just extremely unlikely, and based on other comments, the Korean looks Google translated.

Why do you call it North Korea while in North Korea they call it the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, the DPRK. The DPRK doesn't recognize itself as North Korea as they do not recognize the south and claim they should own all of Korea. Saying North Korea is a major offense which is punishable with something like 5 generations in concentration camps.
So I don't understand why you are trying to get attention acting like you're from the DPRK. Many have pointed out your grammer doesn't check out either, both Korean and English.
You say you are on the internet using TOR but there's no way of downloading TOR in North Korea. TOR connections are mostly blocked as well and every computer connected to the internet is closely monitored by the regime. Even if you would use TOR it wouldn't be safe.
So why risk your life and the lives of your family and 5 generations to come by answering some questions in the internet?
None of this makes sense, this is fake, MODS please take it down.

One way to do so is to take a photo with some unique words established here, along with maybe a newspaper and / or something in the background that proves your location is indeed NK (though you should be careful to not expose your identity doing this, I think it's just important the photo is authentic and establishes you are who you say you are).

I have not information about people in SK ... There is poor people in NK . That is true . Many people in countryside who works in the field have little to eat is also true . This person is a faker using translate. Even allowing for differences between southern and northern dialects, they do not speak Korean like a Korean. Their English grammatical and spelling errors are also not even remotely close to those typically made by Koreans who are only partly familiar with English. They have also referred to their country as "북한": "North Korea". Pretty sure that's a hangable offense up there in the land of Joseon.
Entertainment maybe, but don't expect any truth in here. Kinda like Fox News I suppose.
OP: Next time, don't use commas in your Hangeul. They are a western invention. South Koreans use them very rarely, now. I can't imagine North Koreans use them at all.

I have access to the internet ... I cant name reasons . I use TOR with bridges ... I use lemmy because its easy to acess with TOR . I like using reddit too !! I dont have acount because the website is bugged on TOR ... it is hard to use.
Using another websites is also hard !! I sometimes watch youtube but the website is bugged so I use Invidious . I like many youtubers like NileRed and Veritasium .

You're using loanwords from English, something only done in South Korea. Further, you're using honorifics from SK. You also aren't using any distinct NK spelling or vocabulary. This didn't really help your case to be honest.
Notably, your comment has almost nothing to do with the comment you're responding to. You don't mention how you got Tor to magically break out of the intranet.

I like to be with my family and go out !! we have places like beach and parks and waterparks and we have fun .
In NK a long time ago families married daufhters to men they didnt know but it was not forced ... it was arranged . my mother married my father but she not know him until the day they married !! I have wife but I met her my parents dont choose her for me . Our relationship formed naturaly !! I dont know NK people who had a partner like man man or a lot of wives !!

A little help with your English if you don't mind me saying, but when using punctuation you don't put a space between the word and the punctuation. If you see how I wrote this, the comma is connected to the word as are the periods.

Interesting. It always amazes me that all across the world politicians lie, victimize, and manipulate their people, and we can all see it in other countries. Yet in every country, so many people think “but not our leaders, they are different, they are better!” It’s quite sad.
We should never respect those who enforce that respect through violence.

I do not suffer violence . It is like your mom and dad . Your parents are good because they helped you grow . You dont want people to disrespect your mom because she has grown you . Same with the leaders and NK people . I respect the leaders ... I respect the government ... But it has many flaws that has to change very soon for the good of NK people .

How do nkoreans intend to get rid of the current nkorean government that doesn't want to unite ? They say they want to in words and policy, but their action says otherwise.
Till this day Nkorea with their china puppet leader, has soldiers at the border with skorea that violently refuse reunification. To help their master china, create a buffer.
Nkorea even restricts Internet access and media to prevent any reunification.
To further block reunification, Nkorea are even prevented from visiting Seoul.
Kim family has pretty much destroyed nkorea as a country to exist, normally.
Actions speaks louder than words and policies.

It's been longstanding NK policy to reunite. The elections they won that caused US war was a reunification platform. Recent abandonment of that policy just reflects practicalities of a US puppet in South (who is now impeached, but same party replacement)

That we are all hungry and sad and hate the country ... That we want to leave !! it is true that the country is not perfect ... It has a lot of problems that the NK gov does not talk . There is corruption and there is poor NK people . A lot . But I see in the internet people that say we eat dogs and grass ... That is not the truth . There was a lot of hunger in NK a long time ago but that is not now . Some poor people have little to eat is the truth ... We do not eat mud . I live well because I live in city and have good job .

I am a Marxist-Leninist in the West, so it is interesting to hear about it in the DPRK. It is never taught in school and is mostly from small Communist parties.

Do you know if there are significant differences between the Korean language of North Korea, and the Korean language of South Korea?
Or are they still very similar?
I only really know one word in Korean... I would sound it out as ' gam zeh hah mee da '.
I asked some local, older aged, shop owners of South Korean descent how to say 'thank you' in Korean so I could thank them with more respect when I shop at their stores... I may be pronouncing or spelling my pronunciation wrong.
Apoarently it is 감사합니다 in Korean... but that is likely South Korean, and it seems that South Korean and North Korean use different words, or pronounciations, for at least some terms...
It would be interesting to learn if there are more differences between the two forms of Korean. :D

It's only been 80 years since country was artificially divided, and 70 years since US prevented democratic unification. I would be interested if OP/NK have access to SK culture/media. If they have the same words for computer and fax and email for example.

I think very few if any would say we hate NK or those that live there. Although the US does seem to be sliding into a strict authoritarian state we generally want other countries to allow free movement (inside and outside their borders) and free speech (no consequences for speaking ill of government). If you like simple living and not much distraction from social or digital media I'm happy for you.

We have the choice to live fast or slow. Move to the countryside or another country to live slow, chill or to the city to live fast and exiting. Our slow life is much slower than the fast nkorea life.
Because NK army people are travelling all the way to russia and tiny Ukraine to kill Ukrainians. Pretty much helping mighty huge russia trigger a WW3.

It's the same here, although there's not many military areas in Canada. There's bigger ones in America, especially in the desert.
It's a really good question, and I'm not sure if I have a good answer.
One thing is that you can live fast in the West. I don't know exactly what it's like there, but I know in the USSR (when it was around) there was a lot of paperwork you needed to do things, and not everything was available all the time. That makes you wait. Meanwhile, all that matters in the West is how much money you have, everything is always available. So, people who have a bit of money end up chasing more and more.
If we could get better at enjoying what we have, it would be good.
Politics. You're scared of us, we're scared of you and we have disagreements about how things should work that stop us from making full peace. We know that you're the same as South Koreans, though, and everyone likes South Korean things. So, just politics.

Sure, but I have serious doubts that Tor can escape the NK intranet and make a successful connection. Tor is great, but it's not magic. If the route doesn't exist, then it doesn't exist. Only a select few (likely elite) have a connection to the full internet, and even then I'm sure it's heavily monitored unless you're part of the Kim family.
K-Pop doesn't get in through internet infrastructure.
