Pictures of Trump's Swollen Ankles and Hands Boost Health Rumours After He Admits He's 'Not Doing Well'

https://www.ibtimes.co.uk/pictures-trumps-swollen-ankles-hands-boost-health-rumours-after-he-admits-hes-not-doing-well-1741732

The 79-year-old US President made the unusual admission during an appearance on Fox and Friends, just a day after hosting European leaders, including Ukraine's Volodymyr Zelenskyy, at the White House. Linking his legacy to global diplomacy, Trump remarked that if he succeeds in brokering peace between Ukraine and Russia, it might help secure him a place in the afterlife.

The headline is entirely inaccurate.

From the article:

Donald Trump has sparked fresh health concerns after confessing he is 'not doing well' when it comes to his chances of getting into heaven.

Satan: Holy shit, we're going to need to make some renovations to match this guy's punishment. Tell the daemons in Cocytus we need something between Antenora and Ptolomaea.

floofloof@lemmy.ca · 12 pts · 357d (2 replies)

In a way it's more interesting that Trump has some awareness that he's not a good guy.

BetaBlake@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 357d (1 reply)

He still thinks of himself as the hero in his own story for sure, but he does know he is a motherfucker.

People are so desperate to hear that either Trump or Putin is about to die, these stories have been popping up every few months for a decade or more.

MDCCCLV@lemmy.ca · 5 pts · 357d (1 reply)

At this point, they have like a 5-7% chance of dying every year based on actuary tables. So dying at any point at that age isn't remarkable or unlikely. But there's like a 0-8 year range where it's likely to occur based on that.

don't worry. they'll have some of those museum taxidermists rip everything out and preserve him with an animatronic skeleton.

What if they coerce the corner into refusing to certify the death and they just have a trump themed llm run the animatronic and they all just pretend he's still alive

FuglyDuck@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 357d

Well, the llm is definitely happening.

But he’s gonna die, and they’re gonna let Vance have his presidency for a weekend, and then they’re gonna trot Trump back out as some kind of zombie-god-king.

Yes. Shit is creepy. Welcome to the republican creep show.

Death, after all, claims everyone,
You find it everywhere.
It catches up with even those
Who wear their noses in the air.

The whole, wide world is ruled
With a certain justice, so
That helps perhaps to sweeten
The poor man's pain and woe.

We require the headline match the article, looks like they might have changed it up on you.

Current headline reads:

"Pictures of Trump's Swollen Ankles and Hands Boost Health Rumours After He Admits He's 'Not Doing Well'"

Please make it match up or we'll have to remove it.

spaghettiwestern@sh.itjust.works · 27 pts · 357d (1 reply)

They've changed it. Will do the same.

jordanlund@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 357d

Thanks!

MDCCCLV@lemmy.ca · 12 pts · 357d (2 replies)

Is there a time limit if they change the headline after it's posted? It's also not uncommon to have an A and B headline that different people see, when they're both correct.

jordanlund@lemmy.world MOD · 10 pts · 357d

It varies, if a headline is obviously manipulated by the user, I remove it with the note and when they fix it, I'll restore it.

In cases like this where the mismatch is substantially the same, I'll post up the warning and give them 8 hours or so to fix it, then remove it.

I figure people have to, you know, work and sleep and stuff.

OTOH, after a few hours, if they're making other posts and comments, it's clear they aren't reaponding to the warning and I'll remove it.

bamboo@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 1 pts · 356d

I'm not a mod, but if that a site was showing different content to different people, perhaps an archived version of the article that matches the headline of the post would be necessary as the link so that there's no confusion.

This is going to be a comment.

I really hope trumps keeps kicking till 2028, Vance would be worse as far as I can tell. Trump wants to be popular, liked etc. Vance seems to only want power. This might be just wrong though.

However I am very confident that Trumps incompetence and dementia actively get in the way of him doing as much harm as he probably would otherwise. And Vance doesnt have these issues to the same degree, hes a perfect puppet of those who control him. Unlike trump.

Either way Im scared.

phdepressed@sh.itjust.works · 4 pts · 357d (1 reply)

I wonder if Vance can keep the facist cult going or whether Trump's death would be a death of Stalin type thing. Like there could be some more effective infighting when cult control isn't as established.

phutatorius@lemmy.zip · 1 pts · 354d

It didn't lead to an immediate collapse. Stalin died in 1953. The Russian Communist system staggered on for almost three decades after that.

I guess he's partially correct in that if we are to believe in a heaven, you don't get there by raping women and fucking little girls. It raises the question of whether you can be lifelong rapist and pedophile and then do a good deed to erase the bad. As if it's based on some kind of morality point system.

MDCCCLV@lemmy.ca · 3 pts · 357d (4 replies)

In Christian theology, it's mostly explicitly not based on works but solely on baptism and 100% forgiveness of sin. Depending on how you interpret the theology repentance can be required though, not just asking for forgiveness.

phutatorius@lemmy.zip · 1 pts · 356d (3 replies)

Straight from the Bible: "Faith without works is death."

MDCCCLV@lemmy.ca · 1 pts · 356d (2 replies)

That is intended for believers to do good things. That doesn't change that forgiveness from sins can be requested at any time.

phutatorius@lemmy.zip · 1 pts · 354d (1 reply)

Requested, sure. My point being that it's only a heretical minority of Pharisees, liars and hypocrites who believe that forgiveness will be granted if they only talk the talk and don't walk the walk.

MDCCCLV@lemmy.ca · 1 pts · 353d

No that's not correct at all. A large amount of protestant churches have the doctrine that salvation is through grace alone and not works. That was a big party of the Catholic protestant split. If you're Catholic and disagree that's fine, but it's untrue to say that it is a fringe opinion.

Hayduke@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 357d (2 replies)

Article is shit. Doesn’t include the quote or context. At least I didn’t see it in the reader version that loaded for me. That said, hearing his quote in full context, I interpreted that as he doesn’t feel he is doing well in terms of honorable/benevolent deeds or accomplishments. I may be wrong, I guess you could hear it either way, but that’s the impression I got.

The clock is ticking on him, but we will be the last to know what time it is. (Or something like that. Sounded poetic in my head)

tl;dnr I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I don’t think he is saying that he is dying soon.

null_dot@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 2 pts · 357d (1 reply)

I mostly agree, I think.

I think the quote is taken out of context.

However, it's unusual for someone like Trump to mention the afterlife - although we shouldn't read too much into that.

Having said that, the guy is ~80.

Aren't many overweight 85 year olds around.

It would be interesting to see some stats on life expectancy for someone his age and weight.

I wouldn't be suprised if it's something like 20% chance of dying in the next 12 months, then if he's still alive in 1 year a 30% chance of dying in the following 12 months, then 40% and so on. The chances of him making 90 are infinitessimal.

So yeah, any commentary is conjecture, but it's not just noise.

Hayduke@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 356d

Yeah. I’m with you. Him lamenting on that is… unusual. Though he could also just be fishing for sympathy and support in an entirely misguided way.
