But how hard is it to clean the inevitable fur and hairball puke?

PattyMcB@lemmy.world · 95 pts · 357d (6 replies)

...or worse

navi@lemmy.tespia.org · 151 pts · 357d (4 replies)

Exactly this.

I had the bed in OPs meme and it was great at first! My cats loved it, they zoomed through day and night. Then one day I noticed only one of the cats would enter at a time and only while I wasn't looking. Eventually I found out one of our cats was holding politically extreme meetings under the bed which eventually resulted in an attempted coup d'etat.

Anyways, great bed. My cats run my house now and I get to sleep under the bed in a cool maze!

how did you come up with this on the spot? Psychedelics? (Serious question)

Lupus@feddit.org · 23 pts · 356d

Some people just have silly minds. I tirelessly endeavor to be more like them.

navi@lemmy.tespia.org · 8 pts · 356d (1 reply)

I was pooping and I had a free minute to practice comedy!

kernelle@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 356d

I'm 90% sure this is how the SCP Foundation was founded

billwashere@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 356d

After having pets for the last 30 years this was my first thought... oh great, another place for them to leave me "presents" (like poop, vomit, dead mice, etc)

relianceschool@lemmy.world · 36 pts · 357d (14 replies)

Seems like you'd just lift up the mattress like they did for this picture.

errer@lemmy.world · 58 pts · 357d (12 replies)

Lifting out a mattress to clean is a huge pain in the ass

CmdrShepard49@sh.itjust.works · 12 pts · 357d (7 replies)

Welcome to cat life.

Bane_Killgrind@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 9 pts · 357d (6 replies)

Woah Woah

You do not need pets to vacuum out under your bed

trxxruraxvr@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 357d

I don't need to lift my mattress to vacuum under the bed either

CmdrShepard49@sh.itjust.works · 10 pts · 357d (1 reply)

Of course you don't need pets for that. You just need a vacuum.

harmbugler@piefed.social · 1 pts · 356d

And a will of steel

dingus@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 356d

Why would I vacuum under my bed? That's where I shove items when I pretend like I'm cleaning the house.

BeigeAgenda@lemmy.ca · 6 pts · 357d

I'm trying to teach them to hoover under the bed, but they refuse.

burntbacon@discuss.tchncs.de · 2 pts · 356d

I have a bed similar to this, and it just gets a little dusty. I don't think I've actually cleaned it in a decade, and at most there's just a very faint layer of dust (I just checked) in one or two spots. What are you doing that a mostly sealed area is getting dirty?

cynar@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 356d

Some beds have storage underneath. They have a lift mechanism that lifts the whole mattress. If you used one of those as a base, then cleaning gets a lot easier.

kbobabob@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 1 pts · 356d (2 replies)

Traditional mattresses need to be rotated/flipped anyway. Also, it's a good idea to clean under the bed occasionally.

kofe@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 356d (1 reply)

Wait why do they need to be rotated???

kbobabob@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 1 pts · 356d

It helps them wear more evenly.

retrolasered@feddit.uk · 8 pts · 357d

It sounds so easy when you say it

Venator@lemmy.nz · 2 pts · 356d

just keep a bunch of cardboard boxes from deliveries under the bed instead, then you can just throw them away when they get dirty

rem26_art@fedia.io · 59 pts · 357d

the cats are gonna take up the whole bed and then you'll be forced to sleep in the maze

iAvicenna@lemmy.world · 53 pts · 356d (4 replies)

ahh welcome to the nightmare in cleaning street

Kolanaki@pawb.social · 18 pts · 356d (3 replies)

Outta sight, outta mind.

burntbacon@discuss.tchncs.de · 4 pts · 356d (1 reply)

Hmm, isn't scent one of those senses tied closely to memory and is permeable to a mattress?

Also, at OP, cleaning wouldn't be too difficult. Lift mattress, apply vacuum hose.

iAvicenna@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 356d

Many double mattresses are super unwieldy and heavy. You try to lift them, they just end up bending from one side, super annoying. your waist also does not thank you after this process.

iAvicenna@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 356d

not my mind, sure as hell not my wife's

SkunkWorkz@lemmy.world · 42 pts · 356d

more like this because my cat is too dumb to find the exit:

winkly@lemmy.world · 38 pts · 357d

Great place to store small dead animals

Empricorn@feddit.nl · 35 pts · 357d (1 reply)

Try to give them medicine once and you'll be lifting the box spring and mattress off late at night! I guarantee it...

Bonesince1997@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 357d

Before attempting such things (with or without this crazy setup), it is best to block all escapes/hiding spots, like closing a door to a room with these risks.

asteriskeverything@lemmy.world · 32 pts · 357d (2 replies)

Good luck if your cat shits under the bed

GreenKnight23@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 356d

Bluewing@lemmy.world · 32 pts · 356d (2 replies)

No absolutely not!

The little orange Zip is already dragging socks under the bed to fight. I would never be able to get them back

Orange cat behaviour

Bluewing@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 356d

She is a whirl-wind of terror for sure.

SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world · 30 pts · 357d

Do you want a spider empire? Because this is how you get a spider empire.

Not if the cat overlords roam the labyrinth. If it moves its free game :)

Hairball puke pile under my bed.

I mean there's already one there, but i can at least get to it.

This is the stupidest idea I’ve ever seen - I love it!

Stupid idea but great execution

Strider@lemmy.world · 20 pts · 357d

Taking apart the bed at night because they brought a mouse there.

Nice.

PattyMcB@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 357d

That's cats regardless of bed trappings

jordanlund@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 357d

One of our cats would go in and we would never see her again...

InternetCitizen2@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 357d (8 replies)

And its not too dark for them in the interior?

PattyMcB@lemmy.world · 14 pts · 357d (3 replies)

You don't have cats, do you? Lol

psx_crab@lemmy.zip · 6 pts · 357d

I do. They don't go into the donut because it's too dark, i have to cut a hole at the back so they would go in. Bunch of pussy i say.

InternetCitizen2@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 357d (1 reply)

I don't 😣

DeathByBigSad@sh.itjust.works · 4 pts · 356d

I understand that, but the center has no light. Or does it have a dim LED?

a_wild_mimic_appears@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 6 pts · 357d

there's still enough light for cats, believe me; and they use their whiskers as navigational aid too btw

dingus@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 356d

So I just got a cat and I have been leaving the light on by the litterbox at night. Are you telling me I can shut it off and he'll still find it ok lol I am dumb

Maybe my cats are weird, but I've never really had the 2 am zoomie issue. One spends most of the night by my feet. I don't know what the other two usually do, but if I get up to use the bathroom, I'll often see them lounging in the hallway, like they're holding a meeting.

Flax_vert@feddit.uk · 4 pts · 356d (1 reply)

This'll be great for a rabbit

ickplant@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 356d

One of my dogs would love it too. She is a dachshund and loves hiding and burrowing.
