I remember back when Columbine happened, and while the shooters were thought to be there in the school actively killing students, the cops were moving around aimlessly, chatting and laughing in little groups, like it was a weekend cop picnic. I was outraged by the lack of concern or urgency.
Decades later, it was the same thing at Uvalde, except we had video of them inside the school, and saw how absolutely cowardly they were.
It was the same at Parkland, where the school security officer cowered outside, and then talked other cops out of entering, as they stood outside with their guns, and listened to the killer murder innocent, unarmed students, one after another.
All those years, and nothing had changed. Cops are just as cowardly and useless today as they've always been.

I've thought about this a lot since Luigi. The power of these alt reality movements is derived from their mouthpieces. Without their army of apologists, every ridiculous lie sounds as stupid as it is and always was.

I get the viewpoint, but it did hit a bit differently when people that actively promote offensively hateful viewpoints and widespread gun availability incur the exact sort of expected outcome you'd expect from going down that path.
If you callously say murders are worth it to have guns everywhere, then this can be expected.
If he goes out of his way to stir up a hornets nest to try to hurt others in the area, then I'm not going to be too surprised that he gets stung.
Even as this should be a sign to tone down the rhetoric, a lot of them are doubling down with confrontational perspectives (well out of reach of the public mind you).

America's unwillingness to give up guns has desensitized us to violence. Tit-for-tat political violence was the obvious outcome of that. Now even if the country implemented sensible gun policies, I think it's too late. The violence will continue because we're desensitized to it

Most of these generic American Christians are taught it was gods will. That is.... ANYTHING is gods will. I used to find that so interesting as I was raised in all that abuse. No matter WHAT happens, it's always god that intended it or wanted it. There was some "purpose" or reason.

One major difference between the Kirk shooting and that of the Minnesota legislators is that when Hortman was murdered, the rest of the Democrats still showed up to work.

Go back and watch that video of Taco standing outside talking about how safe DC is, as he's surrounded by others and Secret Service everywhere.
Hegseth was standing nearby. Look at his face, look at how his eyes dart all over the place, like he expects there is a book depository nearby...and that was BEFORE this shooting.
I think they were all already paranoid as hell because they must know how unpopular all of them really are.

I do not want to normalize murder as a trump card in political discourse - not any further than the right has already mind you.
But I am enjoying seeing these hate mongers feel some of that turned back their way, in a very public manner. Having the outside world ‘cancelled’ for themselves for fear of assassins and high powered rifles. Always having to travel with security, constantly worried if their next organic street encounter will be with a genuine fan, or ‘a fan’ with a vendetta.
Tolerance paradox aside, I still condemn this though - because political assassination does not bode well in the immediate term, nor the long term if this kind of activity keeps repeating… it ultimately only leaves the most hardline and ideological voices on the soapbox.

You think anyone out there actually cares about that failure of an author to defend him with their lives? (He's also only a failure in the sense he gave up writing, btw. Rarely do the first books get published. I think he just thought it would get him rich quick, not an actual devotee to the craft.)
