He would never do that, he’s too narcissistic. Let the copious amounts of Filet o Fish and lack of vegetables do him in. I’m sure that would be a lot more painful and miserable than an instant gunshot.
Narcissists commit suicide at a much greater rate than the general population, and it's a good thing they do. They're saving a bit of work for the rest of society. I'd be okay with sterilisation, but I won't complain about one less mentally ill monster on the streets.
I don't know anything about him or why he shot himself, but I remember it looked like he felt bad for scaring the the people in the room with the gun, and so quickly finished it off.
He was a politician who was caught having accepted a bribe, basically, which seems bizarrely mundane today. He said something to the effect of "Don't look, this will affect you" before he did it, too... petty self-aware for someone who's about to kill themselves in front of a crowd.
Edit: The wikipedia article actually has it in there.
After he had finished speaking and handing out the notes to his staffers, Dwyer grabbed a manila envelope and drew a Model 19 .357 Magnum revolver from it, causing others to panic. Dwyer backed up against the wall, holding the weapon close to his body, and said, "Please, please leave the room if this will — if this will affect you."
[...]
Several people in the room pleaded with Dwyer to surrender the gun or tried to approach him and seize the weapon. Dwyer warned against either action, saying as his last words: "This will hurt someone". Dwyer then killed himself with a single shot through the roof of the mouth. His death was recorded by at least five running news cameras.
This is wild to read in 2025. It sounds like the case against him was legitimate because the case wasn't able to be repealed, but most people today would barely blink at a no-bid contract finance bribe. We're living in a post-shame world.
And I only know about this man from the press conference/suicide sections of this article, but he seemed intelligent and empathetic. Even if he was guilty of bribery, it's tragic that he took his life.
I actually thought he did it so the family wouldnt lose anything. Since he never resigned wouldnt the family also have received benefits from his death. Maybe im wrong, but I felt like I read that a while back.
This happens in the developing world on occasion, with the assumption is that insurance pays out to the family. I'm 99% sure doing the deed yourself means it doesn't pay out at all. Tragic all the way down.
Except that this time it did pay out. The money didn't come from life insurance, it came from his pension which would've been lost had he lived and been convicted
Ah - that's my bad, I forgot civilized places in the world had pension still and not speculative con jobs where we prop up the private industry via the stock market with retirement money.
This is an amazing video on what happens to a human after the shot to the head. Massive exit of blood through the nose. I haven't watched it in years but it's burned into my memory
You are both wrong. Nothing happened to his neck. After he finished pushing equality, tolerance, women's and civil liberties for the day, he met up with his trans girlfriend and sadly, overdosed on fentanyl later that night.
Rest In Power, king.
Is what happens when you aren't very aware of anatomy and run the risk of actually not hitting the brain.
The 'gun under the chin' method can lead you to shoot out your nose and eyes, but still survive. Now if there's a gusher you'd probably hit the brain enough. But ear to ear is way more likely to actually instantly kill you.
Same with the guy in the FBI training video where a guy gets put in an interrogation room without being frisked. He takes a drink of water, puts the cap back on the bottle, pulls out a .45, bangs his temple, and the nose just gushes blood like a fire hydrant.
wow didn't know about this guy till I read the stuff here. The politicians' threshold for feeling shame / fear of punishment sure has gone down the drain.

What is this actually a picture of? I don't get the joke.

I believe that's R. Budd Dwyer; he's pulling a revolver out of that envelope just before shooting himself in the head.

Trump doing that would be dark?
we still joke how Hitler wasn't that bad, because by the end he killed Hitler.

I don't want him to die. I want him to be convicted, to be humiliated, and to suffer in prison.

And then die in prison

Yeah, but I would settle for it

It might be fast food. It might be ending civilization in a nuclear firestorm. Guess we're gonna find out!

A narcissist feels that no one else should have the honor of killing them other than themselves. A true narcissist death.

I think the dark part is that the punchline is a man who killed himself on live television
Sabata11792@ani.social · 11 pts · 255d
I will be disappointed if Trump dosent die infornt of a camera.
rmuk@feddit.uk · 5 pts · 255d
Dunno. I'd be satisfied if he died on his own, forgotten, abandoned, somewhere cold and dark.
Mirshe@lemmy.world · 19 pts · 255d
The difference is that Dwyer did it on live television, in a highly publicized press statement. Cameras didn't cut away.
IAmNorRealTakeYourMeds@lemmy.world · 16 pts · 255d
Trump doing that would be so memeable though.
