Anybody where I can find an eighth of that third guy?

TRBoom@lemmy.zip · 43 pts · 244d (16 replies)

The spores are legal to buy online for study.

Completely unrelated, but used coffee grounds make for a decent mushroom grow medium.

Like if you wanted to grow some button mushrooms.

Addv4@lemmy.world · 26 pts · 244d (10 replies)

Eh, coffee grounds aren't a great medium for most mushrooms, they're a cheap one that requires more sterilization than most home growers can do (I've tried them plenty before, they almost always lead to some trich). The traditional method is to use rye, but honestly brown rice flour teks are generally the best from my experience for various types of mushrooms.

Never ceases to amaze me.

Ask someone a question, and you get an answer like "I'm not google". But if you state incorrect information, they will respond with the answer you were seeking to begin with.

That's a mentality you'd only find on Earth. Not like those other planets, like Mars, and Venus, and Pluto, and the sun. You don't find this behavior on those planets!

lime@feddit.nu · 14 pts · 244d (2 replies)

so torn between "you're right, you don't" and "well actually the mars rovers all use a redundant hardware and consensus algorithms for error correction so..."

you've successfully disabled my terminal knowitallism!

Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 243d (1 reply)

Great! Now I'm charging you an invoice for $600k, unless you have insurance. Because in this country, we don't treat mental health seriously, until we need to TREAT mental health. Then it's serious business, which costs a lot of money!

star spangled banner plays in the background

lime@feddit.nu · 4 pts · 243d

okay, but i will only pay $120 because that's when my country's "high cost protection" will kick in and the state will foot the rest of the bill.

LittleBorat3@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 243d (1 reply)

That's because no people live on these planets

Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 243d

Pssshhhh!!!!! That's conspiracy talk! Men are from Mars, women are from Venis. One's got a yum-yum, the other's got a penis!

Don't you watch Bobs Burgers? Because if not......you should. It's a really good show....

Uncle Ben's Tek ftw

Addv4@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 243d

Uncles bens aren't bad for the low cost of entry, but brf teks are my preferred because I've had the most success with them. Either way, those are pretty easy search terms.

LittleBorat3@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 242d

That works best with liquid mycelium, by the time you can make that you have a pressure pot and you could use better teks. You are just skipping the autoclaving with uncle Ben's.

khepri@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 244d

pressure cook some whole oats (like the kind they sell for horses, not rolled oats/oatmeal), spawn on that in mason jars, then transfer to a bed of pressure-cooked coco coir when fully colonized, mix, cover, and wait.

AndyMFK@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 7 pts · 243d

I really like the uncle Ben's tek theoretically.

Inject your spores or liquid culture into bags of microwavable brown rice (maybe 1cc per bag), snip the corner off and seal with micropore tape.

It's already at an appropriate moisture content and is sterile.

Then spawn to bulk as normal.

Theoretically speaking, this is how I'd do it, and I'd have a lot of success with it. Although I don't use the uncle Ben's rice, i find it's a bit too wet. Use a cheaper store brand, they're a little drier and work perfectly.

The front page is so commercially neutral, and then you have this banger in the product catalog.

Given the time of year, potentially your local wood

(Disclaimer: don't forage mushrooms unless you or someone you're with knows what they're doing)

acockworkorange@mander.xyz · 5 pts · 244d

ABSOLUTELY NOT. Psylocibe is a Little Brown Mushroom(TM). There are so many poisonous lookalikes it's not even funny.

Rooskie91@discuss.online · 3 pts · 244d

Gotta check the pastures.

EtherWhack@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 244d

I've used shamrock in the past. Their payment process seems a bit sketchy by getting an email to pay through cash app (given the current legality), but I did get legit product when a last got some a couple years ago.

I guess they got a warning last year from the FDA for having Δ-8 products. (But not psylocibin???)

They do look to still be around so it could be worth a shot. My advice though with ordering something like this online is only buy if you can afford to possibly lose the cash/product in the mail from confiscation or from a possible scam.

ShaggySnacks@lemmy.myserv.one · 5 pts · 243d

Depending on what country you live, you can just order mushrooms or other psychedelics off the internet.

I have an eighth that I had tucked away and forgot about. I recently found it but am kinda scared of it. Its at least a decade old now, and I don't know how long they're good for... I don't imagine they age like wine. I was thinking of maybe trying to make a tea but don't really know how to do that either.

Addv4@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 244d

A decade old is probably long gone, unless it was pressure stored and even then...

PS, teas suck, try to make capsules or have a lemon tek (lemon juice increases the effect a good bit, so either less for the same trip or a more intense trip).

fly agaric does delerium, some people do something similar with benadryl.

Soggy@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 242d

Delirium is one of the less fun psycho-activities, and A. muscaria also comes with dissociation, nausea, and painful stomach cramps. Hallucination, "drunkenness", and euphoria are part of the ride too but there's generally better ways to get there. It grows everywhere, is easy to recognize, hard to permanently mess you up with, and still almost nobody bothers with it.

Aedis@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 244d (4 replies)

Is that supposed to be an amanita regalis? Those would just pop out randomly in my back yard. Extremely poisonous if you don't know how to deal with them.

iamericandre@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 243d (2 replies)

Pretty sure it’s supposed to be amanita muscaria

Aedis@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 243d (1 reply)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amanita_muscaria

This is why I'm confused.

The component that makes you high in muscaria and regalis is also poisonous in higher concentrations. Regalia iirc has 100-1000x more of it making it a lot harder to process.

iamericandre@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 243d

I stand corrected
