Trump bashed for using Mar-a-Lago 'blanket fort' to monitor Iran strikes

https://www.rawstory.com/trump-iran-2675455322/

The White House posted a photo of Trump alongside Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, Director of Personnel Dan Scavino, and other administration officials on its X account on Saturday evening. The photo shows a makeshift room surrounded by black curtains and multiple maps of the region.

Jesus H Fucking Christ. This is a security violation, severe damage to national security, complete incompetence and insult to all of us who take national security seriously of epic proportions.

Also leaving couch fucker in vice president actually in charge in the situation room is such a dereliction of duty.

These were probably the same Iran invasion plans he had been letting like Kid Rock look at and were likely seen by numerous spies.

A security violation? From the guy who said "You're the president of the United States, you can declassify just by saying it's declassified, even by thinking about it." during an interview? From the administration that accidentally texted it's plans to bomb Yemen to a journalist 2 hours before the attack? You mean the guy that tweeted photos from a satellite so classified, the last guy that leaked photos from it was sent to jail for espionage? The guy that stole hundreds of classified documents and destroyed an unknown number more? Nah...

MDCCCLV@lemmy.ca · -17 pts · 202d (4 replies)

All the first parts are actually legit, the entire intelligence apparatus is designed to gather information for POTUS. They can declassify stuff solo. Like everything else its assumed the elected official will do their job and not just blab for fun.

ReluctantMuskrat@lemmy.world · 15 pts · 202d

POTUS cannot declassify stuff solo. They can declare they want to declassify a document but then a team reviews the document and blacks out content that can't be declassified such as intelligence agents and assets in the field. POTUS cannot declare a doc declassified and then just hand out copies.

What a bullshit country we've become.

We've arranged ourselves to be in compliance with the content of one, doddering racist's fever dream of America.

The video of him walking around shaking hands and getting back pats from the abundantly available sycophants and psychopaths at Mar-A-Lago while he launches an illegal war to further destabilize an entire region and kill 100+ children at a hospital is viscerally disgusting.

QinShiHuangsShlong@lemmy.ml · 13 pts · 202d (1 reply)

We've arranged ourselves to be in compliance with the content of one, doddering racist's fever dream of America.

This war is possibly the most American thing he has ever done. He's simply following the long tradition of American imperialism in the Middle East: from the CIA-backed coup that overthrew Iran's democratically elected Mossadeq in 1953 to protect oil interests, to arming the Mujahideen against the Soviets, funding the very networks that would fracture into the Taliban and al-Qaeda; from Bush Sr.'s 1991 Gulf War that entrenched permanent bases in the region, to Bush Jr.'s 2003 invasion of Iraq built on fabricated WMD claims; to Obama's 2011 NATO intervention in Libya that toppled Gaddafi under a "responsibility to protect" mandate, then abandoned the country to militia warlords and slave markets. Each chapter follows the same script: regime change, chaos, retreat, and the next generation of blowback.

And what’s with the hat the last few days, is his hair falling out or something?

It would not be out of the ordinary for someone hours age to get cancer, especially with his lifestyle.

ultranaut@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 202d (1 reply)

It makes him look so much older for some reason, or maybe he is just aging hard and fast these days. That he has it on at night and indoors does suggest he is using it because he is insecure about something or having some kind of issue the hat covers up.

Nah, Trump hates the WH. Wants to be as far from DC as he can, because he's insulated from actual people at Mar-A-Lago. It's his Versailles, truly - he loves that he only has to hear sycophancy there, and basically forcing his Cabinet to relocate there for months while he governs from there is probably a huge power trip for him.

Yes, that is the point of this article and the reason we’re all commenting on it. Idk why you’re so upset. Did you come here to bitch that someone wrote this article? Or that we’re talking about it?

Tetragrade@leminal.space · 1 pts · 202d

The idea is that if there were appropriate checks on his power, he wouldn't have attacked Iran. So the former is a mechanism to achieve the latter. This article is part of a larger system of signalling mechanisms that previously worked to reduce the number of countries blown up by the US, but which is collapsing in light of deteriorating socio-material conditions.
