Wasn't that said to minimise the authority of experts rather than as a statement on the public? Specifically, Gove was trying to pass policies that the so called 'experts' were saying wouldn't work so he tried to spin the narrative by saying politicians shouldn't listen to experts and people should do what they're told.
It seems to be a common social phenomenon, something about how our human brains are wired. People have expert knowledge - burn the witches! China's Great Leap Forward, the Cambodian genocide under Khmer Rouge, and on and on. I hate that we as a society haven't figured out how to avoid this yet.
Maybe, but I think a lot of Sontaran might comes from sheer numbers: "In the Sontaran Military Academy, we have hatchings of a million cadets at each muster parade."
Their fear of others also drives them to get bigger and bigger cars, causing them to become even more detached from anyone who is not already close to them.
When looking at the social anxiety epidemic across America, very much affecting young people, I’m sorry to say this is not true.
People think they’re unique in not wanting to pick up a phone to order a meal from a restaurant, but it’s everyone now. SO many people want to minimize social contact to an extreme degree. It’s part of why political opposition to rampant oppression is so lack luster.
I can provide LIBERTY FREEDOM coffins at a discount for true patriots. Each coffin comes with an engraved American flag and a gun holster. Today's your can pre-order your LIBERTY FREEDOM coffin for $4,747.47. Don't 86 your rights!

I already said it doesn't matter if this virus becomes wide spread or not, US will never do another shut down - I'm fact to wipe us out just release a virus, most would rather die than stay home for a few weeks
The US was lucky to have an administration change when it did right as COVID19 took hold. Had the pedophile been running things any longer, the entire country would have burned to the ground.
"Inject bleach to kill the virus?"
"Fire our smartest guy for.. reasons.." etc. etc.
and we already seeing significant amount of other viral infections going around as of recently because of the lack of protocols and vaccinations. currently theres ones that is going around causing sore throats, last year was the year of covid painful sore throats.
Yeah I didn't want to give it props since I hate AI, but it did really well. I wonder if it's easier for it to manipulate it if the base image is also AI generated.
Yup. There's also deaths from hantavirus every year in California. The problem is the variant, its the first time a lot of these countries are being exposed to the more contagious than usual form of hantavirus that in Chile & Argentina is known as Andean Hantavirus.
Chile has a long history of dealing with this and usually takes all the necessary precautions, but add some dumbass gringos (north americans and Europeans) into the mix and they basically go into a remote area and snort lines of mouse shit and then are surprised when they caught a really bad virus.
Argentina doesn't really take any precautioms afaik.
different species, variant implies its the same species but different genotype. hantaa virus of korea is a different species than sin nombre of the midwest, and andes virus. the first 2 are quite virulent.
All the losers are having sudden flare-ups of their persecution complex and are desperately using something that will never happen to create a feeling of power in their sad empty lives.
At the moment, there is no cure or vaccine. Just like with Ebola, until a few years ago when some non-African people got infected, and they suddenly whipped up something.
Isn't it obvious? There is no vaccine. We've seen human-to-human transmission even with short contacts like a flight. It's able to kill people. And we know that at least in the USA the government will not do anything to protect the people.
Yeah, the irony of this kind of meme saying "I will not live in fear" and yet they quite obviously are living every day in fear of conspiracies. Anyone who has read a few sentences of commentary is aware that Hantavirus is not going to be a pandemic.
COVID played a major part in my mother's death, so I feel comfortable saying I welcome the hentavirus to our country. If all goes poorly, maybe it will take care of some of our more troublesome septuagenarians. 🤔
Oh yeah, I don't want to see people die BUT the human population has reached a point where survival of the fittest isn't a thing, so how we have complete morons all over.
Case in point. A plastic bag from a grocery store has "Do not put on head" printed on it. Here's the problem 1. If you're a small child that legitimately doesn't know better, you can't read, this is zero help. 2. If you can read it, you're old enough to understand not to do it in the first place, and you're a dip shit.
Just take the warning labels off obvious shit and let nature fix things. It's that big of a deal to wear a mask at a minimum? Sure.
At least with the bag, it's a reminder to tired parents not to let the child put the bag on its head, to tell the child about the danger, and not to leave the child alone with the bag because they'll test it.
If they leave the child alone with the bag and a cat, the child will learn 2 3 lessons: fur helps prevent plastic bag suffocation, and claws/teeth can penetrate both the bag and human skin. Also cats prefer to choose whether and where to be enclosed.

I would just for shits and giggles paint the house very blue (probably mostly accents) and if confronted deny any political affiliation (though there will be many hints) and say "It's to represent the sky" or smth :D
I get your point and joke, but I don’t want my tax money going to gerrymandered politicians that want to imprison women because of their private health decisions.
Ironically all the data shows that hantavirus isn’t a big deal because it doesn’t spread person to person unless it’s the Andes strain. The stuff we see right now is sensationalist headlines for clicks and views. As long as you stay away from rodents you won’t get it.
The strain from the cruise ship is the Andes strain.
Avoiding rodents isn't the answer to this one (still avoid them, that's just not quite the correct answer here).
The risk to the average person is low for other reasons.
One difference is in the very fact that we can name the virus: we know more about how it spreads and the symptoms to look for. It's not an unknown virus, unlike in 2020 when we were dealing with something we had never seen in humans before.
If someone does start to show symptoms it will be tested for earlier during diagnosis than it otherwise might be since hantavirus is in the news. Earlier detection will reduce spread (if we even reach that point, many of the passengers are in quarantine).
The other passengers being in quarantine is one of the biggest things lowering the risk.
I cross the street whenever I need to, without checking for danger. I never lock the doors. I don't check to make sure I turned off the stove. I don't wear seat belts. I go into the homes of sketchy strangers. CAUSE I DON'T LIVE IN FEAR/S
