When you embrace the cringe, you can become ungovernable

CallMeButtLove@lemmy.world · 56 pts · 1d (1 reply)

I want to have fun.

I want to go dancing.

I want to laugh with close friends.

I want to make memories I will cherish.

I want to let go of my troubles and anxieties.

I want to believe that good things are still possible.

I want to know there is more to this life than counting days until we shed this mortal coil.

I like this silly video.

Cringe compilation. Look inside. Conventionally unattractive people having fun.

dogdeanafternoon@lemmy.ca · 5 pts · 11h

I get the joke, but if hot people danced like that, I’d still laugh.

baggachipz@sh.itjust.works · 26 pts · 1d (5 replies)

False, there is a woman there.

ickplant@lemmy.world · 54 pts · 1d (1 reply)

strop@lemmy.ml · 10 pts · 1d

Never give up

BooBees@fedinsfw.app · 27 pts · 1d (1 reply)

Brave of you to assume that’s not the dj’s wife as a plant to get them dancing

BigTurkey@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 15 pts · 1d

As a DJ, I can confirm this is a legit strategy.

brown567@sh.itjust.works · 11 pts · 1d

She thought she was a man when she got there, Lemmy does that to ya

Kolanaki@pawb.social · 22 pts · 1d (10 replies)

Why are so many guys dressed like a neo-nazi skinhead?

OriginEnergySux@lemmy.world · 25 pts · 1d (4 replies)

They are probs S.H.A.R.Ps (Skinheads Against Racial Prejudice), they easily get confused with Neo-Nazis

Edit: ignore the hyperlink it created coz of the format

Leviathan@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 1d (1 reply)

Love the SHARPs. My buddy is big into the scene and they commonly have matinee shows on Sundays. Great time.

OriginEnergySux@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 1d

Yeah i used to be one back in my teens, miss the bracers haha

Nooodel@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 1d (1 reply)

Except for the guy wearing a loNSDAle shirt (German Nazis like the brand bc it looks like NSDAP when you wear a jacket over it, which is a forbidden Nazi slogan in Germany)

StinkyRedMan@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 17h

Lot of left wing skinhead wear lonsdale too, it was part of the skinhead culture way before there was any politic in the movement...

Arachnidbrilliant@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 10 pts · 1d (3 replies)

Who doesn’t like ska?

pineapplelover@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 4 pts · 1d

I love ska and ska punk specifically

clay_pidgin@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 1d (1 reply)

I'm not a big fan.

SpookyBogMonster@lemmy.ml · 4 pts · 1d

How dare!

Jarix@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 8h

The history of skinheads is tied to calypso/ska just like this from Britain in the 60s/70s. During the late 70s/80s neo Nazi asshat appropriated this culture and it has caused this reaction ever since. Especially in the punk scenes

MrNesser@lemmy.world · 15 pts · 1d

I want to make a snarky comment about suspenders but the video just says it all

okwhateverdude@lemmy.world · 14 pts · 1d (1 reply)

Oh! I remember this night! This was right before the MDMA spray went around and the orgy started.

wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz · 1 pts · 1d

What.

Sergio@piefed.social · 12 pts · 1d (3 replies)

Woah towards the end the guy in red braces is actually doing the original "ska" dance. Compare to: https://youtu.be/j0ZrHMY5Cso?t=36

Crosspost to !ska@lemmy.blahaj.zone !

Compared to the US 1990s to early 2000s ska revival skanking.

Sergio@piefed.social · 2 pts · 7h (1 reply)

Very interesting... in the early- to mid-90s I had some friends who were really into 2nd wave 2-tone (like Madness, Selecter, Specials, English Beat) and what they taught me involved more knee-kicks, like what this influencer's doing here: https://youtu.be/IWpUHMow5LM?t=2

Personally I liked the first generation of ska the best, when it blended with rocksteady and early reggae, very soulful stuff.

SoleInvictus@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 2 pts · 3h

Agreed. I was in a number of ska bands throughout the nineties, but they all wanted to be third wave. I vastly preferred the sound and energy of first wave.

ComradePenguin@lemmy.ml · 11 pts · 1d

This looks fun, more fun than most dancefloors.

Zombiepirate@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 1d

Needs more lederhosen.

tomi000@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 1d

I watched it without sound first and got curious. That was NOT what I imagined xD

boobookittyfrick@lemmy.zip · 9 pts · 1d

RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 1d

Reminds me of these guys.

jaybone@lemmy.zip · 7 pts · 1d

No fun. Only dance.

aldhissla@piefed.world · 7 pts · 1d (1 reply)

Ok, so we're skinheads now? Not complaining, just asking...

Nouvellalia@lemmy.world · 20 pts · 1d

I'd rather be with a bunch of sharps when the nazis try to crash a show than almost anyone else. Not only are they highly anti racism, they know the one way to deal with nazis, and they do not waste time.

Bluefalcon@discuss.tchncs.de · 6 pts · 1d (4 replies)

Like we all she the massive creep in the middle, right?

brown567@sh.itjust.works · 4 pts · 1d (3 replies)

But did you see the moonwalking gorilla?

Bluefalcon@discuss.tchncs.de · 1 pts · 1d (2 replies)

Is that Pete from The Adventures of Pete & Pete?

brown567@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 1d (1 reply)

I don't think so, but looking back it was definitely a bear, not a gorilla https://youtu.be/xNSgmm9FX2s

Bluefalcon@discuss.tchncs.de · 1 pts · 11h

But on the real, don't be that guy. Those are all signs she doesn't want you and he is to aggressive.

MajinBlayze@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 1d

Needs more beans

yermaw@sh.itjust.works · 4 pts · 1d

Looks like the sort of people from This Is England, before shit got nasty.

reader@lemmy.zip · 2 pts · 1d

kinda confusing tbh

niktemadur@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1d

Notice the lack of ganja smoke.

daannii@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1d

So many suspenders

Tiral@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1d

I feel like the chick is just trying to fit in and danced like that because of peer pressure.

Why the fuck are we (as lemmings) compare to actual Nazi ?

Bustedknuckles@lemmy.world · 22 pts · 1d (12 replies)

Based on music, I thought they were Sharps

MunkysUnkEnz0@lemmy.world · 15 pts · 1d (1 reply)

Skin heads against racial prejudice.

Looks like they're doing a little bit of amp paste too.

Sergio@piefed.social · 6 pts · 1d

I thought ska skins and sharps were overlapping Venn diagrams but not a perfect circle. My knowledge of such is limited to a few years in the 90s tho.

dylanmorgan@slrpnk.net · 8 pts · 1d (1 reply)

It’s my understanding that sharps were primarily an American thing, but the original skins in the UK were anti-fascist. Not sure if these are Brits or Americans but either way probably not Nazis.

RepleteLocum@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 3 pts · 1d

From what I heard (from a lgbtq skinhead in southern america), skinheads were leftist and the first with the movement. They protected local black stores and did other community services.

BarrelAgedBoredom@lemmy.zip · 6 pts · 1d (5 replies)

Can't speak for the music but red and white braces = nazi skins. I didn't see any colored laces so it's hard to say for sure if they're white supremacists, the color code has fallen out of fashion too. If there was a variety of colored braces and laces it'd be pretty easy to say they're not nazi skins, but the fact that everyone is wearing red and white is sus as fuck

square@lemmy.zip · 10 pts · 1d (2 replies)

I've been places where white=trad and red could be sharps or redskins.

This shit is so inconsistent you can never assume. I moved across the country once and after going to a few bars/cafes I thought I found my people, oh boy was I wrong.

You need to look at tattoos, shirts, or overt music to make a judgement on first impression.

I would think at a nazi skin party at least some people would be wearing their favorite wp T-shirts, the lack of this or any visible sus tats would suggest these are probably cool people. But if you stumbled upon it, and you didn't know the local customs, you couldn't be sure until you heard a bit of conversation.

BarrelAgedBoredom@lemmy.zip · 4 pts · 1d (1 reply)

Fair enough!. I can only speak for parts of the midwest (from family stories) and the north florida scene. Red braces and laces are still very much a thing here among white supremacists. You don't see many nazi punks up here but they're still around. There isn't much of a skinhead scene generally in north florida anymore, and the color code is slowly falling into obscurity with the exception of red, what little else remains has been absorbed into the more general punk/diy scenes and is seldom seen

Jumi@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1d

Depending on when this video was taken the Lonsdale shirt could be a hint too. They distanced themselves from Nazis in the past years

electric_nan@lemmy.ml · 2 pts · 1d (1 reply)

Do Nazis dance to Jamaican ska?

BarrelAgedBoredom@lemmy.zip · 2 pts · 1d

I wouldn't know, I'm not a nazi. But given the sheer amount of cognitive dissonance and flat out stupidity needed to be a nazi, I wouldnnt be surprised if they did

TribblesBestFriend@startrek.website · 4 pts · 1d

Yes but some have Sport shirt associated with fachist skinhead. Also the white suspenders are suspicious as fuck.

However the girl does effectively look ska

Anyway I could be mistaken

Photonic@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1d

I thought they were skin heads too (which they are) but didn’t know about the ska and the sharps either

square@lemmy.zip · 18 pts · 1d (1 reply)

The color codes are very inconsistent from region to region, and evolve over time.

Without overt tattoos, T-shirt slogans, or music, I would assume a combination of Sharps, trads, reds, etc., none of which would tolerate racist skins.

TribblesBestFriend@startrek.website · 5 pts · 1d

Yes with other comments it’s becoming my thought too
