So as I'm opening the door, I hit play, walk through the door.

"What was that?"
"Oh, that was just the studio audience reacting to the arrival of the main character in your story."

Ya ordinary people have been broke since before covid, but that's their problem. But when the stock market tanks, it's everyone's problem and we are all in this together.
AI companies don't buy government bonds, but some AI companies sell their own bonds. Google and Oracle for example and I believe SoftFail is also looking to sell bonds so they can refinance a loan they used to get a stake in ClosedAI.
Google's most egregious bond is one that matures in 2126. You'll only be paid interest until a century from now when you'll get the principal back. A ridiculous investment if you ask me, but they say it's fine because thanks to AI they'll earn a gazillion dollars by then and surely won't go bankrupt.
It should also be mentioned that a large proportion of bonds aren't government bonds at all, companies selling bonds isn't anything new, there's basically two ways for a company to raise funds: Sell bonds or sell equity. Bonds are preferable if you know you can pay them back easily because nobody gives up any shares.
I find that the default gui editor that comes with each desktop is good enough in most cases (xed with cinnamon, mouse with xfce, kate with kde, etc). But if you're looking for a terminal editor, a lot of people are praising micro as very user-friendly with solid functionality.
I opened Micro out of curiosity as it's installed on Garuda Mokka by default. ROFL It's just an unseasoned barebones window, but some people like that kind of note taking. I would prefer Kate over Micro. If I had to choose (Kate is better for configurations or Python scripts that you don't need to debug yet).
I guess it doesn't seem like it to me on the surface, as there must be a config file that needs to be edited to get those enabled because I couldn't find evidence of that on my basic inspection. So I decided to try out Obsidian, as I have been using Standard Notes, Filen and other such things for my notes. I might give it a go again at some point...

It's a terminal text editor, which some people prefer in general, but it can also be used without a graphical environment - like when SSHing into a server or recovering your system if the graphical environment breaks. Or if you're editing critical system configs with sudo and want to do it from tty with a simple editor to minimize points of failure.
Yeah, I did mention that some people prefer a more barebones experience...But, I also recognize that it doesn't fit my own use case. Based on what you said, Micro has a solid use for situations where there isn't a graphical environment or need to minimize complication when working with critical system configs. There are levels of minimalism that I can't truck with, so I will let people enjoy Micro without serious critique. Just casually poking fun at the idea...
Obsidian, featured in the meme, is on Linux, and for a while now free of charge (but with paid official plugins for syncing and web publishing), and I'd say is pretty good.
I honestly just take notes in sublime text myself, which is paid, but I'm paying for it anyways and often have it open in the background. It can store unsaved tabs in some session file, so I can just put unimportant notes in a tab and have them available to open later.
I also want to mention nextcloud notes, I don't use it for much so I don't know how good it is, but I have a nextcloud instance and use the notes for simple notes I want to be able to access from my phone.
I prefer Standard Notes, can be used for free and offline, full on backups. I have transferred the same set of notes from countless machines. Sadly it is pretty locked down in terms of features, they really want to get that cash out of a user. It's still pretty useful and has access to basic features. Which are enough for me...

Just use dependencies if you don't want to bother with writing a parser library! You don't need to ask AI every time for an XML parser every time you need to touch XML! You are working on a program, say a store front end, and you are having issues and you don't know why. You get someone else, they don't even have to be a programmer but it helps, and then you explain briefly and clearly, step by step what you are trying to do, and most of the time the issue will become clear and if not the other person can point out something you are missing because you are too close to the code and you also know what you want to put into it, but that doesn't mean you put it in, and you just think you did.
The name comes from a guy who used to carry around a large rubber duck for when he couldn't get people to explain it to, and he would explain it to the duck. Allot of programmers use dolls and teddy bears instead of ducks. Back when I was programming I did it to the game box of H2G2TG. I didn't learn what it was called until 6 years later from a fellow programmer in collage (IIRC) but it was the same thing.

Actually no. It can be that but the idea is that you should talk to someone who isn't involved with what you are doing and one of two things happen, you have a lightbulb moment like you are talking about which you can be talking with the wall at that point, or the person you are talking to is supposed to see the blatantly obvious thing you are missing and then they tell you about it. It is called Rubber Ducking because one of the guys carried around a rubber duck when developing stuff and he couldn't easily get another person to stand there and listen to him whinge on about what he was doing. It is still better to have a thinking person there but you can't always have what you want.
This is the one to use if you wanna play IRL. Instead of playing entire games you play single hands, its kind of like flash cards, to help you memorize the statistically correct play for any given hand.

Current "AI" is actually shitty tho'.
Any frozen weight models are architecturally unable to lean anything new, while dynamic weight models require entire datacenters to run for every instance. The scale of low-effort slop has crippled the internet as a knowledge source, and we are currently poisoning entire towns and the earth at large making up problems to solve.
Look at Nvidia, look at Huggingface. Huggingface literally offers their AI detection right next to their AI obfuscation. Meanwhile Anthropic is constantly hyping bullshit. I just read the "J-Space" article, and holy crap, LLMs use hidden layers to encode and infer relarionships, wow. I thought this was the whole idea behind machine learning, but I guess, saying that won't secure another billion dollars.
The entire space is full of people without any idea what they are looking at, and with LLMs taking up all the space and money, actually good ideas, like probabalistic proteine folding, are tossed to the side.
The only kinda good thing I see is Markdown making a comeback. And that's just "good", because I like Markdown.

You're actually alluding to another good point here. Humans are naturally equipped with perhaps one of the most complex computers we know; free for life! Yet a bunch group of people are now increasingly unable to use it. Thanks to relying on LLMs, even for the most basic of tasks.

Just stop... Go learn so you can have discussion with decision makers and researchers then you can effect change. This place is bad for you. These are NPC's that will reinforce stupidity evidently it is not an AI problem.

Just use dependencies if you don't want to bother with writing a parser library! You don't need to ask AI every time for an XML parser every time you need to touch XML! (Personally I try my best to not touch it outside of text formatting needs, where XML actually excels at, it's poopy at data storage you otherwise could use INI, TOML, JSON, or whatever other languages.)

Yeah Rubber Ducking, OKA Rubber Duck Debugging. You are working on a program, say a store front end, and you are having issues and you don't know why. You get someone else, they don't even have to be a programmer but it helps, and then you explain briefly and clearly, step by step what you are trying to do, and most of the time the issue will become clear and if not the other person can point out something you are missing because you are too close to the code and you also know what you want to put into it, but that doesn't mean you put it in, and you just think you did.
The name comes from a guy who used to carry around a large rubber duck for when he couldn't get people to explain it to, and he would explain it to the duck. Allot of programmers use dolls and teddy bears instead of ducks. Back when I was programming I did it to the game box of H2G2TG. I didn't learn what it was called until 6 years later from a fellow programmer in collage (IIRC) but it was the same thing.

It's about talking to something (anything, but a rubber duck is common) outloud just to voice your questions and talk through things.
Effectively, you're just conversing with yourself.

Actually no. It can be that but the idea is that you should talk to someone who isn't involved with what you are doing and one of two things happen, you have a lightbulb moment like you are talking about which you can be talking with the wall at that point, or the person you are talking to is supposed to see the blatantly obvious thing you are missing and then they tell you about it. It is called Rubber Ducking because one of the guys carried around a rubber duck when developing stuff and he couldn't easily get another person to stand there and listen to him whinge on about what he was doing. It is still better to have a thinking person there but you can't always have what you want.

This is the one to use if you wanna play IRL. Instead of playing entire games you play single hands, its kind of like flash cards, to help you memorize the statistically correct play for any given hand.
