I really hope some one catches the moment this dumb couchfucker realizes Trump is going to run for a third term.

MAGA is classic Cult of Personality, and there is no #2. They're all Narcissists, so they all fancy themselves the heir apparent, but the followers will make the ultimate decision, and the moment Trump dies, so does most MAGA support. They love TRUMP, not just some political kiss-ass, or some offspring with the Trump name. Don Jr, or any of them, will be as popular as Frank Sinatra, Jr.

When Trump croaks, the knives will come out, and the backstabbing will begin.

Frankly, the more likely outcome of the MAGA crash will be that the Trump family will pivot to religion, and deify Trump, which is why they all have to go to jail, before embarking on their next family grift.

MAGA is classic Cult of Personality, and there is no #2.

They’re not friendly enough for the Sith Rule of 2, so they go with a Rule of 1.

Bahnd@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 2d

WHO DOES #2 WORK FOR!!!

Thats right, show that turd whos boss.

Tilgare@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 2d (4 replies)

People say this like they said that Trump had no chance in 2016. It seems right, but we get repeatedly proven wrong. Honestly it sounds like one of those malicious lies meant to make us complacent. Not you, but the originator (whoever they might have been).

AA5B@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 2d (3 replies)

It still doesn’t make sense that Trump won. By all logic it should not have been close. However the best explanation is he successfully played outrage media to convince gullible, low information and racists that he was what he wanted, and somehow turned it into a personality cult. The bombast and bs was strong with that one

But Vance’s main qualification is lack of shame. That doesn’t turn into a personality cult. Neither does submissive loyalty to the cult leader. Neither has there been any public sign of him rising in the cult

a_non_monotonic_function@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 1d

It makes a lot of sense. He was wildly racist. All the damn time. When things looked rough he started screaming about immigrants eating dogs and cats. Then you've also got the misogyny and transphobia.

He got, what, around 22% of the population voting for him to elect him? Approximately 1/5 of the population being impressed by wildly racist antics makes complete sense.

There's plenty of people still alive out there who are old enough to throw rocks at black kids trying to enter schools or scream at others for sitting down and soda fountains.

Einskjaldi@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2d

He got primary easily, and the general because it's only a two party system and when the economy and things are bad the incumbent gets voted out.

Tilgare@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2d

I sure hope you're right! The always-votes-right crowd will just vote for whoever they're told to, including Vance, so I definitely hope that any right-leaners who have broken away and are sick of Trump now don't fall for it all over again with Vance.

Even without him commanding a cult of personality, the right still has a fire hose of propaganda blasting to hell and back... And I don't foresee that changing. I think the propaganda is a way bigger factor here and I'm still not sure if enough of the populace is paying enough attention to sort fact from fiction.

CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2d

This guy did a bit on the notion of what happens when their cult leader is gone....

Its a mild improvement to the child rapist

bedwyr@piefed.ca · 4 pts · 2d

Is it? Half as mean and twice as smart and it would be worse.

Vance won't get it anyway though.

ArgumentativeMonotheist@lemmy.world · -1 pts · 2d (1 reply)

Yeah but morals are decorative for the American psyche: it's better to be a funny, charismatic level 100 monster than a boring and weird level 90 one. 🤷‍♂️

CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2d

Vance is maybe even worse than donnie as far as his affiliations.

I mean, donnie may be a pedo, but the Nerd Reich is deeply fucked up and they have plans, man. Peter Thiel and Curtis Yarvin are freaks who should have no business other than something to be pointed and laughed at when they start up with their armchair "theories" about how the world should work, but unfortunately Thiel has ridiculous amounts of money and has his fingers in everything.

Fr, people in this thread think the worst thing about this grinning sociopath is that he's kind of awkward in public

Yeah. If I think of something better I’ll come back and post it.

TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world · 29 pts · 2d (5 replies)

No one gives a fuck about this guy.

Peter theil could put their entire net worth behind him and he wouldn't budge an inch.

You'll own nothing and Enjoy it, jd.

Candace owens and Tucker Carlson own maga now the vitriolic mass which is maga isn't actually beholden, and if you want to know where things are going, you watch the first movers. All of the people who still have an audience moved on from towards a more general white nationalist agenda months ago. Even the Nazis see sticking with trump as a disaster

Its not clear it was ever jds to inherent.

Lasherz12@lemmy.world · 16 pts · 2d (1 reply)

It was pretty clear JD overstayed his welcome before they took office. Arguably before the campaign was over. The donut shop video was a classic.

https://youtu.be/pDvkt2VkArg

I feel like Tucker is going to be active as a politician and it's going to destroy the country if we don't see a federal Mamdani-tier populist before it happens. Tucker's extremely effective at achieving rhetorical goals while also being an absolute Nazi shitstain and above all liar, who has never showed his true face to a camera.

bedwyr@piefed.ca · 2 pts · 2d

Tucker won't get it because he's anti israel. Now anyway, obviously he's cynical, and could embrace israel, but given everything that's happened I am not so sure the power brokers wouldn't still step on his bid. Maybe he could take it anyway idk, but without moderating his israel stance, they would kill him if he was going to win, you better believe it, that is where we are at.

The one to watch, is RFK, only his speech impediment gives me pause in thinking he will get it.

Zombiepirate@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 2d

I also have to wonder if James Donald Bowman here remembers that Trump sent a violent crowd to hang his last VP. It's a disposable job for scapegoats.

stickyprimer@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 2d (1 reply)

I think he’s as dangerous as any Republican candidate can be. He’s young, he’s got name recognition and has been practicing his angry MAGA act to the point of credibility for some time. Most importantly, he is learning at the master’s knee how to control the instrument that is the MAGA voting block and won’t fail to apply those lessons in spades when it’s time for him to run. I am dubious about whether Trump voters will turn out for him, but I can’t imagine anyone better positioned to make a run for them than him. Remember in Trump’s first term how we all said “oh shit, now that’s he’s shown our government to be more norms than law, what happens if someone actually smart comes along to exploit that?” JV Dunce could be that person.

TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2d

Dangerous to republicans maybe. Just like Hillary as a forgone conclusion was dangerous to Democrats in 2016, and Biden was dangerous to Democrats in 2024.

DudleyMason@lemmy.ml · 21 pts · 2d (6 replies)

Lol, his wife and kids are brown, the Nazis will never follow him.

I really thought that was where this season of the Republican political soap opera was going.

Corvidae@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 2d (2 replies)

Vance praised Trump as “the toughest SOB in American politics”, and paused repeatedly as the crowd lavished him with cheers and applause.

I don't want the meanest SOB as president. I'm just one person though. Should meanest rise to the top of hierarchy? Or is it a flaw in our systems when that happens? What about diplomacy? Things to think about before you vote.

AA5B@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2d

But this is the closest thing to make sense. He doesn’t say meanest, but toughest. There are a lot of desperate people falling out of the modern world, seeing no way out.

Most of us would look to stop the class war, increase jobs and education, strengthen safety nets, etc

They correctly see these things as unwieldy so think a “tough guy” is the only chance. That makes some sense. Somehow he made them believe he was a tough guy rather than just a grifter. Somehow he made them believe he would act in other than personal self-interest. Most importantly he was able to stoke their outrage and identify subgroups to hate, while somehow getting them to ignore reality, history, facts

CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2d

There are a lot of broken people out there. Read The Authoritarians. My guess is that a not insignificant portion of the republicons - including the voters - count as RWA. And then there are other character traits like the dark triad and so on.

Lot of cons seem to cheer the idea of hurting other people. They seem to prioritize this even over their very real needs. For instance, they fret and froth and gnash their teeth and rend their garments over "men in women's sports". They used to also spend a lot of time worried about men marrying men, too (still do, really, but hating on trans has taken center stage. For the moment).

Having men play in women's sports will affect them not in the slightest bit. Not in the least. It's the on the margins of the margins. But they'd rather see trans people hurt over almost anything else.

Same thing with having the FCC cancel TV shows on corporate media. Or mass deportation. They'd rather see liberals upset more than almost anything else in their lives.

Hey Ya’ll, remember me? “Fuck immigrants” … “I mean, not my wife of course, but hey ya’ll…” let’s talk about those “immigrants”…

He doesn't have the grandiose narcissism necessary to inherent the throne.

CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2d

I'm deeply concerned about the plans of the Nerd Reich.

But I'm not sure if "JD" "Vance" is going to be the guy that can convince millions of dumbfuck magachuds to punch themselves in the nuts over and over so they get to "own the libs" while Thiel and Andreesen and Musk and other total freaks get to build "Freedom Cities" so they can own people.

chemical_cutthroat@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2d (3 replies)

His wife does, though, and she's the one we need to keep an eye on.

TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 2d

Eyes on karp and theil. JD vances are disposable. Remember that.

psyc@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2d (1 reply)

Are you referencing something specific? I haven’t heard much about her Unless you were secretly referencing Thiel haha

chemical_cutthroat@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 2d

It's been talked about for a while that Vance wouldn't be where he is without her. He was firmly anti-Trump, but she convinced him to change his message, and then used her connections to put him in front of the right people so that he got tapped for the VP role after Pence. She is the ambitious one, and the one without shame. Vance is her puppet.

Even more reason not to vote Republican.

skozzii@lemmy.ca · 2 pts · 1d

Trump is a one off, for some reason people are mesmerised by him and don't seem to care about his constant lies, they just go along with it. There is not a single other person that is capable of filling that role, so as soon as he is gone the heads will start rolling.

Nobody will protect them from their crimes any longer.

Republicans have this whole language of euphemisms to not say directly the things they mean. They know it, and it's no wonder that they don't take anything anyone says at face value: they know they're hiding their real message, so everyone must also hide their real message.
