This would be the guy you enthusiastically helped get back into power Joe.

UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world · 121 pts · 223d (11 replies)

Joe is the empty vessel through which corporate opinion flows, uninhibited.

He'll say whatever you want, whenever you want, to whomever you want if you just cover his fees.

He's the white man's Oprah.

TheLowestStone@lemmy.world · 57 pts · 223d (1 reply)

He’s the white man’s Oprah.

Ugh... You're right and I hate it.

Frozengyro@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 223d

He's right and it's hilarious

MushuChupacabra@piefed.world · 11 pts · 223d (4 replies)

Alternately, he doesn't like the fact that he has blood on his hands.

SocialMediaRefugee@lemmy.world · 37 pts · 223d

If he admitted he was wrong to back him I'd support it. He could provide an emotional out for MAGA types who may be regretting their choice now. "If Joe Rogan is regretting it..."

Eldritch@piefed.world · 16 pts · 223d

He's always had blood on his hands. He was pro trump the first time.

hector@lemmy.today · 4 pts · 223d

Well considering what we know about his wonderful secrets with his enigma pals, blood isn't the only bodily fluid on his hands. And it's not sweat either the guy doesn't do real work.

SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca · 1 pts · 223d

Yeah but it's pretty hilarious when the leopard eats his face, like when he shat himself and ran into his walk-in medicine cabinet when he caught COVID.

SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca · 6 pts · 223d

"you get an opnion...and YOU get an opinion... and you..."

hector@lemmy.today · 1 pts · 223d (2 replies)

To say corporate opinion flows uninhibited ignores the million of dollars used to make it flow. Ignores the pump of millions of dollars moving corporate talking points from the assholes of the rich to Joe's mouth.

UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 223d (1 reply)

A million bucks in a trillion dollar economy is a drop in the budget. Joe Rogan is a cheap date at the scale of international media.

hector@lemmy.today · 2 pts · 223d

The thing is though, it's only market capitalizations at those obscene levels. There are few companies worth a trillion dollars intrinsically, probably none, idk maybe exxon or apple could count. But all the tech companies, tesla, nvidia,, are all so overpriced it beggars reason.

Everyone knows they aren't worth that much but they know they can trade at those amounts, it's divorced from fundamentals. Tesla is giving musk many times more in value in that 60 billion pay package than the company is intrinsically worth, maybe 10 billion dollars, maybe. Probably less given their flagship truck was a piece of shit in like 10 ways and he alienated half the west with his nazi bullshit. And nazis don't want electric cars, they've always been partial to gas...

Anyway sorry long tangent to say millions of dollars is still quite significant if they are realizing it in actual capital. If paying in overpriced stock it's a drop in the bucket.

Ghostalmedia@lemmy.world · 54 pts · 223d (5 replies)

Fuck this dude and all, but I’m not going to look a gift horse the mouth. If he’s even partially waking up to reality, and influencing his audience about Trump’s shitty actions, I’ll take it.

Dictators are successful when they have populist energy fueling them, and I’ll take help from anyone that makes this guy less popular.

some_designer_dude@lemmy.world · 25 pts · 223d

I agree, but still want Joe to hang.

UnspecificGravity@piefed.social · 22 pts · 223d (1 reply)

He's not. He is just trying to claw back some listeners so that he is still relevant to endorse the next fascist that comes along.

notwhoyouthink@lemmy.zip · 7 pts · 222d

Exactly. He’s a glorified influencer, his opinions reside with his profits.

MushuChupacabra@piefed.world · 10 pts · 223d (1 reply)

Joe needs to do far more heavy lifting. Passively raising concerns is cute, but doesn't come close to the damage done by his Active effort to get Trump re-elected.

When his rhetoric becomes decisively anti-Republican, I'll consider giving him a cookie.

Tollana1234567@lemmy.today · 1 pts · 222d

his current fans are mostly mma-conservative people, so unlikely. the old ones criticizes him.

HazardousBanjo@lemmy.world · 112 pts · 223d (8 replies)

Until this asshole says the fucking words:

"Trump is covering up the Epstein Files"

Then he's not criticizing Trump.

This is what Joe Rogan and every hack psuedo-comedian podcaster piece of shit has been doing. They intentionally refuse to explicitly name drop Trump and blame him directly for literally everything he does.

It gives these assholes plausible deniability to the dipshit MAGA crowd to say "I wasn't criticizing dear leader! I was criticizing X cabinet member or person he appointed! Its there fault! Trump is still our infallible god!"

Zombiepirate@lemmy.world · 54 pts · 223d (1 reply)

Absolutely 100% right.

The media was reporting that he thought ICE was being gestapo-like, and he didn't say that at all.

The way it was reported was legitimate journalistic negligence; this guy is a full-on reactionary.

hector@lemmy.today · 10 pts · 223d

This guy was just smoking cigars with some douchebag and accusing all environmental protesters of being foreign agents and tools and traitors or some stupid shit like that.

Seriously fuck this guy, I tried to like him a little, to appreciate him leading his flock to better places on a few issues, but his defense of say, the president's bad faith lawsuits against the media, or attack on environmental protesters, show he's just a cynical tool. He knows better, and those environmental protesters he would be agreeing with in other circumstances as it benefited him.

Joe Rogan and other male cheerleaders like Piers Morgan additionally have fault in why people believe Elon Musk is a genius.

HazardousBanjo@lemmy.world · 15 pts · 223d (1 reply)

I'm still convinced Elon Musk and other billionaires are sneaking him money under the table to be their not so covert PR guy.

hector@lemmy.today · 10 pts · 223d

That's probably not much of a secret. Rogan is getting paid by a lot of people for sure. Guy is a tool willing to help the worst people in the world.

Go to bed with snakes, before long you will get bit on the dick though.

teawrecks@sopuli.xyz · 5 pts · 222d (2 replies)

"Some of his advisors have some really bad ideas..."

It seems poor trump is just completely helpless in the face of these bad ideas.

Schrödinger's leadership role:

When McDonalds begun increasing prices for corporate and shareholder greed, it was Obama or Hillary or Biden's fault.

When people Trump personally appointed, Trump personally talks to, and Trump acts based on the advisement of, do something catastrophic, Trump is just a victim of evil people who are tricking him. Also he's never done anything wrong ever.

CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 222d

I remember during Biden's term I'd hear/read the dim bulbs claiming "Biden's policies" were making everything unaffordable, etc.

I'd ask them specifically which policies, exactly. By name. I'd ask them to give me the name of the bills he signed into law, the EOs that he signed, etc that supposedly led to this alleged state of things costing more.

Crickets. Every fucking time.

It's just all vibes with the conservatives.

atzanteol@sh.itjust.works · 53 pts · 223d (2 replies)

It's a little bit like claiming Hitler invaded Poland to distract from his bad policies... But if Epstein is the thing that allows his followers to say "that's a bridge too far" then so be it.

boonhet@sopuli.xyz · 5 pts · 223d (1 reply)

It’s a little bit like claiming Hitler invaded Poland to distract from his bad policies…

War is a thing autocrats use to stay in power though. Both inner and outer war. Inner war for Hitler was the Jews, outer war was the rest of Europe. Inner war for Trump is immigrants, outer war is... We'll know when he starts a proper one I suppose.

His podcast was already big before it was on Spotify, wasn't it? I haven't listened in half a decade, but I remember being sort of mad that he went to Spotify and removed the feed from where I was listening.

aramis87@fedia.io · 14 pts · 223d

The over $200,000,000 that Spotify paid Rogan came from somewhere, and I'm sure cutting employees (and their salaries) was part of it.

UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 223d (2 replies)

His podcast was already big before it was on Spotify, wasn’t it?

He rode a tidal wave of corporate sponsorship and political back scratching to land that Spotify deal. Rogan subsists on an enormous reservoir of unearned media coverage. He repays his corporate bosses by floating the turds FOX and Disney won't touch.

SculptusPoe@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 223d (1 reply)

I just ran a list of all the politial comentary guests to check their standing, and it seems pretty even between right, left and libertarian left, leaning towards libertarian. I haven't listened to him lately, but I never got the impression that he was much of a right winger from anything he has ever said on there while I was listening. Of course, I'm not interested in political interviews, so I would have avoided shows with purely political interviews... Everything he does seems to lean far left. He is a meathead and easily influenced by fad diets. But he also seems to like everyone and not sort by politics. That's just the impression I get.

UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 222d

I haven’t listened to him lately, but I never got the impression that he was much of a right winger from anything he has ever said on there while I was listening.

You can only invite Elon Musk, Dave Smith, and JBP onto your show so many times before you tip your hand.

Hell, Tulsi Gabbard gets an invite every time she launches a new campaign.

Tollana1234567@lemmy.today · 0 pts · 222d (1 reply)

he wanted more money, right wingers were untapped market for him, so he started grifting, of course with MR putin whispering in his ear.

SculptusPoe@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 222d

I never heard anything about Joe having contact of any kind with putin... I just looked it up and there is no indication anywhere that he has ever had contact with putin. He did say some stuff that made Ukraine a bit mad, but it was mostly focused on keeping the US out of forign wars. That might have been short sighted in the case of the Ukrane war, but has nothing to do with russian influence...

Joe Rogan can asphyxiate himself on his own farts since he loves the smell of his own brand so much. Rogan helped put Trump in power, and was happy to do so because he was making money off the MAGA grift. Unless he comes out and denounces Trump, admits he was wrong, and apologizes, it's all fucking posturing to keep the grift flowing.

hector@lemmy.today · 6 pts · 223d

He also denounced all environmental protesters as traitors and foreign agents and idk what, bad. Pretended the president's lawsuits against the media were in good faith when he had Bernie on last year too. He's a cynical piece of shit. Reddit violated me for saying that, saying I was threatening violence just calling rogan cynical. Triggering conservatives is the real violatable offense it appears I notice a pattern.
