I'm lucky that I live in Seattle, Washington. My government will do its damnedest to fight back and protect us. If there is a civil war, my local government is on my side. That helps. It also helps that we'd have Oregon with us. California, maybe, but there's a lot of red between Eugene, OR, and San Francisco, and their state and local governments are more entrenched in the federal status quo (looking at Newsom).
We are also very active as far as activism and mutual aid go in this region. And our gun ranges can get crowded.

Socialism enables authoritarism (Trump would love it) and is generally a flawed system. I'm from a socialist country. Well, it used to be. Balanced capitalism is way better than a socialist state - trust me. Just look at developed EU countries and Scandinavia. It's a good mix between socialism and capitalism, not pure system of one or another. Pure socialism or communism has never worked and will never work, this is something people with lack of knowledge and experience thinks. Humans just don't work like that. Studies have shown that it can work up to few hundred people, meaning small communities, but not countries.

Why does it seem like everyone forgot that he already tried to rig the elections on Jan 6? Democracy officially died on January 20, 2025, and we were screaming from the rooftops that it was going to die if Trump were reelected. But Trump is just a symptom of a larger issue.
The real rot in our system has been here since the founding of the country. The founding fathers chose capitalism as the form of economics, and what they didn't realize (or maybe did) was that they were just replacing one king with another. They explicitly allowed people who seek power to continue to be allowed to have power over others. Regardless of how much it is or isn't regulated, it will always lead back to the same road. Call it monarchy, oligarchy, fascism, dictatorship, authoritarianism, or whatever else you want, but this is the road that we travel down whenever we allow rulers in society.
The only way to fix this forever is to not allow rulers in society. Anything short of that will lead us right back here.

Except, what everyone seems to be ignoring is that those buildings literally aren't filled with the evil dudes most of the time. I was born in DC. Those buildings are almost entirely empty, and there are always multiple orders of magnitude more tourists in and around them than there are potentates. Most of the most powerful people in the country don't even live in DC most of the time, because they're rich enough to just fly in whenever they need to, or drive in from nearby states, where they have massive mansions. I've given my perspective in a different reply which you are welcome to read, but torching DC is an inane idea, tantamount to screaming and breaking a plate so you can feel like you're helping the situation.

As I said to a different response: when demolishing buildings, we use high explosives, not gasoline. I was born in DC. The buildings didn't do anything wrong, nor did the people who live near those buildings. Very few of the traitors to the nation even live in the capital most of the time. Burning a city to the ground is never an acceptable solution to any problem; It wasnt appropriate in WWII for Dresden, London, or Hiroshima, it wasn't in the war of 1812 for D.C., and it isn't now. Large-scale retaliation will only cause collateral damage and put up a smokescreen. It would be nothing more than senseless violence amounting to stomping your feet on the ground. Any action which has a hope of success in bringing justice must be done in an orderly and methodical manner, I don't go in for all the modern second amendment crap, and am a conscientious objector, because the one part of that amendment which is most important is this: a well-regulated militia is necessary to protect the rights of the people. The declaration of independence makes it clear that we have a right and a duty to throw off this government, which is openly seeking to reduce us under absolute despotism, but that doesn't mean just burning some uninhabited buildings with god knows how much collateral damage is a good plan. It would be nothing but theatre with an extreme innocent death toll.

For people like me, we'll be relying on our local governments and neighbors.
I'm lucky that I live in Seattle, Washington. My government will do its damnedest to fight back and protect us. If there is a civil war, my local government is on my side. That helps. It also helps that we'd have Oregon with us. California, maybe, but there's a lot of red between Eugene, OR, and San Francisco, and their state and local governments are more entrenched in the federal status quo (looking at Newsom).
We are also very active as far as activism and mutual aid go in this region. And our gun ranges can get crowded.

Honestly I think there is a non-zero chance of this happening as well. We live in an apartment and neither of us have ever been "prepper" types so we don't have a huge hoard or anything, but I have dedicated a cabinet in our kitchen to this situation.
I told my husband that I don't think it's unlikely that at some point we're going to have to go without utilities for a couple weeks, so we needed to have stuff on-hand. After a few weeks, I feel like all bets would be off anyway and society would basically become feral so it doesn't make sense to have a huge hoard that you can't haul around easily. Unless you live in a house with Purge-Night style defenses, then I guess it makes sense.

That is actually something you can legally fight back on. By federal law voter intimidation is a "clear and present danger". Stopping someone from going to the polls is a very literal "fuck around and find out". Calling the police on ICE for doing it will just be an optional courtesy.

Honestly, I fully expect people to continue to invest their time and effort into ineffective hope and action.
Epstein files? Dud, their base was never going to care.
People resigning? By all means, tell them what positions were problematic and leave them open to replace with loyalists. In this regard, at least people have begun circulating CIA guides for people trying to subvert regimes, so at least it has not continued to the same degree as when Trump's second term began.
Midterms? Turns out the January 6th guy is going to try to compromise them (never mind that he has persistently ignored congress and gone over them, that right now it is the weakest branch of government). I can't even comprehend how people are falling on the impeachment line and sinker he's laying out for them to bite on when he has fully compromised the federal agencies that would be in charge of such an investigation, never mind that he has already been impeached and it lead to nothing. Meanwhile, they continue to take no effective action, because permitting illegal unconstitutional acts peacefully is somehow better than allowing them to commit the same acts but with somewhat less bullshit excuses even when it doesn't matter how bullshit the excuses has been so far.
Protests? Not really that effective when you hold them in like-minded societies. They would need to start happening in the red states where people are living within their bubbles to pop them out of them, but you wouldn't have oligarchs financing the fleets of buses and logistics necessary to begin moving them never mind that the reception would not be even the same as the sort of reception they've been exploiting for their MAGA crowds. Protests against abusers just tend to egg them on when not only do they pose no actual resistance, but they can get away with literal murder.
If Europe had gone up against the USSR, they'd be a lot more cooked than Europe and Ukraine working to stop Russia's advance. Stop being a schizo-nation that holds "indivisibility" above all else, US, because you no longer hold the same values throughout your territory. Maybe next time don't ignore the canary of the FCC's Fairness Doctrine as it is butchered to death.
Don't get me wrong, I have little hope for opposition, if any. I can count the governors taking the threat seriously and for what it is with a single hand, never mind that they are essentially acting independently and with questionable support from the state authorities they should supposedly have authority over.

We have never held the same values through the territories. The Constitution is a series of compromises to keep the farmland and urban centers sort of happy. Stark moral differences have been in our blood since day 1; the expansion of slave states (ignoring the native genocide for now) lead to the annexation of Texas and the American Civil War. Nobody is ever held accountable, slavers and secessionists and fascists are allowed to hold political power because the entire house of cards that is the United States is and has always been barely held together through a shared willful ignorance.

Socialism enables authoritarism (Trump would love it) and is generally a flawed system. I'm from a socialist country. Well, it used to be. Balanced capitalism is way better than a socialist state - trust me. Just look at developed EU countries and Scandinavia. It's a good mix between socialism and capitalism, not pure system of one or another. Pure socialism or communism has never worked and will never work, this is something people with lack of knowledge and experience thinks. Humans just don't work like that. Studies have shown that it can work up to few hundred people, meaning small communities, but not countries.

It has always felt funny to me how people who lived in socialism prefers capitalism and people who lived in late-stage-capitalism prefers socialism. The doomed cycle, history sure loves irony.
The only thing I can recommend to you is don't take example of capitalism from USA. It is not a balanced system. It's broken and has been broken for quite some time

I don't know if Russians and Russian news is a good source of capitalism propaganda. I learned English only relatively recently, but used to consume their content for most of my life.

It's mostly unrelated. People themselves want to work or accomplish something in life, unrelated to the government or system. If they don't, they won't no matter the system.
You could literally ask this question about passive income or unemployment money under capitalism.

None of them was a red line eventually. All of them should have been.
If he rigs the election, you will hear people scream and rage, and demand courts to fix it (they're toothless), and demand congress to fix it (~half is complicit, ~half is spineless). But no one will take arms. No one did it for all the other red lines.
