What did you say?

GreenShimada@lemmy.world · 11 pts · 126d

In the last 18 hours, but mostly repeats of every single day of my life:

Everybody has AIDS - Team America

The last half of the Three's Company theme song

Three Small Words - Josie and the Pussycats

SOB - Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats

ABBA - Gimme Gimme Gimme

Edit: Anytime anything good happens, or I pass a car, the little diddy after you hit a goal in Super Mario World.

  • Blind Melon - Tones of Home
  • Soundgarden - Blow Up the Outside World
  • Shivaree - Goodnight Moon
  • White Stripes - Seven Nation Army
  • Pet Shop Boys - It's a Sin
  • George Michael - Careless Whisper
  • Q Lazzarus - Goodbye Horses

There are certainly more, but owing to the fact I have to actively work to evict them, I hesitate to put more thought to it.

TrickDacy@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 126d (2 replies)

"Tones of home" has been in my head so many times. And the past few days, "Jesus Christ pose" by Soundgarden. I haven't heard of some of those other artists so I'll have to check them out.

CarrierLost@infosec.pub · 2 pts · 126d (1 reply)

Dude “Tones of home” is excellent. I love that one and “Galaxie” by them.

TrickDacy@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 126d

Hell yeah! I actually think the Classic Masters album is one of the best greatest hits records ever. Every freaking track on it is a banger. Galaxie I think is track #2 after tones of home, if memory serves.

JusticeForPorygon@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 1 pts · 126d (1 reply)

Is it like a rolling playlist or do they all play all at once

Even 23 years later...

I'm goin', yes I'm goin' (I'm a-goin' to the) Goin' to the (hard!) We're goin' (really goin' to the) Goin' to the, goin' to the (hard!) Yes I'm goin' to the HARDWARE STORE...

neidu3@sh.itjust.works · 4 pts · 125d (1 reply)

Back in the day I memorized the lyrics and tried to sing along to the hardware story inventory selection part. Since no human have lungs big enough, a friend and I learned to alternate back and forth so we could cover the entire thing.

whelk@retrolemmy.com · 3 pts · 125d

... matching salt and pepper shakers!

Nemo@slrpnk.net · 6 pts · 126d

None, they all pay their way.

Because, tangent time, you're using the phrase "rent free in your head" wrong. All of you! It's not just for ideas or memes or songs that stay with you, it's for ones that you're stuck with that don't benefit you at all.

JusticeForPorygon@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 5 pts · 126d (1 reply)

I have ADHD, so pretty much every song l, lyric, and line of dialogue I've ever heard or read. And they're playing all at once all the time.

This is a catchy 16 bit(?) song. I can see how this could make a home in your brain.

Ryanmiller70@lemmy.zip · 4 pts · 126d (2 replies)

Recently it's been "It's Easy M'Kay" from the South Park movie. Been listening to the songs from that film a lot and for some reason that's the one my brain wants to keep playing over and over.

wolfeh@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 2 pts · 124d

...so just use the word "M'kay"!

MurrayL@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 126d

For me it’s Mountain Town, but yeah that soundtrack is incredibly catchy.

Also the Badger song.

Lou Reed - Perfect Day has been a big one for the past few years. Or if something randomly reminds me of any given song I know at all, it can be that one for days. Gets maddening sometimes!

Long term rent free.

I always have a song stuck in my head, often for days at a time (right now it’s Zorbing by Stornaway), but there are a handful that come back over and over for years.

The two that come to mind most often are Don’t Go Breaking My Heart by Elton John/Kiki Dee and, weirdly, Babaji by Supertramp.

Rivermoonwolf@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 124d

Did you mean: Which songs live rent free in your head?

Or were you looking for the top of the list because that's incredibly hard to judge. There are so many in here. So. Many.

Simple words and phrases, sometimes entirely unrelated but with similar rhythmic pattern can bring forth any number of songs.

I might be a little AuDHD. Just a smidge.

Open Car - Porcupine Tree

This band is so good. It blows my mind more people aren't singing their praises. Criminally underrated.
