What good is being president if you can’t instruct your justice department to investigate the woman you raped? Excuse me! I thought this was America!

Well corporate media outlets held a pretense to toe the line and try to keep social democratic movements from gaining popularity by pretending all is normal, all is well.

CNN is owned by a MAGA billionaire shithead and the use of the word "accuser" instead of "sexual assault survivor" is likely intentional.

Democrats don't do anything.
Republicans do evil things.
Yeah, one side is fucking worse.
Mulligrubs@lemmy.world · -12 pts · 68d
Sure. I've voted D for last two national elections.
But... they're still absolutely shit. Two different turds, one is less runny. Good job.
Over 70% of voters want universal healthcare, Ds can't be bothered. Our "labor party" can't even manage to keep our wages and benefits above those of POLAND. Un-fucking-believable, we've been surpassed by eastern europe.
Biden couldn't even manage ONE stand alone minimum wage bill. Didn't even bother. You should be ashamed to defend him, that was his platform. What he did there was an evil thing.
He didn't need 60 votes. They can use the "nuclear option" whenever they'd like, for example, passing judges just requires 50 votes. (which 8 Ds just crossed the aisle to vote for an individual who refuses to say that Biden won the 2020 election). Excellent work again, Ds.
Trent Lott the Republican came up with the "nuclear option" term, and bOtH pArTiEs adopted it immediately, because it scares the shit out of dummies. Before 2000s, that simple majority vote was known as the "constitutional option". They can do this whenever they'd like. They had minimum wage in the fucking bag for first two years. Are you blind?

https://oversight.house.gov/release/breaking-hhs-formally-debars-ecohealth-alliance-dr-peter-daszak-after-covid-select-reveals-pandemic-era-wrongdoing/
Absolutely no evidence to suggest that the virus (accidentally or otherwise) originated as a gain of function experiment in a lab.
Besides that, my main point is that the democratic administration downplayed the ongoing pandemic to protect moneyed interests, and not as a result of actual eradication of the virus.
TO CLARIFY: I do not support the current administration IN ANY WAY. Denying wrongdoing on the part of the democrats, however, is either wilfully ignorant or naive at best.

Mulligrubs@lemmy.world · -6 pts · 68d
I vote every election, and voted for Harris and Biden before that.
Ds are a minority now for a reason... less than a third of voters, just like Rs. It's because you're both absolute shit parties.
Over 70% of voters want universal healthcare and higher minimum federal wage for example.. voters have wanted this for years.
Independents are now 40%+ of voters. You require our votes to win any national election.
Please stop treating those who help you like garbage, and at least pretend to be a reasonable person. You're only fucking yourself and your own party over. Good job, professor.
p.s. Oh, and knowing my voting is against your wishes makes it all the sweeter, thanks! I would feel awful if someone like you agreed with me.

Elections are not the defining trait of democracies. Technically they are not even a requirement. This is why plenty of autocracies can actually have a ton of elections.
MiddleAgesModem@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 68d
Obviously, he meant free and fair elections, not show ones in dictatorships. Legitimate elections define democracy.
dustyData@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 68d
I agree, but again. Elections are not even technically required. There are democratic decision making structures that don't rely on election of representatives or voting. Specially on direct democracies, it's but one of the many ways to ensure the prevalence of democratic values.
jj4211@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 68d
Oh, we'll have elections.
They are just trying to decide how convincing they can get away with making it look like a free and fair election without letting it actually be free and fair.
Putin for example has decided that 88% support is "close enough" to a free and fair election.. for now.
KneeTitts@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 68d

Frankly, the continuing inaction to do nothing at all to even admonish the administration for openly corrupt behavior turning everything into a personal benefit for trump is depressing even if someone implemented 'other methods'.
As bad as Trump is, it's more worrying that no one is even vaguely willing to go along with ousting him. The handful of GOP that was even vaguely on the fence has been ousted at this point. Since the supreme court has ruled that openly politically aligned and outright racist districting is ok, and challenges about each state's districting are only ever valid if the challenge would strike down a democrat plan...

Everything else has been dismissed because this is the worst bunch of lawyers to ever lawyer.
2 years ago, career attorneys with decades of experience would drop everything to get a job in the justice department because it was so prestigious. Now they're having trouble recruiting kids straight out of law school graduating at the bottom of their class.
And federal judges are DONE with these clowns. It's not just a presumption of innocence for the defendant. The justices's default assumptions are increasingly that the justice department is actively lying.

Just because Trump is a shit doesn't mean Biden should be allowed to be. This is the problem with the democrats, they figure as long as they are a hair better than fascists they should be respected. Hunter is a peice of shit crackhead who made a career lobbying for foriegn interests based on his connection to his daddy. 2 in 10 Americans supported Bidens decision to unconditionally pardon his idiot of a son. The problem here is that the pardon exists at all. There should be checks and balances against it being abused.

Meanwhile, Pumpkinhead pardoned terrorists so that some of them could go on to commit more crimes - like molesting children.
Don't compare the two things; it's patently ridiculous. Biden only had to do this because he knows just what a vindictive asshole Pumpkinhead is and so very butthurt that he LOST to Biden.
