Fun more details about your fun fact: yes because Jewish rebels wanting to recreate an ancient Israeli state in that Roman area started a massive genocide of Romans and greeks during the Roman-Jewish wars and the Romans ended it, leveled the jewish temple in Jerusalem, and banished the jewish people from the region.
