And it won't matter as long as Israel receives money and support from the US.

And I doubt the US will ever stop.

Isreal is the best way to funnel billions of dollars back to American defense companies, of course it's not going to stop.

Tollana1234567@lemmy.today · 1 pts · 83d

hasnt that been going on for decades. other convoluted ways is defense tech pipeline from universities that help israel down the line(tech degrees, engineering etc). its to FUND specifically POLITICIANS, which they cant just skim like PUTIN does with RUSSIA. Hakeem, slotkin, SCHUMER, FETTERMAN are recieving end of these funds.

MrNesser@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 83d (1 reply)

The USA has literally funded terrorist groups aka "freedom fighters" such as the IRA, the Taliban, and the Contras around the world for decades. Supporting a nuclear powered rogue state is nothing new unfortunatly

OrteilGenou@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 83d

Well... none of those are nuclear powered rogue states, so maybe somewhat new

gandalf_der_12te@feddit.org · 2 pts · 83d

And I doubt the US will ever stop.

naah there's legitimate reason to believe that they will stop

for one, israel has mostly existed to pressure arab countries into giving the US oil. because no modern society functions without a lot of energy. now with renewable energy, that's significantly less important so i don't see why the US would go through all these hassles just to get energy.

He was told that Iran would fold quickly and it would be an easy win for his ego. It’s not happening, and even Fox News can’t sugarcoat the fuel crisis for months and months.

Same thing happened with Iraq.

We were told it would be a quick win, a month at most, and wouldn't cost more than a billion dollars.

Someone8765210932@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 83d

I remember reading a news article about Lindsey Graham who aggressively pushed Trump to attack Iran, while traveling to Israel to get "coached" on how to sell this.

Republican U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina has been exposed by the Wall Street Journal for "coaching" a foreign leader on how to influence Donald Trump.

The WSJ ahead of the weekend published a story called, "Lindsey Graham's Quest to Sell Trump on Striking Iran." In that piece, there is a nugget about the senator engaging in a campaign to help Netanyahu to persuade Trump to launch an Iran war. [...]

"To help make the case on Iran, Graham traveled several times to Israel in recent weeks, meeting with members of the country's intelligence agency," the Journal reported Friday. [...]

The report further states, "He spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, coaching him on how to lobby the president for action. Netanyahu showed the president intelligence that persuaded Trump to go ahead, Graham said." (source: msn, mention WSJ article, archived WSJ article)

Honestly, the fact the Graham openly talks about this is just insane. I guess this shit isn't illegal, nor does it make people question you...

How about instead of Cuba you invade Israel Mr President? Now that would be something no president world ever have done. You would surely go down in history! I'm sure we can also come up with some kind of biggest penis peace prize for you.

It's the Reagan moment where he figured out that he could tell them to stop for whatever they were doing and they stopped. Trump cares a lot about what people think. I would love it if he finds israel too toxic to support and cuts them off.

UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 82d (2 replies)

I think if you asked a Joe Biden voter in 2021 "Are you excited to do genocide across the Levant for the next ten years?" they would not be enthusiastic.

Hell, even the Trumpies don't like our war with Iran (mostly because of gas prices, but still...)

The genocide is part of a Eugenics campaign cooked up by The Epstein Class. But so much of America is just along for the ride.

Ilixtze@lemmy.ml · 3 pts · 82d (1 reply)

But American voters don't count in this equation because America is not a representative democracy. America is a bunch of corporations and arms dealers in a trench coat pretending to be a free democracy. Both political parties have had their part on the genocide. And It's Illegal for Americans (and increasingly Europeans) to do anything that matters against the programmed bloodshed. We have have been funding killing civilians for decades. We are just seen as a little piece of the machinery and they will just try to flood us with propaganda like the one on this article to keep us stalled while they continue their profitable mass murder.

UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 82d

America is not a representative democracy.

A hard pill for the electoralists to swallow.

What's more likely? Both presidents opposed Israel's actions, but decided to continue to illegally give them weapons and money for some fucking reason, or they supported them, but they have PR people capable of reading polls?

FistingEnthusiast@lemmy.world · 19 pts · 84d (22 replies)

Are you seriously trying to equate Trump with Biden?

mrdown@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 9 pts · 84d

Yes. Stop acing like a fucking cultist. Numbers do not lie

During Biden

70% of all structures in Gaza were damaged or destroyed
92% of all housing units destroyed or damaged 88% of school buildings were damaged or destroyed
80% of key water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) facilities
Only 16 out of 36 hospitals were partially functioning, facing critical shortages of fuel, medicine, and clean water.
75% of agricultural land, including orchards and greenhouses, was damaged or destroyed

Biden lied about working on cease fire. He blamed hamas for the failure when the issue ws Israel. Both Trump and Biden bypassed thr congress teice to give more weapons to the terrorist state. The numbers of killed Palestinian was also higher during Biden

kabe@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 83d

In this instance, it's a perfectly reasonable comparison. Both Trump and Biden are/were deeply connected to the Zionist project of Israel and support it unequivocally.

To try and somewhat mitigate backlash from voters, they leak or hint that they are furious with Netanyahu behind the scenes but nevertheless continue to approve a never-ending stream of money and military equipment to Israel to continue their destruction, mass killing and ethnic cleansing.

Alcoholicorn@mander.xyz · 7 pts · 84d (12 replies)

I am describing the same mechanism that both of their staffs used; unsourced reports indicating politician really wants , despite evidence to the contrary.

Trump does not oppose the genocide any more than Biden did, evidenced by giving them the weapons and diplomatic support, and directly attacking countries for interfering.

FistingEnthusiast@lemmy.world · -2 pts · 84d (11 replies)

Nah

You're disingenuous

plus BIBI has a vested interest in staying out of prison HIMSELF, by manipulating trump. he might not get that same support from BIDEN if gets sentenced to jail.

mrdown@lemmy.dbzer0.com · -1 pts · 84d (8 replies)

There is no such a thing as Netenyahu controlling the USA or Trump. Trump is a scum who want to enrich himself and his family with wars and conflicts and also serve american imperialist interests in the middle east

FistingEnthusiast@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 84d (3 replies)

I'm older than many here

Old enough to remember when things happened, and occasionally Mossad would be implicated, but what had happened always served US interests somehow

The ledger is long, and has been filling for decades, always with the understanding that those debts would be repaid

The US always ponies up when they're going to be embarrassed, but they bit off more than they can chew, and their attack dog slipped the leash decades ago

Israel and Zionists have always been experts at weaponised victimhood

mrdown@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 4 pts · 84d (1 reply)

You should be old enough to know that Netanyahu was a hardliner and opposed the Oslo accords although those accords was beneficials to Israel. It allowed them to colonize more swiftly and discretely Palestinian land. Netanyahu wanted to keep the fast way of colonization but American forced him to accept.

There is many other time where Israel listened to the USA because there was real threat if withdrawing some kind of support .

Israel withdrew from the Sinai Peninsula and Gaza Strip. when President Eisenhower threatened to cut off all U.S. aid and support, and considered imposing UN sanctions.

In 1991 Israel refrained from direct military retaliation to Saddam launching missiles to keep the to avoid undermining the U.S.-led Arab coalition against Saddam Intact.

The middle east was the most important region for empires for centuries . The USA control of the straight and trade routes would be an amazing leverage against Russia and China. That's why the USA also backed Saudi Arabia proxies in Yemen to control beb el mendeb . The war on Iran was definitely serving both Israel and the USA imperialist interests not national interests . The failure to win a war do not mean the bad intentions was not there.

If Israel control the USA then there would be no negotiations with Iran. The full scale war will continue. If trump was blackmailed he would easily give the west bank officially to Israel like he did with the Golan heights .

FistingEnthusiast@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 83d

You're so close

I lived through all of that

I laughed when the US went into Iraq when Kuwait slant drilled into their fields and were surprised to be shot at with US weapons

And again when Dubya did what his handlers told him to do

It's not that Israel controls the US.

They've been a useful tool for the West, including the UK for decades, but the power balance changed

The Mossad did dirty work for the West, not just 'Murica

But, Israel might be cruel and vicious, but they were clever, and they did what they did to ensure that they would always enjoy the support of the governments they did the things for that they could not do themselves

That has now shifted, and sharply

Between Kushner, Epstein and others, it's not about leveraging 'Murica, it's about leveraging Trump

And the whole world will have to deal with it, unfortunately

I'm not a hundred percent sure with your first statement, but I agree with the rest. My (quibbling) disagreement is: from over here it looks like he's not being controlled per se, he's being successfully manipulated using the levers and motivations you described. not blackmail. They didn't need to do that. Might not have been able to, as Krasnov's reputation is such I doubt it's possible to slander him. In this case overall it's I think a distinction with little difference for those of us plebes but with all the difference for those in the national and international politics game.
