I don’t, either. I think the prescriptions for my two eyes are so far out of sync that my brain isn’t good at putting together information from both eyes at once. I’ve got a distance eye and a close-in eye.
Let your eyes go out of focus and go a little crossed the slowly bring them back into focus until the image has depth. Once you master holding the half unfocused part then you will start to see an outline. Then hold it as long as you can so you can figure out what it is.
This kind of illusion is autostereoscopic 3D, it works a bit like the 3DS did but instead of a physical parallax barrier you're kind of gaslighting your brain's visual system into processing the image 'wrong' in a way which produces the stereoscopic effect.
You have to relax your eyes completely, don't try and see anything consciously or you'll focus normally. There's a bit of a knack to it, apparently bright light helps but to be honest I never saw them until one time after totally relaxing my eyes it just 'clicked' and I could do it after that. The illusion is quite sensitive to the distance between your eyes and the pattern, you have to be quite close and the exact distance seems to vary for me.
I think it's because it fades into the foreground at the top and bottom instead of having a cutoff point, so if you look at those regions, you see something that doesn't line up, and your eyes drift back to where things usually line up, which is wrong for an autostereogram.
Always weird to me that the most direct, aggressive and honor-driven race is also the one that developed cloaking technology. Seems antithetical to all of that to be sneaky.

Yep. Had to view in landscape orientation and zoom in to crop out those elements. Bonus was that moved the patterns further apart, making it easier to lock on (and fire photon torpedoes).

As two copies of the element from different parts of the page overlap in your vision and gain focus, you might be able to lock on to the hidden 3d image.

It works for me, and it's real neat actually, I can zoom and drag the image and the shape holds O: I had to rotate landscape and zoom in a bit. I have an abnormally good ability to see it in general though

There's actually two ways to view them, cross-eyed or unfocussed.
Cross-eyed makes you see the negative, the imprint. Unfocussed makes most of them pop out in 3d.
Edit: it is also possible to cross or uncross too much and focus on an image that is distorted

It disappears when the image is scaled (like many lemmy interfaces do). Make sure you look at the plain image without zooming.

Ive always been able to get the image to pop but ive never seen thing in a definition clear enough to make out what it was.
My friends didnt believe i could do it until i outlined the shape of it with my finger.
