It's peak irony that she would excempt herself from the nazi problem.

But in the end this is still good news - every tiny bit of coherence lost in the MAGA movement. Infighting. Yay!

wheezy@lemmy.ml · 14 pts · 281d

Did she clarify what the problem was? Maybe she thinks the problem is that there aren't enough Nazis.

...She thinks this is a problem only just now.

TheMinister@sh.itjust.works · 16 pts · 281d (4 replies)

“So many ‘conservatives’ are just salivating over the thought of being able to break windows and openly Sieg Heil in public,” she claimed. “These people hate Trump because he won’t Sieg Heil with them. He won’t scream Alle Juden Raus! And deep down, they hate him for that.”

She really doesn’t get it. Even trump is smart enough to know even he doesn’t have the latitude to “openly Sieg Heil.” The mask has slipped so far from right wing faces that his dumbest supporters think it’s now fine to openly fly their Nazi colors, but the heritage foundation and the like (kochs, Murdoch, et al) are trying to slam on the brakes and pull them back from the brink. But this is a runaway train and she may be right that we’ll have an open Nazi party in ten years time. But she doesn’t seem to grasp the nuance of what’s happening.

Draegur@lemmy.zip · 11 pts · 280d (2 replies)

Yeah only Elon Musk can openly sieg heil ._.

andxz@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 280d

He's protected on account of his imaginary wealth. It's all kinds of wrong but it is what it is.

phutatorius@lemmy.zip · 1 pts · 273d

ut the heritage foundation and the like (kochs, Murdoch, et al) are trying to slam on the brakes and pull them back from the brink

I find that highly unlikely.

More rats sensing the ship is about to sink

Nah. Loomer is a chronic attention seeker. She's just saying anything that will get her name in the headlines one more time.

In a few years time, depending on what happens in the next year, you might think that the entire MAGA movement was a hallucination

They've straight up murdered people en mass. They've "doubled Gitmo" with their concentration camps in Honduras and El Salvador and God only knows where. That's not something you can just undo or walk away from.

If MAGA feels like a hallucination in another few years, it is only because of a massive cover-up by the Still Extremely Fascist media. It will be a prelude to another fascist surge and another wave of totalitarian violence.

We thought the same thing with Bush and the reublicans in his day, and then the Tea party happened. We thought it again with the Tea Party. Then Trump happened. I think the tiki torch guys from Charlottesville are more likely to take over the party than to slink back into the shadows.

Republican politicians aren't leading their base into the crazy, they are holding the crazy back from the rest of us.

chuckleslord@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 281d

Uhhh. No. They think the crazies are useful idiots so they platform them and use them to get more power. Then they only disavow if it becomes politically expedient to do so.

So, not "holding back" so much as "actively garnering support for until it isn't valuable to do so any more"

fodor@lemmy.zip · 2 pts · 280d (1 reply)

You think this is "holding back"? We have death camps in Florida. We have people, citizens even, getting deported to countries they aren't citizens of, or have never lived in. Fuck, my guy, it sure could get worse, but they're not holding back very much, are they.

Triasha@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 279d

Average maga voter wants to deport 15 to 30 million people. Yeah, there are nowhere near getting what they want.

bitjunkie@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 281d (1 reply)

The Nazi problem for them is that there aren't enough people in the party willing to admit they are Nazis.

CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world · 14 pts · 281d (7 replies)

LOL, Laura Loomer:

  1. Says it's not about Israel

I'm thinking she is only saying this now because even if she saw all the Nazi shit before ( and seriously, how could you not?) she was willing to overlook all that as long as the GOP was sufficiently loyal to the very worst shit that Israel was up to. Now that there are a few cracks in that front, she's now worried about all the obvious rampant Nazi shit in her party.

CrabAndBroom@lemmy.ml · 11 pts · 281d (6 replies)

I think people like her, Marjorie Taylor Greene and Karoline Leavitt are starting to turn because they have inside knowledge and know that the MAGA thing is going to crack soon, presumably because either the Epstein files or Trump's health are worse than the public knows (personally I suspect it's the latter, because that's the one thing Trump can't really weasel out of) and they want to appear to have distanced themselves from the crazy before it all happened.

I've been saying for a while that a few years after Trump dies, you won't be able to find anyone who claims to have supported him and I think potentially this is the beginning of that.

kandoh@reddthat.com · 12 pts · 281d (4 replies)

Maga is a personality cult centered around an 80 year old man with obvious health issues.

Everyone sees the writing in the wall, like Alexander's generals after he drank himself to death, they've got to carve out their own fiefdoms from the corpse of his empire.

CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 281d (3 replies)

Maga is a personality cult centered around an 80 year old man with obvious health issues.

Part of me really does wonder what all these asshole cult members and/or those vying to build their own little cult after he's gone will do if he were to die in the WH while that stupid ballroom is still nothing but an AI-generated set of plans. What are they going to do with really egregiously out-of-touch and stupid things like Donvict's ballroom?

They seem to have zero platform, really. It's just trying to own the libs, enrich Donvict, strip the country for parts, enshrine corporatism and coddle the already ridiculously rich.

kandoh@reddthat.com · 3 pts · 280d (1 reply)

Conservatives couldn't give a fuck about policy or outcomes. It's all vibes and emotions to them.

CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 280d

Yep.

The same people all butt mad about people kneeling while a song played and a piece of cloth was displayed AT A GAME (not sure why all that performative "patriotism" is included in a game, but here we are, I guess) are now studiously ignoring Donvict stalking right past a flag lying on the ground at the WH....or in a "special container" according to the Confederate apparatchiks at the WH, but either way, it violates the flag code, which these people pretend to give so many fucks about.

Until it turns out in a plot twist, no, they don't really give a fuck about the flag code at all, they are furious about others protesting black people being murdered by cop and pretend they aren't really mad about that...."don't bring politics into my sportsball that already has performative "patriotic" rituals inserted into it for some reason".

CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 281d

The other comparison the Professional Left podcast makes - and it's more apt than ever for the Confederates - is the notion of the Nazis burning their uniforms as they fled the battlefield and lost the war.

These people are going to construct alt versions of the Republican Party, call it something else, most likely, but still run Republican Party candidates. Terms like "maga" and "America first" and "teabagger/tea party" are of course meaningless terms that can be made to stand for virtually anything.

CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 281d

I’ve been saying for a while that a few years after Trump dies, you won’t be able to find anyone who claims to have supported him and I think potentially this is the beginning of that.

As the Professional Left keeps saying - "burn the lifeboats" - they just had an episode talking about how Marge seems to be the very first who is constructing that lifeboat. Just like all these fuckers did after W's fantastic flameout.

Looks like Fuentes is also doing it, too - although it's the darker path as compared to the made-up teabagger (their original name)/ "tea party" movement, and it involves "graduating" from "maga" to "America first" and he has hats to sell everyone, just like Donvict did...

KindnessIsPunk@lemmy.ca · 14 pts · 281d

They've had that problem for at least 50 years. It's just been really fucking obvious for the past 12.
