I get what you're saying from the context, but the way you phrases it makes it sound like it's becoming more clearly defined that Trump is not Hitler. Generally, more "blurring of the lines" equates to a thing becoming less clearly distinguishable from another thing.

What is a "world civil war" and how is that different from a world war?
My understanding is that a "civil war" is a war within a country, for the dominance and rulership of that country, usually over ideals or laws or something. And a world war is just.... a worldwide war. I wish my grandparents were still around to seek real advice on this, I truly miss them and their experience and wisdom.

You could say that some of the national borders as they exist right now are needlessly artificial.
Take Spain and Catalonia for example. The only reason that Catalonia is not an independent country is because Spain won't let them be. There's no real reason other than Spanish national pride and if there was a war between the two you could classify it as a civil war or you could classify it as a war between two countries, it's entirely a matter of opinion.
But I don't think that US politics has any real bearing on whether or not that happens. Political instability in the United States doesn't really lead to any obvious change in internal politics for other countries. External policies obviously would change but not internal ones.

Had the war turned out differently there would have been a radical cultural difference between Nazi controlled Europe and Japanese controlled Asia. In the long run it would have probably led to another war because of the extreme cultural differences.
Alternative history is sort of difficult because we don't know what the capabilities of those powers would have been. In order for the Nazis to have won the war a lot of people on both sides would have needed to make quite radically different decisions.
However it doesn't take much theorizing to suggest that Nazi Germany would have probably had nuclear weapons in that scenario (the Germans were moving in that direction towards the end of the war, but were never really able to make much progress because by that point they were losing badly and didn't have the resources anymore).
I can't see how Japan would have ended up with nuclear weapons though. So I suspect a certain amount of power imbalance would have existed.

You can do a lot less with $100K in the USA than in other countries. Americans get paid more because they immediately have to pay that back out on expenses that are covered by taxes in civilised countries. So the pay sounds much better but it really isn't. You're falling into the trap of thinking "if we just did it like the Americans and didn't pay for any common goods, we'd have more money in our pockets." You would, for about 5 minutes until the bills came. Then you'd have less, and also live in a dysfunctional society where everyone is miserable and angry and defensive. Left wing politics is what protects a society from this fate. It's not worth throwing it all away for a slightly cheaper graphics card.
Check your homeowners insurance cost and property taxes before you start talking about how cheap houses are in Texas. It can run $18k/year in insurance and another 10k in property taxes for a $400k house... If you put 80k down on a $400k house, the mortgage is roughly $2100/month in principle and interest, plus another $933ish per month for Property taxes($5000/year), insurance($5000/year), and hoa fees($1200/year). Your housing cost is ~$3k/month. Property taxes go up every year on top of that. They are limited to a 10%/year increase but historically, that translates to basically a guaranteed 10%/year increase, especially in the last 10 years. Insurance premiums have more than doubled in the last 10 years as well.
That's also not covering the god awful electricity stability so you want some sort of generator or battery backup so you don't literally freeze to death in the middle of winter. Basic starter generators are what, $10k right? And then $2k in gas a year? Minimum.
To run a heater or ac, you need a significant generator. I have been looking at battery systems and to run an existing residential ac, its like 10k and you need two inverters. Where I am, the power failures have been minimal and manageable (30 minute intervals every couple months) The exception was Hurricane Beryl and we were out of power for 3 days. I intermittently ran a generator for our fridge and the neighbors to charge stuff but even running a window unit was not an option on our 5000w generator. It burned maybe 2 gallons of gas?
Running an electric central air heater is also essentially out of the question. With a gas heater, you just need to run the fan and not heat the elements.
Despite the health risks, that is why we still use. Gas water heaters, gas furnaces, gas dryers, and a gas stove in our house. I want the fallback of running stuff without power. The grid is also shitty to the point (in some areas) that it fried my uncles induction stove, fridge, and ovens even living in a major city.
That also wouldn't have helped during the winter storm in Austin because the gas supply basically froze and lost pressure so those folks were really hurting.
I think the big built in generators run 15k plus and run off natural gas. I did learn that they also require a maintenance subscription (because of course they do) and thats like 2k a year iirc.
I think you're looking at averages and not median. The US has a lot more billionaires and now trillionaires. Median household income in Australia is $1800/week and in the US it's $1500/week and plummeting plus our unemployment is now through the roof to a degree that's not even being measured accurately. And we go broke from healthcare.
I know you pay more for some elements of gaming, and you're being shafted on that. But maybe check the news out a little and ask if Call of Duty is really worth all this.

There is a difference between the America of 30 years ago and now that you may not realize. You reference housing and yeah 30 years ago you could afford housing (possibly) but now private equity has purchased housing so new home ownership is getting impossible. You mentioned American laptops (made in China) and operating systems (Linux is from Finland), but the breakthroughs that allowed for current American tech dominance were based on policies that have been dismantled and now currently exist due to monopolies. We are on a downward trend over here where we are living off the accomplishments of old. Think about it like IBM. They were a tech powerhouse until they moved to being a services company and then became a shadow of their former self. They still exist and are a big company but nothing compared to what they were. That’s America now. Australia has the potential to take the reins if they DO NOT follow the current US example as do many other countries.

The USA will be treated as even less trustworthy than Russia and China. Russia and China are of course untrustworthy but at least they are consistently untrustworthy. Everyone knows to give them a wide birth.
But the USA, they insinuated themselves into high-level defence pacts and international military cooperation. Then they decided to turn fascist and destroy everything for no readily apparent reason.
If there is going to be any repairing of fences, it's going to have to start off with the US paying for all the damage they have done to the world order and all of the renegotiating of contracts that has had to be done because they didn't feel like fulfilling their international obligations. And also justice, if the Trump admin don't end up in prison then the rest of the world is going to see that for what it is. An attempt to defend the indefensible, and therefore an indication that they have not truly changed.

What is a "world civil war" and how is that different from a world war?
My understanding is that a "civil war" is a war within a country, for the dominance and rulership of that country, usually over ideals or laws or something. And a world war is just.... a worldwide war. I wish my grandparents were still around to seek real advice on this, I truly miss them and their experience and wisdom.

You could say that some of the national borders as they exist right now are needlessly artificial.
Take Spain and Catalonia for example. The only reason that Catalonia is not an independent country is because Spain won't let them be. There's no real reason other than Spanish national pride and if there was a war between the two you could classify it as a civil war or you could classify it as a war between two countries, it's entirely a matter of opinion.
But I don't think that US politics has any real bearing on whether or not that happens. Political instability in the United States doesn't really lead to any obvious change in internal politics for other countries. External policies obviously would change but not internal ones.

A slight nitpick but Japan didn't side with the Nazis. They had their own thing going on with China and simply saw the Nazis as an opportunity for some payback. It wasn't like they really bought into the Nazi ideology as didn't really apply to them. The Italians were all in on it though.
Had the war turned out differently there would have been a radical cultural difference between Nazi controlled Europe and Japanese controlled Asia. In the long run it would have probably led to another war because of the extreme cultural differences.

Alternative history is sort of difficult because we don't know what the capabilities of those powers would have been. In order for the Nazis to have won the war a lot of people on both sides would have needed to make quite radically different decisions.
However it doesn't take much theorizing to suggest that Nazi Germany would have probably had nuclear weapons in that scenario (the Germans were moving in that direction towards the end of the war, but were never really able to make much progress because by that point they were losing badly and didn't have the resources anymore).
I can't see how Japan would have ended up with nuclear weapons though. So I suspect a certain amount of power imbalance would have existed.

Well, no it won't change the true believers minds outright. That is true. But I do know the biggest divisions we've seen in public with the GOP has been over the epstein files.
Anecdotally it's the only topic the chuds I know don't want to discuss, be aware of, or have to do the work to justify.
So if anything it thins their ranks a bit, which is absolutely a worthwhile end. No other wedge issue has been as effective.

Fine with me, that's a risk I'll take to stop fascists. The problem with Americans is they don't see how anyone would accept this, because this is about treasure for them. For me and my family it's existential.
In other words it's easy for you to say all of this because you're in the US so you're apparently incapable of understanding that others would rather die than join you. Also you seem to think no one else has power over your country. I think the first thing we should do is cut the power to the northeastern US, preferably during the deep winter. Nothing quite like freezing to death in the dark to provide that much needed perspective.

You can do a lot less with $100K in the USA than in other countries. Americans get paid more because they immediately have to pay that back out on expenses that are covered by taxes in civilised countries. So the pay sounds much better but it really isn't. You're falling into the trap of thinking "if we just did it like the Americans and didn't pay for any common goods, we'd have more money in our pockets." You would, for about 5 minutes until the bills came. Then you'd have less, and also live in a dysfunctional society where everyone is miserable and angry and defensive. Left wing politics is what protects a society from this fate. It's not worth throwing it all away for a slightly cheaper graphics card.

Check your homeowners insurance cost and property taxes before you start talking about how cheap houses are in Texas. It can run $18k/year in insurance and another 10k in property taxes for a $400k house... If you put 80k down on a $400k house, the mortgage is roughly $2100/month in principle and interest, plus another $933ish per month for Property taxes($5000/year), insurance($5000/year), and hoa fees($1200/year). Your housing cost is ~$3k/month. Property taxes go up every year on top of that. They are limited to a 10%/year increase but historically, that translates to basically a guaranteed 10%/year increase, especially in the last 10 years. Insurance premiums have more than doubled in the last 10 years as well.

That's also not covering the god awful electricity stability so you want some sort of generator or battery backup so you don't literally freeze to death in the middle of winter. Basic starter generators are what, $10k right? And then $2k in gas a year? Minimum.

To run a heater or ac, you need a significant generator. I have been looking at battery systems and to run an existing residential ac, its like 10k and you need two inverters. Where I am, the power failures have been minimal and manageable (30 minute intervals every couple months) The exception was Hurricane Beryl and we were out of power for 3 days. I intermittently ran a generator for our fridge and the neighbors to charge stuff but even running a window unit was not an option on our 5000w generator. It burned maybe 2 gallons of gas?
Running an electric central air heater is also essentially out of the question. With a gas heater, you just need to run the fan and not heat the elements.
Despite the health risks, that is why we still use. Gas water heaters, gas furnaces, gas dryers, and a gas stove in our house. I want the fallback of running stuff without power. The grid is also shitty to the point (in some areas) that it fried my uncles induction stove, fridge, and ovens even living in a major city.
That also wouldn't have helped during the winter storm in Austin because the gas supply basically froze and lost pressure so those folks were really hurting.
I think the big built in generators run 15k plus and run off natural gas. I did learn that they also require a maintenance subscription (because of course they do) and thats like 2k a year iirc.

I think you're looking at averages and not median. The US has a lot more billionaires and now trillionaires. Median household income in Australia is $1800/week and in the US it's $1500/week and plummeting plus our unemployment is now through the roof to a degree that's not even being measured accurately. And we go broke from healthcare.
I know you pay more for some elements of gaming, and you're being shafted on that. But maybe check the news out a little and ask if Call of Duty is really worth all this.

There is a difference between the America of 30 years ago and now that you may not realize. You reference housing and yeah 30 years ago you could afford housing (possibly) but now private equity has purchased housing so new home ownership is getting impossible. You mentioned American laptops (made in China) and operating systems (Linux is from Finland), but the breakthroughs that allowed for current American tech dominance were based on policies that have been dismantled and now currently exist due to monopolies. We are on a downward trend over here where we are living off the accomplishments of old. Think about it like IBM. They were a tech powerhouse until they moved to being a services company and then became a shadow of their former self. They still exist and are a big company but nothing compared to what they were. That’s America now. Australia has the potential to take the reins if they DO NOT follow the current US example as do many other countries.
