Drbreen@sh.itjust.works · 10 pts · 137d (2 replies)

Just in case.

Drbreen@sh.itjust.works · 3 pts · 137d

I need several tissues for that

IAmYouButYouDontKnowYet@reddthat.com · 6 pts · 137d (1 reply)

For some reason your post reminded me of when I got my first flip phone and I hadn't had a designated pocket for it.

Alcoholicorn@mander.xyz · 6 pts · 137d

That's why they had phone holsters.

butmingus@piefed.social · 7 pts · 137d

Phone, left front. Wallet (including work fob) and key in right front; small flashlight and chapstick in the coin pocket; pen clipped to back right pocket.

Plus I guess not technically in my pocket, but I've been front horizontal carrying a leatherman (or sometimes a fixed blade with a pry bar clipped to it).

bender223@lemmy.today · 6 pts · 136d

nice try fed 😛

theherk@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 137d (2 replies)

Didn’t we just do this yesterday?

WhatsHerBucket@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 136d (1 reply)

Damn, sorry. I was in a restaurant trying to settle a bet. I didn’t have chance to look back at the posts.

I’m prepared for my lashings.

theherk@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 136d

No lashings in order, but that is an uncanny coinkydink.

Janx@piefed.social · 5 pts · 137d

I don't always carry all of this, but this is fully-loaded:

  • Right pocket: phone
  • Left pocket: beeswax lip balm, contact lens drops, vehicle keys
  • Right side pocket: work keys, microfiber cloth
  • Left side pocket: work phone, device failure "toe tags"
  • Belt: work ID/access badge
  • Right extra pocket: bit-driver with 8 bits
  • Right rear: wallet
  • Left rear: needlenose pliers
  • Clipped to lapel: micro Phillips/flathead screwdriver, pen
  • Shoulder: laptop bag with cables
  • Right ear: Bluetooth earpiece

I'm pretty happy with this setup for most of my workday...

LadyButterfly@piefed.blahaj.zone · 5 pts · 137d

My hands cos they're cold

Alcoholicorn@mander.xyz · 4 pts · 137d

Depends where I am and weather, here in Japan, its

Front right: Phone

Front left: wallet+earbuds

Back right: keys/train tickets back

Back left: misc recipts

Inner jacket right: tissues+hand sanitizer

Inner jacket left: folding umbrella.

AceFuzzLord@lemmy.zip · 4 pts · 137d

As for pockets, I ain't saying which, but almost ways just my wallet and phone. Only things I ever really carry on me regularly. Keys usually stay with whatever I am taking with me ( laptop case, backpack, whatever ), so I'd be screwed if I lost whatever I take with me.

SadSadSatellite@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 4 pts · 137d

Left front phone. Right front knife or multitool. Coin pocket zippo. Rear right wallet, rear left key fob. On the occasion I have my keys me, they're on a short leather strap clipped to my belt loop in my right front.

Due to my job, all my jackets have a millimeter ruler and a staedler 319f marker in the front pocket, and my left inside pocket has a fountain pen with blue ink, and a pilot gtec C4 with black ink. Right Inside pocket has a hairtie, toothpicks, and a carved jade turtle figurine (skjoldpada).

dual_sport_dork@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 136d

Ctrl + F. "Knife." Only 5 results.

I'm not angry, I'm just disappointed.

Catoblepas@piefed.blahaj.zone · 4 pts · 137d

Left front: phone

Right front: keys, change, sometimes earplugs

Right butt: wallet

Anything else I need is in my backpack.

DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 137d (1 reply)

Keys front right, wallet rear right, phone rear left. That's all I carry.

Front left is for anything miscellaneous I pick up during the day, if I do.

Before I retired, I also carried a pen, and a leatherman tool, but I don't need those anymore.

brb@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 137d

So you sit on your phone?

rob_t_firefly@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 137d

I like to put my pocket into my pocket and watch things get real weird.

Professorozone@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 136d

FR = PHONE FL= KEYS RR=WALLET LEFT WRIST =WATCH/FITNESS TRACKER NECK OF SHIRT = GLASSES

Sorry. I count to five before leaving the house to make sure I have everything and so I included more than pockets.

Griffus@lemmy.zip · 3 pts · 136d (2 replies)

Phone in right back pocket or inner jacket pocket. Left front pocket, snus, if I don't have a jacket left pocket for it. Right front pocket, apartment keys and lip balm. Earplugs in right jacket pocket. And if I'm going for a breakfast or lunch at a café, reading pad in inner left pocket.

curlywurly@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 136d (1 reply)

that's wild. I prefer keeping my anus in my right front pocket

Griffus@lemmy.zip · 0 pts · 136d

Haha, oops. Snus is what it was supposed to be.

Nomad@infosec.pub · 3 pts · 136d

Daily carry: front left, phone. Front right keys. Back right, wallet. Back left, a pack of paper tissues.

bender223@lemmy.today · 3 pts · 136d (1 reply)

most days, I wear cargo pants, and I put my phone in right pocket, keys in left. and Bluetooth earbuds in lower left pocket , wallet in the lower right.

henfredemars@infosec.pub · 2 pts · 136d

Cargo can be hard to find in the shops these days. I love it for air travel.

Fondots@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 137d (2 replies)

Wallet goes in my back left. Used to be my right but the way I sit that started to give me some sciatica issues no problem since I switched pockets. I also switched to a thinner wallet which probably helps as well but that came well after switching sides

Back right usually gets a bandana

Things move around between my front pockets a bit.

I usually carry a pocket knife and if it has a clip that gets clipped to the front right, no exceptions. If it doesn't have a clip it could be in either front pocket, or possibly a belt pouch.

I usually have a pen on me and if my shirt doesn't have a pocket that goes there as well.

I've been sporting a curly handlebar moustache for probably 15 years now, and if I'm wearing jeans or something else with a similar little watch/coin pocket, my tin of moustache wax goes there. Otherwise that tin goes into whichever pocket I find it's rattling the least against whatever else is in that pocket.

Phone switches back and forth between my left and right front pocket, based mostly on which hand I was last using it with. If I was just aimlessly scrolling on my phone or texting someone I probably had it in my right hand so it goes in the front right. It occasionally also ends up in a jacket or shirt pocket.

If I was using it while I was doing something else, like maybe looking at a recipe while I was cooking it was probably in my left hand so it goes in that pocket.

If I have cargo pockets it sometimes ends up in one of those. One of my pairs of hiking pants has a pocket that fits it really nicely.

Keys generally get clipped to a belt loop on my right side, the case for my earbuds gets clipped on my left. Other times they end up in a jacket pocket or usually my front right pocket.

I usually carry a small notepad with me, like with the pen it preferably goes in a shirt pocket, otherwise it usually ends up in my right front, or if I have cargo pockets one of those.

GarboDog@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 136d (1 reply)

HOW MANY POCKETS DO YOU HAVE AND WHY DO YOU HAVE A BANANA POCKET?! 😭

Edit: my ass totally read banana when you actually said banDana. Mb but we were laughing hysterically about a banana pocket.

Fondots@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 136d

Normally 5-7 between my shirt and pants.

2 front and back pockets on my pants

The little watch pocket on jeans and such

One or two shirt pockets

Occasionally I wear cargo pants or shorts which adds 2+ more pockets

And if I'm wearing a jacket, that adds a few more. My most commonly worn jacket has 2 hip, 2 chest, and 2 inside pockets

And if I'm fishing, even I don't know how many pockets are on my vest, pretty sure that adds a dozen or so

WolfmanEightySix@piefed.social · 2 pts · 137d

In my personal time…

front right; phone.

Front left; vape and liquid.

Maybe a wallet in my back right pocket.

In work time…

Front left keys, torch, vape and liquid in my flappy pocket.

Front right; personal and work phone.

Flappy front right, a selection of small tools and pens.

Back left; keys

Back right; more keys.

hereiamagain@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 136d

Front left: wireless headphones, flashlight, wallet, 6ft of Paracord.

Front right: cell phone, knife.

Back left: any small trash I've collected throughout the day.

Back right: usually empty 🤷‍♂️

I don't like sitting on things. Kept my wallet in my back right until I was 25 or 30, started hurting my back. Since switching it forward, no issues.

Gerudo@lemmy.zip · 2 pts · 137d (6 replies)

All you left pocket phone people, are you left handed?

lauha@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 137d

My dominant hand might be in use, so left pocket is more often available while I'm doing something. Same reason why wrist watch is traditionally on left hand.

geekwithsoul@piefed.social · 2 pts · 137d (1 reply)

No, because I hold the phone with my nondominant hand (my left) and interact with it using my dominant hand (my right). Why would I put it in the pocket on my dominant handed side? I'd just have to switch it to the other hand once it was out of my pocket.

Gerudo@lemmy.zip · 1 pts · 137d

Interacting with my phone is so much easier with my dominant hand (right).

WhatsHerBucket@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 137d (2 replies)

This is what prompted the question. I didn’t have a phone until I was older, so my wallet always went in the right. Only place left for the phone is the left.

There was speculation this could be an age thing.

Gerudo@lemmy.zip · 2 pts · 137d (1 reply)

Funny, I grew up without a phone but my wallet was always back right pocket, keys in front left.

WhatsHerBucket@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 136d

I was always taught wallet in the front pockets to help protect against pickpockets and also sciatica.

finalarbiter@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 2 pts · 137d

Phone front right, wallet and earbuds front left. My keys go on a retractable carabiner attached to a belt loop but sometimes get tucked into the nearest pocket to reduce jingling.

hansolo@lemmy.today · 2 pts · 136d

Summer mode:

Front right pocket, phone. Left pocket keys and slimline wallet. Optional, pocket knife in little coin pocket.

BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today · 2 pts · 136d

I used to carry a wallet on my left front pocket, and a folding knife and a lightweight multi-tool in my right pocket. Also keys and change.

Now I carry a sling bag, and everything goes in there. Usually the only thing in my pockets now are keys and change.

Kurtagag@lemmy.ca · 2 pts · 136d

mrmaplebar@fedia.io · 2 pts · 137d

Wallet, keys and phone. Front pockets.

tiredofsametab@fedia.io · 2 pts · 137d

Left front: phone

Right front: wallet and hand towel

Back belt loop: keys on caribeener

agamemnonymous@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 137d

Front right: keys.

Back right: wallet.

Back left: phone, until I sit down then I just pull it out and set it on a table or something.

Front left: nothing usually, but if I put something that isn't one of the above in my pocket, that's the one. When I smoked, that's where the cigarette case went.

HubertManne@piefed.social · 2 pts · 136d

keys and wallet are in the winter jacket pocket in winter. man I need a summer coat with that many pockets that does not hold in heat at all.

AliasVortex@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 137d

I tend to keep a fair bit of my stuff clipped to my belt loops, not quite as streamlined and elegant as cramming everything in a pocket, but much easier to tell when something is missing (and far less likely to beat up my phone).

Front left pocket: wallet, multitool (Nextool s11)

Front left belt loop: noise cancelling earbuds (Sony WF-1000XM5)

Front right pocket: phone (pixel 9 pro xl)

Front right belt loop: keys

Hip right belt loop: work badge (when applicable)

Lokoschade@feddit.org · 2 pts · 137d

Pocket knife as a tool and self defense, right front pocket of my jacket. A lighter, I don't smoke but in case I or someone else wants to light something on fire, inside pocket of my jacket. And phone, keys and other stuff but it varies where I store them.

fiendishplan@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 137d

Left front pocket: wallet Right front pocket: Phone, Keys and a 1 tb thumb drive

Mycatiskai@lemmy.ca · 2 pts · 137d

Left pocket: phone and if I don't have a bag then also my secrid wallet behind my phone with my screen against my leg.

Right pocket: folding knife, dog poop bags

If it's cold then my vest has my gloves and toque when I get to warm.

If it is dark then I have a light clip on my chest in some way so the light is in shining on my path.

If I'm hiking light then I probably have an extendable hiking pole with folding water bottle.

Appoxo@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 2 pts · 136d

maybe a hair tie or marker pen. sometimes tools (mainly wrenches). uhh not really any specific pockets we use for stuff, ,

Horsey@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 137d

Phone on left. Bundle of keys on the right. Dick typically goes right, but I try to even it out once in a while.

ArmoredThirteen@lemmy.zip · 2 pts · 137d

I don't have pants pockets but my purse is to the left. I made it myself so I have a perfectly sized pocket for my phone towards the front, wallet in the middle, keys further back. Random whatever else goes in the main compartment
