This. This so much.

I mean, there are plenty of good reasons not to "film a TikTok", but I'm pretty confident this particular TikTok really highlights one over the rest.

some_kind_of_guy@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 20h (3 replies)

Were one to film a TikTok, I might be impressed

I think anyone who films themselves (or anything really) while driving should get their license permanently revoked

lost_faith@lemmy.ca · 11 pts · 1d (1 reply)

The 2 things worse than drunk driving, being overly tired and distracted by your phone

Zannsolo@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 18h

Maybe worse than buzzed driving. Overly tired people are more likely to crash in a ditch than going 110 and causing a head in collision.

kryptonianCodeMonkey@lemmy.world · 59 pts · 1d (8 replies)

And then instead of deleting this video in (very earned) shame, she still posted that shit.

KC_Royalz@lemmy.world · 36 pts · 1d (4 replies)

And first thing she does is reach for her phone

::: spoiler I would too though ⑨①① :::

BigPotato@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 22h

As someone who has rolled their car, I grabbed the keys from the ignition, the toll pass on the windshield and stepped out of the car to look for my phone.

It's a weird reflex but, like, gotta have my phone to call for help.

Cytobit@piefed.social · 8 pts · 13h

Gee, maybe she wanted to call for help?

SlurpingPus@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 11h

It's a valid concern. I've been on a long trip in winter, flew out of the road on ice, rolled over and back onto the wheels. Everything was fine, except I never found my phone which had the navigation map. Had to complete the trip navigating by my laptop with a usb modem. The windows were rolled up, but the phone apparently just poofed into nonexistence.

bdonvr@thelemmy.club · 14 pts · 1d

I mean it was a pretty crazy video I'd keep it

I would never post it, but I'd keep it

burido@lemmy.world · -10 pts · 16h (1 reply)

That's becasue it's ** generated. Just look at the how she uses the steering wheel and how the car respondes. Also how the car flips and that she didn't use the brakes at all.

Cethin@lemmy.zip · 1 pts · 3h

God, I hate this shit. I really don't think it is. It's called "losing control" for a reason. The car is no longer responding to the driver input as you would expect. The car rolls over, so it obviously slides sideways. That's never a steering direction you can input. Is every car roll over AI generated?

whaleross@lemmy.world · 48 pts · 1d (3 replies)

hit me baby one more time

She wasn't emotional. She was playing while driving.

OctopusNemeses@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 1d

It's likely an LLM description of the video. Much slop repost content lately has been weirdly titled in ways that a human wouldn't write.

This is what I came here to post. I thought that was what she was saying / singing.

Aralakh@lemmy.ca · 2 pts · 1d

Gotta get dat vid posted of course, priorities 🌈

SlurpingPus@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 11h

I've had my phone with navigation maps completely disappear after a 180° rollover with closed windows, while everything else remained intact. Never found it afterwards, had to complete the trip orienting by the laptop with a usb modem. Next time, I'm grabbing the phone even before the car starts rolling.

rizzothesmall@sh.itjust.works · 31 pts · 11h (1 reply)

If your first instinct after a car crash is to react to your stream while still dangling upside down in your seat then you have a detrimental addiction.

I dunno. If engaging content is your goal, this one had me hooked from beginning to end. I want to see more.

jumperalex@lemmy.world · 20 pts · 1d (11 replies)

Say what you will, but she steered into the slide like a boss!!! It wasn't enough, but even F1 drivers spin-out sometimes.

SillyDude@lemmy.zip · 12 pts · 1d (8 replies)

Okay counter steering, but in a fwd like that you also have to bury the gas to try and pull out of it. Which is counterintuitive. I usually change my driving-mind when racing but I've had a few oh shit moments on dirt where I kinda forgot and mid slide remember oh yeah, gas.

grue@lemmy.world · -1 pts · 1d (7 replies)

How do you know it was FWD? Do you have encyclopedic knowledge of vehicle interiors by make/model or something?

Salamanderwizard@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 1d (3 replies)

It looks like a car. Possibly a Accord or something like that. Most of them are all fwd I believe.

grue@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 23h (2 replies)

It's definitely an SUV/crossover/wagon. The rear window is almost vertical.

Salamanderwizard@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 23h

And good job pointing that out, I had missed the angle of the back window.

Salamanderwizard@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 23h

Station wagon maybe? They got that suv look but with a car soul. Whatever it was, def does look fwd.

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 7h (2 replies)

Very few RWD vehicles nowadays

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 6h

True, but you can make very reasonable estimates.

Viceversa@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 1d (1 reply)

She was just chaotically rotating, IMO.

jumperalex@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 1d

idk, looked intentional, but panicked. she was even looking into it. I have 100% seen similar vids and the person just grips the wheel, or throws up their hands. at least an attempt was made.

As for the precipitating factors, she's a moron.

but that's a pretty hard b.

I should repeat: she could have killed somebody.

And all for tiktok. She's a stupid bitch.

chortle_tortle@mander.xyz · 10 pts · 22h (4 replies)

I am aware, and it is stupid.

You're still being sexist. If you don't want to be sexist, and want to reduce the sexism on lemmy, you could just describe it any other way.

She's fucking stupid.

She's a childish piece of shit.

This stupid fuck could have killed someone.

Like why are you so tied to this word, and why is that more important to you than the bigotry it carries?

Viceversa@lemmy.world · -1 pts · 12h (1 reply)

If a person would be male , I would call him a stupid bastard / prick / dick . Or a bitch.

And she's a stupid bitch, who could have killed somebody.
"Hard b" is warranted.

chortle_tortle@mander.xyz · 1 pts · 1h

None of which carry the same sexist history or impact. Why is invoking sexism warranted and why is it more important to you than making lemmy a less sexist space?

Strider@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 10h (6 replies)

I never get how people driving at medium speeds (for Germany at least) drive that bad that they roll over their car that easy.

So whats going on here? Is she turning and possibly braking in a way that this happens? Why not hit the brakes hard holding the wheel and taking the hit as would (often) make sense?

moopet@sh.itjust.works · 13 pts · 8h (2 replies)

I used to live on a narrow road (you could pass another car but you'd need to squeeze into the bushes a bit) in the country and my kitchen was at the front of the house so I could see the road while I ate breakfast. This backstory makes it sound like I'm about to launch into a recipe, but no. One day before school I saw a car go past at like a walking pace and five seconds later one came down the hill at the same sort of speed but on its roof. It kept sliding for about 50m. I have no idea how they managed to turn it but it was funny as hell. The driver was just looking at me upside down all the time.

TwodogsFighting@lemdro.id · 12 pts · 8h

I tried making this but I substituted the flour for pva glue and it came out all runny. 7/10

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 5h

if i was upside down and caught your eye contact, i'd totally mime "i'm on the phone what the hell" at you

Duckingold@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 8h (2 replies)

It looks like she is driving an older version SUV. They were notoriously top heavy and easier to roll.

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 7h (1 reply)

And a lot of people don't realize just how domed the average road is to prevent water buildup. There can be significant differential between kerb and the peak of the road depending on speed limit and curve. We're just used to it.

Strider@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 5h

Thanks for the answers and yes I think there is a significant difference in the build of the street here and there. This, in addition with the top heavy suv might explain it.

I even wonder if these were allowed over here as the safety standards are quite different (eg sparing us from the cybertruck).

It's mirrored so you don't think it's America.

grue@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1d

More likely because somebody wanted to evade copyright filters or something like that, but sure, could be obfuscating for the sake of obfuscating too.

Cytobit@piefed.social · 2 pts · 12h (1 reply)

Aren't front-facing camera videos mirrored by default?

pHr34kY@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 12h

It will display mirrored on the same device. If it records or transmits that way, it's a bug.

noxypaws@pawb.social · -4 pts · 1d (11 replies)

The phone was clearly on a mount. Not like she was interacting with the phone when the accident happened.

I hate tiktok as much as the next lemmy user, but damn some of the comments in here are unreasonably hostile (not to mention sexist).

anewfox@lemmy.zip · 2 pts · 1d (1 reply)

something i've noticed after being on lemmy for a few months is the comments are absolutely worse than reddit's. nearly every thread i click on, the top comment is someone speculating wildly on something they could have just googled in two seconds. reddit at least sometimes has decent comments at the top, but not lemmy. it's not making me go back to reddit, but i've learned i prefer endless stupid jokes over anger derived from performative stupidity.

TrickDacy@lemmy.world · -5 pts · 22h (8 replies)

Not a single top level comment is hostile or sexist. I've been a blocking spree lately so it's possible that's why I don't see them but I just don't.

TrickDacy@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 22h (2 replies)

It's been a common thing on this platform for a long time that there will be like 10 comments and someone will say that all the comments are horrible based on one of them being not great.

BradleyUffner@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 22h (1 reply)

It can take a long time, sometimes several hours, for comments to synchronize across instances because of the way federation works. Not everyone has the same view of comments based on where they are coming from and where a comment originated.

TrickDacy@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 22h

That might be the explanation sometimes but more commonly people read one thing they don't like and get mad that it's not shouted down.

TrickDacy@lemmy.world · -1 pts · 22h (2 replies)

Just looked again and don't see it. Like I said I've blocked a lot of assholes.

BradleyUffner@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 22h (1 reply)

You shouldn't talk in absolutes like that about top level comments when you know you've taken steps that specifically hide content from your view. You can't talk authoritatively in that situation.

TrickDacy@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 22h

For a long time

Years ago this was a thing when my blocklist was like 5 long. Either you haven't been here long or haven't paid attention to this phenomenon like I have. Is it really an absolute if I provide a clear caveat that I might just not be seeing this?
