Isn't that the chemical weapon from The Rock ?

Botzo@lemmy.world · 125 pts · 43d (24 replies)

TranscendentalEmpire@lemmy.today · 68 pts · 43d (10 replies)

Fun fact, Mi6 plagiarized from the plot from The Rock to justify the invasion of Iraq.

Specifically "the use of glass containers for chemical agents and the similarity of the description to those portrayed in The Rock "

sorter_plainview@lemmy.today · 22 pts · 43d (2 replies)

That is not really correct based on the available information. Look at the title of the article itself,

The Rock movie plot 'may have inspired MI6 source's Iraqi weapons claim'

The source of Mi6, claimed that Iraq had this. But Mi6 was clearly suspicious, because chemical ammunition are usually not stored in glass containers. This is given just below of the line you quoted,

MI6 accepted this possible flaw to the intelligence, the report adds: “The questions about the use of glass containers for chemical agents and the similarity of the description to those portrayed in The Rock had been recognised by SIS. There were some precedents for the use of glass containers but the points would be pursued when further material became available.”

TranscendentalEmpire@lemmy.today · 7 pts · 43d

The quote from the article is coming from a 2016 review of the original information passed on to America to justify the war. So they now recognize that it is bullshit from a movie, but that didn't stop them from transferring the information back in the 00s.

Chemical ammunition are stored in the butt cheeks

JFC... What a surreal damned world. That's ludicrous, but if you look at what Trump say or does is doesn't even come close.

raspberriesareyummy@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 43d (5 replies)

Even if true, there's nothing "fun" about the origin story that led to a war killing over a hundred thousands and including some horrible war crimes.

There were hostages on the island and if the pearl popped it would infect all of the hostages and possibly caught the wind to disperse over part of SF. Even one would have killed hundreds of people.

TheDeadInternet@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 43d (2 replies)

If it hit the water it would probably be fine water is very good at diluting stuff.

Japan dumped the radioactive water they had from the meltdown and nothing really bad happened because again large bodies of water are great at diluting stuff.

The only thing I can think of is if there was ground below it could have cracked and possibly got to the hostages.

Zink@programming.dev · 4 pts · 43d (1 reply)

iirc that water released from japan wasn't even that radioactive on its own before dilution, but nuclear scary stuff gets attention and clicks.

I thought that in the movie it was some kind of nerve agent?

MimicJar@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 43d (4 replies)

I have a degree in Internet oddities if that counts. I know bottle gardens are a thing, where you have a sustaining ecosystem of plants inside a bottle. Could you make them small spheres instead? Maybe?

IAMgROOT@lemmy.wtf · 1 pts · 43d

thats when you have an entire ecosystem, not just a singular microbe species

IAMgROOT@lemmy.wtf · 1 pts · 43d (2 replies)

these glass spheres are sealed tho

MimicJar@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 43d (1 reply)

A bottle garden can also be sealed.

IAMgROOT@lemmy.wtf · 0 pts · 43d

this is way too small and undiverse to be an ecosystem, and a bottle garden only works because the springtails or other small animals inside produce co2, which is turned into oxygen by the plants or algae inside, and the cycle repeats over and over

The Rock was the basis for false descriptions of the Iraqi chemical weapons program. Britain's Secret Intelligence Service was led to believe Saddam Hussein was continuing to produce weapons of mass destruction by a false agent who based his reports on The Rock, according to the Chilcot Inquiry. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Rock_(film)

Time is a flat circle

Kolanaki@pawb.social · 60 pts · 43d (10 replies)

This is what the VX gas from The Rock came in.

The crazy thing is that VX gas is real, and what the movie shows it to do isn't even half as bad as what really happens.

wabafee@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 43d (9 replies)

What exactly VX gas does?

DeadDigger@lemmy.zip · 19 pts · 43d (3 replies)

It enters your body through your eyes mouth nose anus penis and skin then you start violently coughing then your lungs stop working due to your muscles not being innervated correctly than you asphyxiate pretty painfully under convulsions. You need to get between 86 μg to 10 mg by intake over the skin to die but other effects are like losing your eyesight or a running nose which can be also permanent and need way less of a dose and it takes about 5-10 hours after dermal contact for the first symptoms

ExLisper@lemmy.curiana.net · 7 pts · 43d (2 replies)

How much time do I have to inject the antidote directly into my heart?

InputZero@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 43d

Atropine, Pralidoxime, and Diazepam within 12 hours of a lethal dose should help a lot. This is assuming that the exposure is less than the ceiling limit or the IDHL limits cause at that point it doesn't matter anymore.

DeadDigger@lemmy.zip · 2 pts · 43d

You need Atropin 5 mg every 10 minutes the sooner the better. Further you need Obidoxim-chloride but this is tricky because the longer it takes for you to get it the higher the chance that symptoms are permanent or that you die. If you start to have breathing problems it's to late but it rly depends on yourself and the dosage when it will be to late. can be after an hour can be after 20.

impairedimperator@lemmy.zip · 9 pts · 43d (3 replies)

It turns off your muscles' ability to relax and then you flex to death. Normally because you're no longer breathing.

Zink@programming.dev · 8 pts · 43d

I have had adductor/hamstring leg cramps in the past that were gnarly enough that my muscles bled. Big deep bruises coming up from underneath that looked like I had a broken bone or something.

GoofSchmoofer@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 43d

"VXFLEX! a new full body workout!" Get the body to die for!

couldn't resist that stupid joke.

S_H_K@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 2 pts · 42d

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VX_(nerve_agent)
Is an oily amber substance not a green gas. Afaik gives you a painful spasm followed from the inability to operate any muscle diaphragm included so you get contracted then flacid and die from asfixia. If you happen to survive the sarcospasm you probably wouldn't get well anyway since the agent messes the nerve receptors forever. It can be absorbed by skin contact and the lethal dose is so low that some symptoms depicted in the wiki are more "supposed" or "by account" rather than a fact fun fact some teorize it would have been what Bruce Willis puts in his car in the movie the Jackal and kills the guy that touches it after. It acts in minutes and survival rate is almost non existent without the antidote...

For sure a better explenation than the corrupt guy getting the job because he's buddies with Trump, without any consideration for any other company, while he cuts corners and cheaps out on shit which ends up with a lowsy job. Suuuuure. The guy looks super trustworthy, and totally not like a Disney villain, so he must be doing a good job. I mean, Trump personally chose him, and Trump is a god so he cannot make bad decisions, he never ever did in his entire life, even molesting kids was a great decision... Right?.... Right? But by sabotaging the reflection pool, antifa will be able to win the fight against Trump and his fascist oligarchs. Yeah, this is what they came up with.

Anyone who believes this shit must have just enough braincells to be able to breath.

The desperation in covering up the lost war against Iran is now so pathetic, they might just release the Epstein files next.

Russia has been at war with Ukraine since 2019 and neither side has won. US has been at war with Iran and they lost within a few months. An illegal war started to cover up the Epstein files. Now a failed job of the reflection pool to cover up that lost war. The US keeps on amazing me they manage to find new lows.
