Glad it’s working for you, though.

ayyy@sh.itjust.works · 4 pts · 15h (19 replies)

Do you know how downdetector works? It’s not actually detecting anything, it’s 100% based on user reports.

People are making false reports to troll, and you’re taking the bait hook, line, and sinker.

jve@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 6h

Mm.

Probably should have led with that.

davidagain@lemmy.world · -2 pts · 11h (17 replies)

I think you're in denial.

ayyy@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 11h (9 replies)

Yes, I have been denying downdetector’s bullshit for coming on 20 years now because it’s been misleading people for that entire time.

Also, do you regularly use calling people gay as an insult? It’s a real shitbag homophobic move.

davidagain@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 10h

To be clear, I think you're in denial about the GOP conventions regularly causing issues with Grindr and the level of closetted man-on-man action in the famously hypocritical and deflecting Republican party. I have no idea about your sexuality, don't care what it is, and can't deduce that from what you're saying, but I'm concerned about your political affiliation.

davidagain@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 11h (7 replies)

Sure, buddy. GOP definitely doesn't have lots of repressed gay and bi people in it, because no right wing person would ever act hypocritically. You go ahead and believe whatever you want to believe about the RNC and grindr. Sorry to have upset you.

Smif_N_Lenin@piefed.social · 3 pts · 11h

No one claimed Grindr activity didn't increase, but it never went down

ayyy@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 9h

You’re completely missing what I’m ranting about. Don’t use downdetector, it’s worse than useless.

Smif_N_Lenin@piefed.social · 1 pts · 11h (6 replies)

Is Grindr also in denial?

davidagain@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 10h (5 replies)

No one claimed it went down globally. It is possible to have a regional issue with access. Could be the CDN or some DNS service got a bit overloaded and the GOP guys didn't get the dick they were seeking, but it's resolved now, so not to worry. They can always check later in the evening from their hotel room.

Smif_N_Lenin@piefed.social · 3 pts · 10h

Zos_Kia@jlai.lu · 30 pts · 1d (12 replies)

I discovered him when they tried to pretend he was zapping his dog on stream. It was an interesting sequence because apparently they targeted people engaged enough to believe a wall of text on Reddit or a video compilation on YouTube, but not engaged enough to actually watch his channel to check anything.

Obviously they found a large audience, but hey Hasan gained a follower I guess.

That’s how their entire canceled culture works.

The book bans are just lists of books that none of them have read too.

The_Terrible_Humbaba@slrpnk.net · -16 pts · 17h (10 replies)

This is the type of shit that makes the left looks ridiculous. He does zap his dog. He has literally shown the collar on cam (days after) but showing it has tape over it. He has literally been caught lying multiple times. You can see him, multiple times, reach for something off screen and his dog suddenly going back into place. There is a video of it happening and his dog suddenly yelping, which is what started this. "Her claw got caught": 1. Do you wish to buy a bridge? 2. He still barely gave a fuck, which is condemnable regardless. He also used to complain about his dog moving around before the "incident", instead of just laying in one spot.

Just because someone is a leftist it does not mean you should cover for them. That is cult like behaviour. Fuck Hasan, fuck animal abusers, and fuck people covering for animal abusers just because they are aligned politically.

Edit: There's also this older moment:

The_Terrible_Humbaba@slrpnk.net · -6 pts · 16h (3 replies)

My brother cultist in Christ, all the clips I mentioned were available on his channel as were the vods. Maybe they've been removed by now, but that is where I saw them. I literally used to be a Hasan viewer. You are in a cult.

Zos_Kia@jlai.lu · 12 pts · 15h

The whole thing is predicated upon him training her to sit still for hours on end on stream "like a prop", which she barely ever does. Litterally you just have to watch the VODs , you'd be lucky to find more than 10 minutes of her on-screen on most streams. The whole scenario is pure brainrot and only believable if you don't look critically at the evidence. So this guy used a shock collar to train a large dog to sit still for hours on end but there was only one (1) transgression ever recorded and she never sits still anyway. How do you square that up ?

You're grasping at a few seconds of video (out of the 6+ hours he produces daily year in year out), edited out of context by people with a very specific agenda, and walls of concern-trolling prose that tugs at your emotional strings for some reason. It's trivially easy to make up that kind of story and astro-turf it to death, with hundreds of inactive accounts coincidentally posting their first comment in the same week, which happens to be a copy-pasted list of pre-digested arguments and fact-free appeals to outrage. You're getting QAnon'd in the worst way.

I have seen that clip. I have seen evidence provided by accusation. Even collar company claimed that this was a shock collar. There is no denial that he did it. And yet people think cancel culture tries to cancel Hasan for no reason. Dude zaps his dog and we're jaut gonna blame cancel culture for telling the world this is jot the person to preach to us. Okay then 🤷

The_Terrible_Humbaba@slrpnk.net · -10 pts · 17h (1 reply)

You don't have to be it with me, but be intellectually honest with yourself for just a minute. Pretend we are talking about a right wing influencer.

You can see him, multiple times, reach for something off screen and his dog suddenly going back into place. There is a video of it happening and his dog suddenly yelping, which is what started this. He has literally shown the collar on cam (days after) but with tape over it. He has literally been caught lying multiple times.

Would you still defend the guy? Be honest with yourself.

Even if you don't want to believe he uses a shock collar, his treatment of her is still deplorable. He keeps the dog as a prop on Stream for hours on end. When she moves out of bed he will throw a hissy fit. He has even complained about her roaming around "like a cow". He only started letting her be more free after the controversy started. His guests have even mentioned her collar being too tight in the past.

Stop defending this dude.

Edit: I'll also add this (older) video of him with his dog Fish:

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FT8ucadGCVc

That is something he did blatantly on camera.

QueenHawlSera@piefed.social · 1 pts · 1h

Kya (I believe that's her name) yelped because she clipped her paw on something, there was no shock.

As for the Fish video, yeah he shouldn't have pulled the dog's tail, but he clearly didn't hurt him since the dog didn't yelp or anything.

So male Boomers became used to being catered to by a never ending parade of blonde Fox News hosts. Who would tell these spoiled bastards how they, the white men of the most economically priviledged generation in history, how they were the victims constantly. And how they should be outraged by that.

So the dopamine reactors of them are now wired to that. Then comes AOC. She's young, very pretty, and on the news - but she's NOT telling them that they're being discriminated against! In fact, her message is that they probably have MORE than their share.

So their brains, wired to have the horny with the outrage, basically go batshit.

I don't know who this guy is, or why MAGA is so obsessed by him. I've never heard one word from him, and don't even know where Id go to hear him, or see him, or whatever he does. He literally has no influence in my life, at all. I suspect MOST Democrats are like me, and I'm not even a Democrat.

As long as we allow MAGA to keep us on topics like this, we are LOSING. Whenever they bring up this guy, or trans, or Biden, or whatever their wedge issue Boogeyman of the day is, we need to ignore it, dismiss it, bat it away without a single comment about it, and steer the conversation to one of these topics:

Affordability (the big one, it got Trump elected, and it will get Dems elected even more)

Epstein Files: Full disclosure. Trump and his friends are in them

Data Centers: They will destroy everything, and we'll pay for it.

AI: The future is either a permanent 50%+ unemployment rate, or they murder all of humanity.

Flock Cameras: You will now get daily fines in your mailbox whenever you go 3 mph over the speed limit, and they will track you down and arrest you if you have overdue library books.

ICE: They will kill us, they are already doing it.

Taxing Sociopathic Oligarchs and their Corporations: They will pay their fair share of taxes, including on hidden wealth. If they won't disclose it, it will be heavily estimated.

Health Care: What health care?

Student Loan Reform: Sure, just saddle your most productive young citizens with a lifetime of debt as soon as the graduate from college. That won't ever affect the entire economy in a few years, when they can't afford ANYTHING.

MAGA Corruption: Were just going to let this continue like it's somehow legal?

The AmerIsraeliWar®: The Draft is coming. The front line of a war is a great place to siphon your dissidents.

Mass Surveillance: If you aren't doing anything illegal, then what are you worried about? What's illegal? EVERYTHING!

Investigations, Impeachments, Prosecutions of MAGA crime: A president, a Secretary of Defense, a White House Advisor, a bunch of Homeland security turds, a few SCOTUS justices, some congressmen and senators, etc.

These are the real issues, and we need to take control of every discussion, steer them to these issues, and make them defend their record, and their plans for America's future.

godsammitdam@lemmy.zip · 7 pts · 7h

Funnily enough, I think MAGA is driving more people to Hasan who don't know him like you. And, I mean, he shares those same opinions so 🤷‍♂️

MAGA is just obsessed with him because he's involved with DSA and they're trying to create an enemy to direct vitriol towards. In this case, it's the DSA who have had several candidates coming from the left of the Democrats win elections (almost like what they're running on is popular or something lol.) Being decentralized, they're trying to name a figurehead so they can demonize the org as a whole through a recognizable figure. Hasan, being a popular streamer, is who they picked seemingly because he was fairly left and said some very provocative things, especially out of context. That's the attempt at least.

Honestly, capitalism has done a better job at promoting socialism than socialism ever has. And this is kind of case in point lol. People that seek out this crazy radical watch him and recognize his ideas aren't radical. He wants everyone to have healthcare, to have access to education, to have their tax dollars go towards making everyone's lives better and not to forever wars and/or billionaires.

This tactic works on those who are uninformed. Those who seek information, it backfires massively.

BradleyUffner@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 14h (1 reply)

They don't like him because his name is HASSAN and criticizes Israel. That's it.

Alexfire@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 11h (1 reply)

Issue with affordability, is they blame Dems when not their fault, don't understand what president and congress can really do about affordability, so if not happy, they assume voting for the other one will fix. Last time they ignored the reasons for inflation, believed the propaganda, and said let's try maga again. Until the core issue of critical thinking is fixed, and understand how all this works, they will keep following the propaganda on the social feeds they sit and absorb, numb from the artificial scarcity they keep voting for or don't show up. They are too stressed from that to think and just mindlessly feed on the pacifying videos and graphics.

The Republican National Convention in Dallas, Texas, sparked an unexpected wave of online backlash and bewilderment on Wednesday after an image of progressive streamer Hasan Piker wearing underwear appeared on the venue’s massive jumbotron. While the move could’ve been an attempt by Republicans to attack Piker, it has nevertheless reignited certain allegations about the GOP, especially since the convention has once again coincided with the Grindr app crashing in Dallas from heavy usage.

they're trying to make blexas happen! https://t.co/rEwgtTnf7X

— hasanabi (@hasanthehun) September 9, 2026

The photograph was included in a narrated video shown during the Republican midterm convention, where Piker was featured alongside other clips attacking progressive politics and figures on the left. Rather than simply mocking Piker, however, the decision to use the particular photograph quickly became the subject of jokes across social media.

Piker himself appeared stunned when he saw the footage during his livestream. After pulling up the video, he reacted with disbelief and joked about the image being displayed at what he called “Trumpapalooza.”

He later posted about the moment on his social media accounts, joking that Republicans might actually help his political side by giving him the exposure, writing that they were “trying to make blexas happen.” Piker has notably supported Democratic Texas state Rep. James Talarico in his Senate campaign against Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.

People online are mocking the GOP convention instead

The image also prompted a flood of reactions from online commenters who questioned why Republicans selected a photograph that, in their view, could make Piker look more appealing rather than less. “Why would they choose a picture that makes him look good?” one commenter asked.

Another wrote, “They want him so bad,” while another joked that Republicans were “watching Hasan’s thirst traps and sharing amongst themselves.” The jumbotron image also became the setup for a series of jokes about an apparent Grindr outage reported in Dallas around the time the convention began. One commenter wrote that it was “the down bad detector,” while another joked about the number of people who would have to be online for Grindr to crash in Dallas.

Related: Texas Gov. Abbott Slammed After Targeting Hinojosa Over Transgender Policies: ‘Why are republicans obsessed with trans people?’

Some commenters focused on the decision to blur part of the photograph. “Are they blurring out his shorts because they’d otherwise go weak at the knees?” one person joked. Others simply described the stunt as strange. “Okay, this is getting too weird,” one commenter wrote, while another added, “Things are getting weird in Dallas.”

For many, the backlash has highlighted the unusual nature of the Republican convention. What appeared intended as an attack on one of the left’s prominent online personalities instead generated widespread discussion about the image itself, with many commenters arguing that the choice had unintentionally turned Piker into the center of attention.

So nowthe GOP is pissed because they aren't the only populists, the DNC is pissed because they might actually have to put in effort to get any electoral power, and the leftists are pissed because literally nothing can make them happy, and at the cemter of it all is a succeasful, rich, 6'5" himbo who streams 8 hours a day and has consistent messaging that might actually end up meaning something long term. Real easy target.

No I fully agree. I just got into a real shitfight with the 'leftists' who take it to the next step and just promote voter suppression, which is not the answer.

The DNC strategists, advisors, AIPAC-backed, 'let them hang themselves so we can just wait to win', all of them are culpable. We need to bring back defenestration for a lot of them. The fact that they spent all of their money in the PRIMARIES shows just how terrified they are of work and how effective and realistic a threat the populist, socialist left actually are.

Squirrelknight@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 12h (1 reply)

They'll do anything to make sure they don't have to get off their ass and ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING.

I swear, I've never seen a party that despise their own voters more than the Democratic party. Even the republicans at least TRY to appeal the their voters interest, even if that interest is mostly just bigotry and religious zealotry.

CardboardDecoy@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 11h

Right. R's have the advantage of appealing to the people who are so dedicated to authority that they can just lie to their face and the best response is 'why would he lie? He's wearing a suit!'

Dem's used to have that advantage in the 90's but didn't have the stomach for real work, which ultimately is how they bled their own weakness into the open air to target and it ended up being genocide of the Gazans that laid it out for all to see

Tollana1234567@lemmy.today · 1 pts · 1h

well you see some of the dems were actually DINOS, really republicans that was electable as dems but not as republicans, now you have to issue of how many of them support the MIC-israel pipeline, which funnels money back to the same Dinos. AIPAC/ICE/flock has pretty much exposed which ones are not trulely progressive. schumer, slotkin, fetterman, HAKEEM dozens of both houses have no interest in moving to the left, they are in fact trying to stall for Trump to do enough damage , so they can say they "tried thier best"

Tollana1234567@lemmy.today · 1 pts · 1h

covering for trumps-epstein files, which is pretty much what it is plus. the amount of "more progressives" is getting the GOP nervous too, because it breaks their illusion GOP-DINO hold on congress.

Oh no what's he running for I guess I won't vote for him 😂

Republicans are the worst kind of pervert: They not just lie about their attractions, they abuse the people that interest them.

MAGAts love this kind of stuff.

Dude should be selling GOP yard signs, bumper stickers, and flags with that image on it immediately with all of the proceeds going to the Talarico campaign and some charity the GOP hates. Would probably make a fortune and be a hilarious thing to say the GOP is backdoor funding everything they hate.

JFC. Last week, my therapist asked me if I knew who Hasan Piker was... it was surrreal... like the internet broke containment and entered real life.

I'm in therapy for stress and anger management... sometimes politics comes up. My therapist is a middle aged wine mom from the suburbs who literally has one of those "Coexist" bump stickers on her Toyota Prius. I told her I disagreed with him on some stuff, but that I'm probably not his audience. She told me she was watching more of his clips on YouTube. I didn't know what to say to that.

Earthwormjim91@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 57m

The internet broke containment a decade ago my friend. The internet is real life now.

Tollana1234567@lemmy.today · 1 pts · 54m

hasans fanbase are mostly fangirls, so im not surprise, and hes closer the therapist age than his audience.

SwissArmyKazoo@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 20h (2 replies)

Boo Yah That'll show those puny libtards?????

(said in a verbalism of confusion and aggravation in order to invoke the ill conceived discourse)

Jokes aside Hasan Piker is actually a immensely sexy dude.

I'd smash!

Tollana1234567@lemmy.today · 1 pts · 1h

that is why his fans are most fangirls.

Bluescluestoothpaste@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 11h

He abuses animals, he's an extremely unsexy piece of shit

I remember when Trump first came onto the scene and one of the things he was really good at was monopolizing all the attention. I really wonder if all this attention on figures like Hassan is just playing into their hands. After all, they do say that there is no such thing as bad publicity

Tollana1234567@lemmy.today · 1 pts · 53m

just like with luigi, zohran, el-sayad and others. thats why the MSMs had to quickly shut that down to avoid giving them too much exposure.

hasan? the guy who abused his dog with a shock collar?

democrats are going to be very upset when they find out he's just as shitty as republicans.

Objection@lemmy.ml · 6 pts · 12h

I would let him put me in a shock collar 🥺

BradleyUffner@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 13h (5 replies)

Yes, the guy who isn't a perfectly perfect saint, who has never done anything remotely wrong in his entire life.

Bluescluestoothpaste@sh.itjust.works · -3 pts · 11h (1 reply)

Omg stop it, we all have our flaws but this guy is an animal abusing piece of shit and there's no reason to know he exists. Omg he criticizes israel, literally everyone here on lemmy does that that's not a virtue.

GreenKnight23@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 7h

when the barest minimum is the highest bar, even the worst piece of shit looks like a brownie.

GreenKnight23@lemmy.world · -5 pts · 12h (2 replies)

sorry. I said he abused his dog, but it was the hasan that said America deserved 9/11. oh wait, that was "just a joke".

maybe it was the hasan that downplayed sexual assault crimes and blamed victims instead? bet he was joking about that too.

you know, I'm starting to think that with all the jokes hasan says he might be a clown.

edit: why all the downvotes people? are you upset because your perception of him as a great leader is being challenged or do you support his message that rape and murder is ok?

Wakmrow@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2h

I don't agree with piker on a number of things but it's an absurd claim that he shocked his dog lol

Objection@lemmy.ml · 1 pts · 10h

Oh, it's definitely because I support his message that rape and murder are OK. As a Satanic Islamocommunist who wants to force everyone share the same toothbrush, follow Shakira Law, and to force all children to trans their genders, when I heard that Hasan kicks puppies and wants to drown orphans, I was like, "Hell yeah! Now this is a guy I can get behind!"
