Hackers. Yes, it's corny - cheesy, even - but it had a great cast with awesome chemistry, and it did a great job at capturing the zeitgeist of hacker/punk culture. Plus so many memorable quotes...
CLI + VR and specially GPUs to be able to hack in those UI... For a moment while watching Superman (2025) I had those flashbacks (Luthor's employees in fight scenes).
Marathon Man [Dustin Hoffman, Lawrence Olivier] seems to have been designed for multiple viewings. A character seen briefly in one scene turns up later in the movie. A quick telephone call becomes incredibly important but you have to be paying close attention to every minute.
Sometimes my friends and I just sit around quoting it until we've made it through the entire movie, so maybe there's no point in rewatching it, but we do anyway.
I never like to retread old ground, but this one's an exception. It's hard to overstate how much it blew our minds 26 years ago. I might have a soft spot for it too because I was raised sheltered and it was the first rated R movie I saw.
It's a shame they didn't make any sequels. The creators probably decided it was a complete story rather than milk it to death like Star wars. Guess that's for the best!
I know they say it has nothing to do with them and their transitioning... but nothing can change my mind on how the whole movie can be seen as a struggle to choose who you really are...
Nearly every single line in that movie that Jim Carrey delivers is not only funny but his delivery and antics are a work of art. It's like watching Messi dribble the soccer ball. Cary ewles gets an honorary mention for playing the straightman and absolutely killing it.
Well, way better then No Child of Mine(1997). As I'm a victim of child abuse (although not sexual), it really screwed with me. But if you're in a decent mood, I would recommend it.
As an oldster, I notice that almost all of the movies listed here are more than 20 years old. Most of the cultural references on Lemmy are much more recent than that.
I like to shut my brain off and have simple entertainment that doesnât require much thinking during watching watch time.
My favourite movie of all time is Enemy 2013 and Black Swan but these are movies that go under your skin and everytime I watch them I have to go into spirals of overthinking etc while the above mentioned movies donât give me that.
Style kinda shat on substance with this one. I didn't feel like it was unwatchable, but the parts where they synchronized gunfire to music felt excessive.
I must have seen Old School at least twenty times.
It was pretty much the perfect movie before streaming services existed and you were too lazy to go to the video store or P2P-download another movie because you'd rather hang out on your friends' couch and smoke weed all day.
Most Villenueve movies are very rewatchable for me. Sicario, BR2049, Arrival, and the Dune films. Others like Incendies, Enemy, and Prisoners not as much, not because they are bad, but because they are pretty heavy to be watched repeatedly.
Huh. Haven't ran across that expression before. Halloween was always queer, I thought. (Dress up and be whoever you want to be, etc.) Halloween and happy fireworks day are my favorite holidays.

My favourite movie of all time is Enemy 2013 and Black Swan but these are movies that go under your skin and everytime I watch them I have to go into spirals of overthinking etc while the above mentioned movies donât give me that.

I must have seen Old School at least twenty times.
It was pretty much the perfect movie before streaming services existed and you were too lazy to go to the video store or P2P-download another movie because you'd rather hang out on your friends' couch and smoke weed all day.

Most Villenueve movies are very rewatchable for me. Sicario, BR2049, Arrival, and the Dune films. Others like Incendies, Enemy, and Prisoners not as much, not because they are bad, but because they are pretty heavy to be watched repeatedly.
