Picking isn't really an option when it comes to Abloy disc detainer locks as you need a custom built device to pick it along with the skills to use it. However, anyone can just break the window and open the door from inside which is why I'm not particularly worried. That and the fact that I barely own anything worth stealing in the first place.
I'm not sure a video of someone successfully picking an Abloy disc detainer lock is good evidence for the claim that picking isn't really an option when it comes to Abloy disc detainer locks.
I'll grant that picking them is difficult, but cloning keys for them from photos is probably also more difficult than common pin tumbler locks.
Perhaps you're not aware of who that "someone" in the video was but if it takes close to 4 minutes for him to pick a masterkeyed lock containing "dissapointing discs" by using a custom built tool, then that's unpickable lock to 99.999% of people.
I know who LockPickingLawyer is, and I know that disc detainer locks are hard to pick.
My point is that cloning keys from pictures also requires specialized equipment (or a file and a very high level of skill). The only real exception is standardized keys someone might recognize like the Ford fleet key. Those used to come up in an Amazon search for "police car key".
Pretty much this. But it's a 600lm headlight (petzl) to keep hands free, and the knife is an carbon steel (opinel) which are much, much sharper than rvs.
Carbon steel isn't inherently sharper than stainless. It's just easier to get sharp. In the case of Opinel, much of why it cuts so well is due to the single bevel grind on the blade which makes the apex incredibly thin.
Mostly just my phone. I don't need keys because my implants let me open doors at home and at work, and I don't need a payment card because I also have a payment implant.
The only minor danger I was afraid of was being unable to go through MRI machines with those of my implants that have a ferrite core - i .e. small glass implants. But it turns out, they're completely unaffected - at least up to 2T, which was the strongest MRI field I went through. They do warp the MRI scan pretty badly around them though 🙂
Implants usually involve a scalpel to get in and out of you - unless they're small injectable glass implants like those for pets, in which case it's just a small jab to implant it.
Did you put that in yourself? It doesn't look like a small needle. Did you get a glow or light up one? How do you keep the information safe? Sorry, so many questions. And it's a lot cheaper than I was thinking.
Not a lot, my pockets are tiny. Currently I have one tissue.
My handbag/rucksack, however:
A wallet
A carabiner
Paracetamol
Travel sickness chewing gum
A fold up shopping bag with cats and dogs on it
Loops ear plugs
Documents the hospital gave me
Sunglasses
Glasses cleaning cloth
Tiny snacks
Hand sanitizer
Ear buds
A bottle of water
A bag of googly eyes 👀
My passport
Actually, it's probably the reverse; When new it's rated as waterproof down to 10m depth. Volvo calls it the "sports key".
However, the battery is only rated for 3 years, and it's not possible to change the battery without voiding the warranty, and having a new key programmed and shipped costs 500 USD equivalent.
But I'm a DIY cheapskate who voids warranty for a living, so I tore it up. It wad a standard 2032 cell, so I soldered o a new one and filled the fob with epoxy, and now it works again. I just don't trust it to be as waterproof anymore.
I always keep it in my jeans, and it hasn't failed me so far.
I haven't needed it yet, but I still bring one of the proper key fobs for longer drives such as vacation or work trips.
Probably because the charging circuitry would make the electronics inside bigger, and a rechargeable cell has a massively reduced capacity compared to a primary cell. The electronics package is tiny, and the battery itself is by far the biggest component. I think it makes sense to keep it semi-single-use with those factors in mind.
In fact, I've considered 3d printing a new shell for it to make it even tinier and definitely water proof.
Messenger bag. I don't like carrying stuff in the pockets of my pants, jackets etc., especially sharp and heavy-ish things like keys, and I like keeping lots of stuff on me when I leave my home.
The unrelenting dread and fear of something horrifying and terrible happening to the ones I love.
The lingering resentment and intense loathing towards an ex spouse who abused me daily for almost 15 years.
Dead Tamagotchi from 1998 to remind myself of my failures as a caregiver.
The ever-evolving concept for a music album that perfectly encapsulates my life experiences, from the good to the awful, and what they’ve taught me about myself.
Left cargo pocket - two small hand sanitizer bottles one of which contains unscented hand soap, a touch screen stylus (sometimes I wear warm gloves while shopping due to a freezing cold cart handle)
So many things. That is why I go everywhere with my messenger bag...
Must have:
Phone
Wallet
Napkins (I guess they are called like that? The things to wipe your nose)
House keys
Car keys
Always have:
Keys of my partner's house
Emergency sewing kit
Wine opener
Lighter (I don't smoke but I find it useful)
Small power bank
3 cables (usb-c, micro usb, Garmin watch cable)
Cellphone, keys, wallet, and my heart and soul that my daughter gave me when she was 3 (small pink plastic heart and a pearly marble; 7+ years now, leaving them out only when doing something where I might lose them).
I'm a photo nerd. Uhhh... keys, flashlight, swiss army knife, phone, pocket camera (Ricoh GR III), wallet. If I go anywhere I usually pick up a bigger camera (Nikon Z fc, or if I get serious, the D780, with 50mm / 24-120mm / 70-300mm lenses). There's also a whole lot of random mystery stuff in my bags. I don't want to think about that stuff too much, I'll just get a headache
Daily: Wallet, phone, house key with folding reading glasses and pill container on the chain, car key (separate because I don't like the way the key chain brushes my knee while I drive with everything attached), a couple of those plastic flossers in a baggy, lens wipes.
Often but not quite daily: "AAA" sized penlight, small pocket knife w/ screwdriver and scissors, and multipliers.
Top left: phone
Bottom left: tissues if I'm going hiking
Back left: nothing
Top right: keys, pocketknife, lighter
Bottom right: leash, roll of dog shit bags
Back right: wallet
Clipped to belt, under waistband, right side: Sig Sauer p365 x-macro
Mobile phone, tissue papers are always there.
Rest are occasional, wallet/card, keys, sunglasses, optical glasses. Most of my stuff is in a backpack and pockets are generally rather empty.
I ALWAYS bring my sunglasses with me, it doesn’t matter what the weather is, because if it gets sunny while I’m out, I need them to see because my blue eyes are hypersensitive, basically making it painful to open my eyes outside.
Knife, taser, bulletproof backpack insert, laptop and charger, battery pack, water, compass, water purifier drops, small ocarina, granola bars, tin cup, fire starter, local maps, notebook and pencils, sharpies, light jacket, extra socks, hiking towel, first aid kit, floss, deodorant...
In my pockets, my keys (including a NitroKey for accessing my passwords), which are literally chained to my trousers, my phone and a little towel the size of a handkerchief.
I also carry a little, what to call it, pochette? It's a little carrying thing around the size of my hand, that is either clipped to the strap of my messenger bag or carried on its own with a shoulder strap. It contains my passport, public transit pass, bank pass, just-in-case-cash, pen, mechanical pencil, cloth for wiping glasses, and a folded ecobag.
As for the messenger bag, it contains a carbon steel folding umbrella, which folds down to around the size of a glasses case and is very light, a larger ecobag, notebook, headphones, a bunch of USB cables and adapters, a USB memory stick, and a teeny-tiny nail clipper. Not for actually clipping my nails, but you know how sometimes a little triangle of skin around the corner of a nail gets loose and all hard and annoying? It's for that sole purpose. Also, I typically carry the bag when traveling a longer distance (like my commute to work), so there's usually a book and a 3DS in there.
Phone, wallet which includes ID, a disposable card (to open doors if someone forgets the keys inside), cheap wired hearbuds (in case I forget my headphones), a flash drive, transport pass, a debit card with 8 euros balance, and 3 euros cash.
On my neck:
Headphones
I sometimes also bring my camera bag:
Camera body, 2 lenses, field recorder, dead cat and extra batteries.
Phone, daily note book, pen, and sometimes keys. We also usually carry a bag with our 3ds, meds, umbrella, sometimes a water depend gore long were out, battery bank and a couple reusable bags.
And my phone? It's in my messenger bag with the few other stuff I don't constantly need or want to have on me at all time: my glasses (most of the time, I'm wearing them but I carry the box-thingy to store them), a notebook + a pen, some book(s), an umbrella, or a cap or something to cover my bald head when I need to, a pair of sunglasses too when it's shining outside. Stuff like that.
Wallet, phone, earbuds and my swipecard when im outside. Nothing interesting unfortunately.
In my bag i carry toothbrush, toothpaste, razor, shampoo and conditioner, soap because i like to freshen up and shower if ive got something important on that day. Otherwise i just roll into work like a fucking bum.
I got this wierd little multitool that is a fire starter, knife sharpener, and whistle and my keychain is a actual carbiner and I use one for my keys and one for my wallet so I have two on me generally. I do not climb though so not like I could use them in any real way but you know if I ever get stranded with someone more skilled than I it all might come in handy.
Always a folding blade, phone in my side pocket and a simple wallet in front pocket, sometimes my ccw although now that I'm full time at the office the firearm is in a lockbox under my driver's seat.

Back pocket: phone and vape, sometimes wallet if I don’t need my purse
Front pocket: knife and lighter while praying that they don’t fall out because women’s pants pockets are stupid and shitty

A pair of foam earplugs. I sometimes encounter annoyingly loud air curtains where I work.
Also handy for bathrooms with those deafening Dyson hand botherers.

Jacket pockets: phone, gloves, an id, emergency cash.
Daily: my backpack, which has so much mildly useful shit in it that it's pointless listing here.

House keys. Phone. Poo bags. Dog treats. That's pretty much it.
Car keys if I'm driving anywhere.
