Dig through James Dobson's prodigious backlog of public brainfarts or poke around in the Joe Pyne archives, you'll find similar sentiments and commentary.
Anything that gives a person undeserved pleasure is sinful. And the Protestant Work Ethic teaches us that only productive economy-stimulating labor is a worthwhile pursuit. Sex is a job, not a hobby. You do it to make the babies, not to experience any kind of corporeal pleasure.
That falls under the "Very Rich Guy's Addendum" to the Protestant Work Ethic. If you're rich, it proves you worked harder than everyone else and none of the working class rules apply.

I picked up a fascinating book about Shaker furniture and architecture at a thrift store a while ago. Their religious ideals led to some extremely functional designs of furniture and structures that honestly can still be useful today. For example, Shaker chairs are designed with extra tall backs to be able to be hung up on the wall to make it easy to sweep underneath them when cleaning
I've seen a theory that the shakers were specifically founded by a handful of aromantic/asexual folks and basically built a community for aro/ace folk before any acknowledgement of these concepts existed. Given their views on equality and functionality it does not take much of a leap of the imagination to see how such a community could form from a bunch of autistic aro/ace folks in a period when any of those characteristics would make it difficult to survive

If you've grown up in these communities, you know that what you say in public (especially on TV) is totally different from what you do at home and behind closed doors.

When you're first introduced to the culture, its hard to realize that everyone is lying constantly. But the longer you live in the miasma of deceit and bullshittery, the easier it is to recognize that nothing these people say is for anything other than appearances. You should know better than to believe them. They don't really expect you to believe them (and periodically express frustration when you can't catch a fucking hint and play along). Why is western civilization so focused on diversity when its definitely not like that in other countries. Think like Japan, middle east, Africa, south America... no one is clamoring for diversity there. White people aren't invited anywhere, but we're supposed to invite the whole world to come intermingle, live and dilute any culture we still have left? Is it some sort of racial guilt that whites feel like they have to atone for? Are white countries prone to superiority complexes? It's wild to me how different some people's lives go. I suspect him and I would find each other's lives equally unimaginable to see ourselves in.
And yeah I've always suspected a lot of the anti sex conservatives are on the ace spectrum or have some sexual trauma that manifests by suppression of desire, and completely lack the self awareness to not force their lack of desire onto others. Especially amongst asexual conservative men, who feel that not wanting women is emasculating and so they moralize and project. They make sex entirely about power or reproduction. It's easier than getting themselves and their peers to decouple masculinity from heterosexuality.

Ironically, that kinda is what he said. The meme is misrepresenting what he actually said, for some reason. Without getting too deep into it, he basically said that sex that wasnt for the express purpose of making babies, was "gay sex". The mention of orgasms, was in relation to this. Not about his wife, or about not giving your wife orgasms. Just that having sex only to have orgasms was "gay sex".

See there's a problem here. My philosophy is that she gets off. No matter how hard I work at it. However I can't just go up and tell women this.
I thought I couldn't date hot women because of my appearance. So they'd never find out my philosophy.
It actually turns out I can't date hot women, especially hot women like this, because hot and intelligent are uncorrelated (not positively or negatively, just no correlation). This woman, in particular (assuming that's his wife) is physically attractive, but given her choice of partner, is clearly unable to think. Why the fuck would I be sexually attracted to someone who can't think.
Which explains why I don't even bother following up. The slightest hint of stupid makes them unattractive. So it's not my appearance, is it? It's something else that's wrong with me. I'm like biologically elitist.
