It's a tough one honestly, because you never know if its someone that's generally a considerate person but had to park for an emergency.. Or if it's just a general asshole on a standard day.
Judging by the car make and model though (all black Tesla), I'd lean towards the latter.
Well, I would imagine someone in emergency would at very least leave emergency lights on. I'm assuming OP wouldn't time the picture so they don't show up.
would be annoying for the tesla owner if whoever bumped into the car had no identifying features or clothes, so the car cameras can't be used to identify the person
Neither does giving your money to buy a car that owns you and your data, supporting a sociopath psycho rapist.
And, you can't fight something unreasonable with reason. You fight it with whatever uses the least energy, because douchebags are not worthwhile to fight fairly or morally.
I won't be held to high moral standards while fighting another guy with no standards at all.
Indeed. I like that someone actually brought up invoking local road authority. It's unfortunate that many places don't have a decent mechanism for that, and we need it badly.
I called parking enforcement on this one. Right in front of the job site drive. We don't come here everyday, but when we do, it'd be nice to be able to pull in. They called me when they got to the car and asked if I wanted it toed. I said that they do it all the time but just give a warning, because it's the first time I've called. Next time, it's gone.
Nicer than I would have been. I would have told them hell yeah, please tow it. I don't think people should get a "freebie" for something this egregious.
Walk over it. Even if it's filmed, they are in a crosswalk what would come of that? Get some friends to do the same. If they don't want their car walked on, don't park on the crosswalk.
I like this one. If you are flexible/ athletically inclined, just climb all over it, drag your stuff across it, stomp over the roof or the hood real hard, maybe take a moment and stamp the water or mud off your boots, etc.
Sorry, just thought the car was part of the crosswalk. You didn't actually intend to park there, did you? It's a crosswalk. People are going to walk there, of course. Why would you park there, it's illegal! This is on you.
Wait, that's a real country? I thought it was an elaborate set for the tv show Aqui No Hay Quien Viva. They made a whole other fucking language for it too.
No idea but if I woke up and saw I was abruptly in this area, I'd assume it's Spain. Mainly because that's the country I've been to a few times in the last few years that looks like this.
I'd definitely be calling a couple of my wheelchair bound brothers. I'm sure they'd be up for seeing how fast they could crash into it... Maybe not all of them but Dave would, Dave would absolutely ram right into it multiple times (he really doesn't like not having access to a crosswalk).
We had a car (ours) on the street for a while in front of our house. Whatever glue they use on the enforcement notices that the police placed on it is unreal - very hard to get all of it off without using a blade.
I would think wow that's terrible parking, and would wonder if they'll get a ticket from somebody who makes a living putting tickets on improperly parked cars.
Buy a roll of those stickers they put on products that is basically impossible to remove without ripping it and always leaves behind adhesive residue. See how much you can cover.
Presumably, you'd buy one when you buy the stickers.
Also, bruh, it's 2026. There's flock cameras everywhere, ICE roaming the streets, fascists in control of the goverment... you should probably carry a ski mask when you go out and about.
Pick up your two 20 lb sledgehammers by the end of their handles.
Then just walk across the obviously open cross walk without looking while swinging the hammers as hard as you can. If you encounter any obstacles, back up 5 feet and try again.
Are you stupid or are you unable to interpret meaning that doesn't use the words you would have chosen? Oh, do I stop my car in a parking lot or do I park my car? Wtf.
There used to be a website called You Park Like An Asshole that had pre-designed flyers you could attach to cars like this and other such infractions of, uh, good parking etiquette, if not also laws.
Looks like the site is dead, and either way, the other comments suggest this is in a country where the primary language isn't English so their flyers wouldn't be as useful.
... but it doesn't mean that you can't design your own in the local language and shove it under their windscreen wiper. Bonus points for putting it in a sticky-backed plastic envelope. You know. The things that parking tickets usually get put in.
Or put bleach in a water balloon. Will fuck the paint up if they don't remove it quickly and they might not notice their car got bleached bombed until it's too late.
Edit: on second thought, Vienna where i live has an app where you can report stuff like this. Second alternative, call the cops to tow the illegally parked car which is a pretty expensive way to learn that you can't park there.
I crawl over them and go on with my day. It has resulted in some angry people and police called on me once, but the officer fined the driver for crossing the stopline (it wasn’t a parked car, they were stopped for red) and told me to not do it again.
Wait is this Portugal? If I was walking the zebra crossing I would have just walked over the car.
Also if you call the police they will tow the car, fine the owner, and even if they come to move it before the tow truck arrives, they still have pay for it in addition
Go back to my home and start a government petition to legalise pedestrians carrying rocket-propelled grenade launchers to better handle situations like this
I ordered a pack of about a hundred business cards with "YOU OARKED LIKE AN IDIOT" on one side and a list of checkboxes with reasons on the other. Qould probably stick a couple of these at several points around the car
When I worked in printing, we made stickers of similar wording, hard as fuck to get off without ripping, bright neon green color. Would put them right above the door handle on the glass.
I dont think the police would care that much if I called them about an improperly parked car. I'd call them anyways and use my best Sheldon Cooper impression and make a huge deal out of it.
I'm not a European myself, but when I visit France this is too common to even remark upon to my wife. I don't know why they don't ticket them, or maybe they do and it's not a concern?
Last time I was in Paris, I saw a bakery delivery van pull into an intersection, guy switched to reverse and rammed his way into the head car in a line of cars until there was enough room for him to get 3/4 his van into the street parking. The next three cars behind him were now touching.
One thing that has always sent me into an absolute rational rage is cunts in cars blocking sidewalks and pedestrian passageways.
and now that I have family in wheelchairs and on walkers, that rational rage has become about 30x more intense, to the point that I have to physically stop myself from bricking their windshields.
I find interesting how everything in that picture looks familiar even though it is another country. The crosswalks, the street sign, the style of the buildings, the alarm placard. Is that a dentist clinic?
You could say it was taken near my house and I would believe it if not because of the car plates.
I just want to say to anyone who says "key this car" - it very likely has a camera running once you come close enough to it, so if the camera gets your face or other identifiable information, you can be held liable.
The problem with that is that the first tire tech who responds to the flats, will spot the missing valve stems, and replace rhem. It also takes a lot of time to do it.
The better move is to just unscrew the caps, and drop a BB in the cap and screw it back on. The BB will press slightly on the valve stem, and cause a slow leak. The tire tech will search and search for the source, but he's unlikely to look in the cap, and he probably won't notice the BB in the cap anyway, so it will become an ongoing problem.
Lol I work in a shop, and while I'm not saying your wrong I would like to share a story. Had a customer get towed in, they were driving and got a flat. AAA came and swapped their spare on for them, shortly after they got another flat. Being out of spares they had it towed to the shop. 2 flats in one day same corner 2x in a row u got any guesses? Well when I get to it I notice the spare has a chunk knocked out of the inside of the wheel. I go to take the flat off and surprise! Fucking chunk out of the other wheel. 2 wheels with holes right through them! Caliper lost the lower bolt, so under braking it would pivot up on the upper bolt and wedge into the aluminum wheel so hard it blew a hole in it and locked up that corner. AAA came and swapped that wheel without going "hey ur fucking brakes are falling off" so I sort of doubt they will notice a missing valve stem lol. AAA also totaled my Audi last time they towed it with a single wheel strap and it let loose on the roll back, so I have VERY little faith in the roadside guys seeing anything lol.
Yea honestly I don't blame them, their not paid to give a fuck. AAA responders get something ridiculous like 50 bucks a call, half the time their practically losing money to respond. plus every time I have used them it has been multiple hours wait. I cancelled AAA after the "mediator" tried to tell me to eat it when their operator totaled my car, to which I had to get the DOT numbers off the flatbed and chase their insurance my damn self. Id rather properly pay an honest tow company that actually cares lol. That experience left a REAL sour taste in my mouth.
Better hope u don't have any troubles because the mediators will do everything they can to leave you holding the bag. He and the tow company owner both told me I cannot force them to go through insurance. To their dismay I fucking did! Car totaled out and got my 8 grand back, tow company only offered me 2500 which doesn't even cover the reiger body kit it had on, nevermind the ac condenser it burst releasing freon into the atmosphere, the radiator it knocked the bottom out of or the oil coolers it wrecked that dumped all manner of fluids all over the place. I had a rotten experience and I recognize that's not the norm, but how the company handled it told me all I needed to know!
Two days ago, our favorite plummers sent a dude who botched the job so badly. I smiled and paid the $4hundred plus bill. 8 am next morning I called the office and explained the job was botched. They sent out an experienced plumber who rolled his eyes and apologized immediately. He said he would redo all the work and hire an electrician to handle that part of their disaster and all would be paid by them.
Next day all was made right.
Guess I share that by way of saying, if I had cut them off then and there… I wouldn’t have gotten to see them make right…
And… thumbing that out… I have made your point: you gave AAA every opportunity to make right and they didn’t.
If it's a hot day, I rub my genitals on the windscreen. Really get a nice smearing action on that glass. Then I leave a note saying I did what I did because they parked like an arsehole.
Shit on the bonnet, shit on the roof, shit on the side mirrors, shit on the windows, shit on the trunk, shit on the tires, shit on the door handles, shit on the windscreen wipers and shit inside of the exhaust pipe
I was the car behind him the other day. Except it was a truck or SUV, like an Escalade or something. You know, those guys who think they own the road. The funny thing is, they had just run a red light in front of me. They didn't beat the yellow, either. It was red when they got there. They just decided the red light was only for the working folks. Fortunately they didn't get hit crossing. Got a few horns though. So I thought it was funny as hell that I rolled up behind them at the next stop. They were the first one there, and they rolled just past the line right onto the crosswalk. Absolutely tracked for how they'd been driving.
Maybe I could have downloaded the dashcam video and posted it somewhere, but I'm not a rat. The cops will catch this guy eventually. I don't need to be a part of it. People bitch about the cost of the ticket, but they don't realise they're not just paying for the one time they got caught, they're paying for all the times they didn't. That they didn't get away with it and now the bill has come due. That's what their saved time was worth. If it's too much, maybe next time they'll just leave earlier, drive safer. If it's not... they won't learn.
Have some dark fantasies, but probably not do anything about it. If I did see someone damaging the car or the owner, I don't know what you're talking about.
And they should be indicated that this was a clear and obvious mistake.
It's not something you can do just because you didn't notice. It's a deliberate choice to break the rules and be an arse for everyone around. This should not be tolerated, unless you want it to repeat at scale.
It's against the law, so they would get a ticket. Not sure what warrants any further outrage. It could be a mistake, it could be an ass. Who knows, who cares.
"They would get a ticket" is very much not guaranteed. We need proper reporting tools for such things everywhere, and proper response to repeated offense.
I'm glad it doesn't inconvenience you, but some people aren't that lucky. Wheelchair users, for example, often need to use the ramps at the ends of crosswalks. People who park like this are inconsiderate assholes that don't care about anyone else, and the outrage is justified.

Remove the valve stem cores, reinstall valve caps. Have fun with ur random flats for the next week.
BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today · 8 pts · 68d

AAA also totaled my Audi last time they towed it with a single wheel strap and it let loose on the roll back, so I have VERY little faith in the roadside guys seeing anything lol.

innermachine@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 67d
Yea honestly I don't blame them, their not paid to give a fuck. AAA responders get something ridiculous like 50 bucks a call, half the time their practically losing money to respond. plus every time I have used them it has been multiple hours wait. I cancelled AAA after the "mediator" tried to tell me to eat it when their operator totaled my car, to which I had to get the DOT numbers off the flatbed and chase their insurance my damn self. Id rather properly pay an honest tow company that actually cares lol. That experience left a REAL sour taste in my mouth.

Decades long membership. Zero trouble. Many saves. Worth it.
innermachine@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 67d
Better hope u don't have any troubles because the mediators will do everything they can to leave you holding the bag. He and the tow company owner both told me I cannot force them to go through insurance. To their dismay I fucking did! Car totaled out and got my 8 grand back, tow company only offered me 2500 which doesn't even cover the reiger body kit it had on, nevermind the ac condenser it burst releasing freon into the atmosphere, the radiator it knocked the bottom out of or the oil coolers it wrecked that dumped all manner of fluids all over the place. I had a rotten experience and I recognize that's not the norm, but how the company handled it told me all I needed to know!
wowwoweowza@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 67d
