Russians also describe 1990s Russia as an economic wasteland where all of Russia's wealth and resources were gathered up by oligarchs. So yeah, pretty apt analogy.
In the 1980s, Trump always made Spy magazine's "Top 10 Worst People, Places or Things" list. His one "mitigating factor" was always "at least he's not in politics".
A useful idiot still needs to be able to do things for you, win over the right people, set the tone of the room, be the distraction. If the useful idiot goes off of the rails, stops being taken seriously at all, you're left with just an idiot. They're worried they lost the useful part
The Republicans never really had control of him. I think they fear him dying on them and them not been able to hold MAGA together without his unique brand of genuine crazy.

Jebus. This sounds like the AI psychosis spiral.
Like, I didn't think trump was smart enough to use AI. He can't read.
He must have found one that talks to him. And feeds everything he says to his rusky handlers.
He's got dementia and he confabulates. He's probably had it starting in like 2016 and this term they are trying to not to make him angry so they just show him shit he wants to see.
Did you see that video of him talking to an AI Roosevelt and the dumb fuck was actually talking back to the AI thinking he was actually talking to Teddy. Absolute buffoonery.
He's elderly, ill, and has dementia, on top of the fact that he may very well be the dumbest human to walk the earth in several millennia, this is not news to anyone.
That's what's blowimg my mind. Yeah he's old, demented, has always been surrounded by dumb yes men. But even putting that aside, he's just as dumb as a sack of rocks. Always has been.
Its said he used to be quite charming and manipulative, so its not really stupidity. I think he may have a personality disorder. His choices often aren’t contemplated, but rash and emotional.
There’s also a pattern to his actions. Absolutely none of his decisions seem to be governed by empathy, morality, ideology, strategic national interests or even long term personal interests. Instead, nearly all his actions seem impulsive and emotional, aimed at satisfying his short term personal need for gratification, admiration or payback.
His frequent tantrums, his impulsive decision making, his inability to maintain composure, his inability to maintain professional relationships, together they all point to some sort of mental illness.
I've known someone else a bit like this, where he seemed "stupid" - found it very difficult to learn traditional academic subjects - but he was top notch at manipulation, and had an uncanny knack for guessing what people wanted in any given scenario.
You can't be truly dumb and successfully manipulate the majority of people you meet. Put another way, people who are as limited as he seems - find it very difficult to understand people and get what they want/need from them.
Didn't one of his former teachers call him the dumbest student he'd ever taught? Yes he's good at manipulation but he quite literally hasn't got any kind of a objective.
Children learn about the concept of delayed gratification by about five, it looks like trump never met this developmental milestone.
This doesn't contradict what I'm saying, but maybe you didn't intend to. The person I knew well and was describing would be described even worse by his own teachers - in fact his teachers insisted he go into classes catering to kids with severe learning disabilities. Which he was beaten for at home, and caused him huge unanswered shame.
But again, he could basically instantly understand the motivations of a room full of strangers, it was uncanny. Even other people I know who are good at it, not like this. And he would get bored and put people in weird situations to entertain himself, using this power. They never saw what he was doing.
Trump is fucking horrible at almost everything. He's not quite dumb though, really clearly not. He's unable and unwilling to direct his mind toward anything other than a specific narrow set of goals, and this person I knew was exactly that way.
But pursuit of one of his goals? He'd fucking get there. He would get there. And it was sometimes horrifying, and often base and mean, but it could just be a lot of egregious flattery too - whatever the situation called for. Scary stuff.
The People Of Tranquility Have Taken Advantage Of Our Generosity For Too Long. From Now On The Sea Of Tranquility Shall Be Known As The Sea Of America.
Its not hit $5/gallon once where I am at in rural Illinois. When I filled up a few days ago itnwas $4.09 I think. I mostlynremeber because I had used some Kroger points that made it $3.09 ($1 off).
Though I don't think I have ever had enough points to get a dollar off before, usually ita at most 20 cents.
3 ish bucks of what you pay a gallon is tax that goes to infustructure, in the US depending on the state we pay like maybe 20 cents a gallon in tax. Even California which has the highest gas tax it's only 76 cents
His cronies will try to keep him in power as long as possible, so that their schemes keep getting greenlit. Also, they have stupid fucking Vance prepped up.
Literally like a scene from a comedy movie except even that parody president was less incoherent. Itd be almost funny in a sad sort of way if he wasnt, well, in charge of a massive military.

Is he aware that the decades of solar radiation on the moon has bleached the flag the Apollo astronauts left?
It's white. Indistinguishable from a flag of surrender.
Not to mention, the US is a signatory of the Outer Space Treaty, recognizing space as neutral ground and subject to the same legal precedent as maritime law governing international waters.
I would assume the cloth on the flag has broken down by now. It's been getting blasted by unfiltered solar radiation for almost 60 years. I'm not sure what it was made of, but I wouldn't expect thin cotton or polyester lasting in that environment for 60 years.
Its sad that it takes such ludicrous displays before people acknowledge that “there is something wrong with Trump”. And then large chunks of them will in the next breath continue to support him.
They can't even take a strait, or maintain equipment, and have issues with feeding their people. So yes, the us should totally try to "take" over the moon.
Invading an undefended unpopulated rock might just be achievable by the current US military. Although I have some doubt that anyone in the current US administration knows about the lack of oxygen.
Among Trump’s bizarre online posts were images that appeared to be generated with artificial intelligence (AI) depicting him in hellish landscapes with threatening messages. One depicts Trump walking in Washington, D.C. alongside an army of robots and soldiers with red glowing eyes, and the message, “THEY WILL NEVER SLEEP AGAIN.” Another depicts Trump sitting atop a black throne amid a hellish and war-torn landscape in front of giant humanoid robots.
In another post, Trump suggested renaming the state of New Mexico to “New America,” and in another, redrawing Iran’s borders to mirror the silhouette of Trump’s profile. One post, also likely generated with AI, depicts the destruction of Iran’s Kharg Island with the message, “Bye bye, Kharg.”
Trump also shared an image of the moon that included the text, “THE MOON IS OURS,” alongside an American flag.
Well putin and trump are speed running the end of empires, I think China at this point could at least get a base working on the moon. The other two.... eh maybe get there, fuck something up and die?
Maybe. Who knows, same with trump and Xi can be said. The idea that nothing can be changed is kinda how we are all in this mess.
Putin not getting killed by his own people would be about the best he can hope for at this point, and in that case I am sure that the next great leader will be just the same but with even less stability.
Oh come on. Everyone knows that after planting the flag, Neil Armstrong licked the ground and by official playground rules... Mine! Was declared making the moon property of the US 😂
Fun fact: Moon dirt, formally known as lunar regolith, is incredibly sharp. The particles it's made up of aren't weathered by wind or water like they are on earth, so it's basically a soil made out of tiny tiny knives. If you breathe it in or lick it, it'll tear your insides apart like super-asbestos.
I like that kind of fine British understatement. It is like the BBC diffuses that MS Titanic appears to have had a minor collision with something floating on the surface and there might even exist risk that she cannot reach her destination harbour on time.
It's not too bad as he isn't saying the moon is a projection or that the earth is flat, like many of his followers. But the fact there is something seriously wrong is what we all know since he first ran for president, or even before that. Nothing has changed ever since. The guy is deranged. He's like Hitler, while missing a few chromosomes.
Currently Trump is responsible for roughly 1 million deaths this year alone by just cutting USAID. Next to that they have been murdering fishermen in the Caribbean, bombed Iran and 6 other countries and increased poverty in the US and made health care in the US out of reach for more of its inhabitants, as well as medication. Next to that regulations for food safely and pollution have been loosened, which will have a negative impact on health. This will result in many national deaths over the coming years. Then there is the thing with vaccines, reduced funding for the CDC and other vital departments responsible for preventing disease outbreak.
The estimates for the amount of deaths from cutting USAID for over 10 years are between 10 and 15 million, with more casualties in the years after, so Trump is on a path of surpassing Hitler when it comes to death count based on this alone. Oh and don't forget how he supplies and supports Israel in the genocide of Palestine, and the other illegal wars Israel is currently involved in.
Oh and don't forget the concentration camps from ICE, in El Salvador and African countries where a mysterious amount of people are secretly dying.
and Stalin and Mao combined murdered over 100 million or some similar figure, so if you like either, you're worse than a Nazi.
(/s—kinda)
Currently Trump is responsible for roughly 1 million deaths this year alone by just cutting USAID.
That's not the same as mass murder.
Next to that they have been murdering fishermen in the Caribbean,
Did he murder 6 million of them?
bombed Iran and 6 other countries
Did he kill over 20% of the Iranian population as Hitler did to Poland?
and increased poverty in the US and made health care in the US out of reach for more of its inhabitants, as well as medication.
Communism increased the poverty of the Soviet Union and China each for at least a decade.
Next to that regulations for food safely and pollution have been loosened, which will have a negative impact on health. This will result in many national deaths over the coming years. Then there is the thing with vaccines, reduced funding for the CDC and other vital departments responsible for preventing disease outbreak.
I'm sure those in Auschwitz would have loved to have American junk food.
The estimates for the amount of deaths from cutting USAID for over 10 years are between 10 and 15 million, with more casualties in the years after,
But is the US stopping those countries from feeding themselves and the like?
IIUC, some of these countries suffer because of their own governments.
so Trump is on a path of surpassing Hitler when it comes to death count based on this alone.
a long path, IMO.
Oh and don’t forget how he supplies and supports Israel in the genocide of Palestine, and the other illegal wars Israel is currently involved in.
Did Israel murder 6 million Palestinians, or even a 10th of that?
Arguably Hitler, in the minds of many Jews, made Zionism necessary: it's not like the Muslim world and Communists offered a better more practical alternative; ergo Hitler is kind of to blame for the suffering of Palestinians.
Oh and don’t forget the concentration camps from ICE, in El Salvador and African countries where a mysterious amount of people are secretly dying.
IIUC, those Salvadoran detention camps are are a creation of wp:Nayib Bukele who IIUC is a Salvadoran of Palestinian descent, once self-described as a "radical leftist" and may be either a Christian or Muslim.
IIUC, a few years ago El Salvador had the highest murder rate of any country, and after he took over, he essentially imprisoned about 2% of El Salvador's male population, and now that rate has fallen perhaps to US levels or lower.
As for the death toll, again it's a small fraction, perhaps a tiny fraction, of the Holocaust.
(Angela of Parkrose Permaculture says similar, and I also disagree with her on that.)
and Stalin and Mao combined murdered over 100 million or some similar figure, so if you like either, you're worse than a Nazi.
I do not. Wtf
That's not the same as mass murder.
The how would you call letting millions die of hunger and sickness willingly? According you your logic Hitler was also not responsible for mass murder, he let others do the work for him. This is fucking bullshit.
Did he murder 6 million of them?
Is that a baseline to let it count?
Did he kill over 20% of the Iranian population as Hitler did to Poland?
So that is worse. That makes Trump good? He did help kill ~80% of all Palestinians in Gaza, of which ~30% are children, plus ~21% of children in westbank and an unknown percentage of civilians there. Does that count?
Communism increased the poverty of the Soviet Union and China each for at least a decade.
What is your point here? Communism also increased poverty, so? Trump is good? Trump does not increase poverty? Me: "This is an apple." You: "But that is also an apple." yes it is mate. Both are apples. What is your point? Both Trump and the communist regimes China and Soviet union, but also North Korea, are bad.
I'm sure those in Auschwitz would have loved to have American junk food.
Maybe ask those in ICE concentration camps if they would like some junk food instead of forced hunger. Again, what is your point? You make no sense. Also ask ICE for real reports of deaths in there while you're at it.
Dude, defending Trump works on Twitter, you're on the wrong platform here mate. You make no sense with your arguments. The more I read the worse it gets. I'm not going to continue arguing with this nonsense.
Just because the ratios of deaths are not exactly the same among amount of deaths doesn't make Trump less evil. He treats other humans as non-human, he's responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths, which is going into millions of deaths over the years. He opened concentration camps, he endorses crimes against humanity and war crimes including famine, genocide and torture, he supports fascists, he kidnapped a nation's leader, started a war, bombed 7 countries in his second term alone, broke ties with his allies, fucked the economy, raised world tension. Oh and he's corrupt AF and a serial child sexual abuser. The guy is evil AF. Hitler was evil AF. But yeah, he's not an exact copy. Hitler his ugly paintings look better than Trump his drawings, and Hitler wasn't known to sexually abuse kids. So maybe Trump is worse than Hitler, maybe it's comparing apples with pears.
and Stalin and Mao combined murdered over 100 million or some similar figure, so if you like either, you’re worse than a Nazi.
I do not. Wtf
good to know. 😁 🙂
That’s not the same as mass murder.
The how would you call letting millions die of hunger and sickness willingly? According you your logic Hitler was also not responsible for mass murder, he let others do the work for him. This is fucking bullshit.
One might be able to say the same about the leader of any developed country with a GDP of over $1 trillion, or maybe one of our alleged "trillionaires" such as Musk.
Did he murder 6 million of them?
Is that a baseline to let it count?
If you're going to compare Trump, or anyone else, with Hitler, I'd say so.
He did help kill ~80% of all Palestinians in Gaza,
I don't think that Trump or the Israeli leaders combined killed that number.
Me: “This is an apple.” You: “But that is also an apple.” yes it is mate. Both are apples. What is your point?
IIUC, we're arguing quantity more than quality.
This is an apple, and this is 10 apples: which would you rather have?
Maybe ask those in ICE concentration camps if they would like some junk food instead of forced hunger.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think it's Nayib Bukele intention is to exterminate a population with a disproportionately large number, if not a majority of, gangsters and other criminals. I'm sure he's content to keep them there for decades, if necessary; though I get the feeling that most will be released in several years or a few decades. (Also, Jews and other concentration camp victims didn't cause Germany to have a murder rate of about 100:100 000 a year).
Dude, defending Trump works on Twitter, you’re on the wrong platform here mate. You make no sense with your arguments. The more I read the worse it gets. I’m not going to continue arguing with this nonsense.
I'm no more defending Trump than you're defending Hitler.
Trump is a bad man, but Hitler was worse; and that, to some here, it seems, is a controversial statement.
Just because the ratios of deaths are not exactly the same among amount of deaths doesn’t make Trump less evil.
Now what if I re-wrote that:
Just because the ratios of deaths are not exactly the same among amount of deaths doesn’t make Hitler more evil.
He opened concentration camps,
Where? Do they have gas chambers?
and before you cite the US prison-industrial-complex, that existed long before Trump. Indeed, before that, they had slavery. In fact a few Presidents owned slaves. Jefferson, cited by many in a positive way, owned slaves and probably fucked, i.e. in his case raped, a few of them.
he endorses crimes against humanity and war crimes including famine, genocide and torture,
a lot of people endorsed it, including Dubya Bush, who seems to be becoming an ally-of-sorts with a few anti-Trumpers.
he kidnapped a nation’s leader,
a bad leader at that, but Papa Bush got Noriega.
Hitler wasn’t known to sexually abuse kids.
FWIW,
Sally Hemings: the woman Jefferson kept as a slave, as well, IIUC, a few hundred other people.
So maybe Trump is worse than Hitler, maybe it’s comparing apples with pears.
I'd say an apple and a pear to 10 apples and 10 pears.
I'm not saying that you are, and sorry if I somehow implied it.
That said, Hitler committed suicide soon after turning 56, and Trump is 24 years older than that; or conversely, Trump turned 56 in 2002, just before Bush decided to invade Iraq.
Even then, I don't think Hitler was more competent.
Hitler opened up 2 fronts. That was stupid.
Hitler declared war on the US, which gave FDR the reason/excuse to pommel Nazi Germany.
I wonder what would have happened if this imbecilic self-indulgence had come after China had successfully launched Chang'e 7. And by "wonder" I mean "dread".
Chang'e 7, whose launch has been delayed, is a highly ambitious and comprehensive (uncrewed) lunar mission incorporating four separate vehicles into a single launch and mission: orbiter, fixed lander, rover, and - an innovative "hopper", which has been previously implemented (by Japan) for landing on a small asteroid, but never a world as large as Luna, or as difficult to navigate.
This is definitely one of the most ambitious space probes ever to be assembled. One might even say the most ambitious, when you consider that the landing site is remarkably close to the South Pole - not the easier or safest region to visit, let alone properly explore. If this mission were going beyond Luna, I'd probably rank it in the same league as Viking or Cassini-Huygens - and in fact, depending on its longevity and science return, I ultimately might have to anyway.
Some have gone so far as to say that this mission represents the point where China's spaceflight abilities are challenging, or even exceeding, the USA's. I'll leave that debate to the side here while noting that the science return from Chang'e 7 looks to be phenomenal and possibly groundbreaking, if they can pull this off. This isn't a "flags and footprints" or purely nationalistic mission; China's already done those. From the science standpoint, this looks like the real thing.
Those who consider Lunar science a dead and settled issue have some shocks coming, both geopolitically - because of the potential for exploitation of Lunar resources and development of military applications) - and scientifically. The equatorial and mid-lat regions of Earth's Moon are not well-explored, despite what people think, with information about the origin and evolution of planets in general. And that's before you consider that the Lunar South Pole could be a repository for comet and asteroid debris that is second to none. Explore that properly, return those samples to your labs, and you could be gathering data on the ultimate development of the atmosphere and biology on Earth.
In this context, a pronouncement like this from the "leader", or even the dementia-riddled tribal figurehead, of the US could be disastrous. Regardless of his proclivity to write his name in water, or the general understanding that we're dealing with someone who was always emotionally and intellectually stunted, the world could watch as China starts to unlock the deeper potential of space science, while the USA grows aggressive and grasping in a domain where there are as yet no people, and no rules. Even with Trump gone, what do you suppose a President Hegseth or Vance would do in cislunar space? "Claiming" Luna isn't feasible, unless you try to shoot down any craft landing there, but what about the Lagrange 2 point or the geosynchronous belt above Earth?
When you consider how Musk, Bezos and the FCC cabal have effectively been squatting in Low Earth Orbit with Starlink and other satellite constellations - to the point of crowding out other users - I wouldn't put any of this past the post-Trump USA.
To your point, creating a Kessler Syndrome event would effectively keep any other nations from even attempting much in the way of space exploration for a few centuries. It seems that Musk and Bezos are trying to create one.
Not that I don't agree that there is a serious problem with what muck et al are doing, but it won't lead to Kessler syndrome, the satellite the make up star link are orbiting at what, 250 to 350 km of altitude. They will come down within two or three years on their own.
He rips them up all the time, even the ones he himself made. They are worth less then nothing, if anything treaties are just inverted instructions on what he should do.
It’s one of the worst “news”sites on the internet. Way over sensationalized to the point of making people think that Trump actually has the ability to be embarrassed.
Throughout history, no land claim has been valid without pissing on it. No one from America has pissed on the moon, therefore cannot claim ownership of it.
I believe the Apollo astronauts did leave bags of human waste on the moon which may have contained urine. Probably need more specific criteria than just “American urine touched the moon’s surface”.
Article II of the treaty explicitly forbids any government from "appropriating" a celestial body such as the Moon or a planet, whether by declaration, use, occupation, or "any other means".
"This stupid treaty was signed by Lyndon B Johnson. Some say the B stood for 'Big'. He had a Big Johnson (accordion hands). Not as big as my Johnson. Everyone knows I'm 'uge. Just ask Ivanka. Or Melania. Or Stormy. No don't ask Stormy, she's a nasty woman who tells the truth....No! She lies! Nasty, nasty woman!"
Ah, but the trick is that A) Trump doesn't care and B) the treaty says nothing about selling the moon off to corporate entities. I could definitely see this admin selling mining rights, that's why Isaacman wants a moon base as opposed to an orbital station (which was the initial plan, as a launching point for future inner and outer system exploration).
It's a money sink of galactic proportions, and the USA is basically out of money. No one else is opposing because they are letting the US sink itself at this point
Denying your opponent the use of space, be it Low Earth Orbit or points beyond in cislunar space, is hardly trivial. You would notice if the GPS, weather and communication functions of Earth's satellite swarm were denied you. China and Russia understand this well, no matter how many people here may be stuck in their blinkered, reactionary opinion that "space is a waste of money".
Did you read the description under the pic? I get the feeling Raw Story really doesn't appreciate him, lol. Look at the date.
U.S. President Donald Trump gestures as he makes an impression of a transgender weightlifter during his address to House Republicans at their annual issues conference retreat at the Kennedy Center, renamed the Trump-Kennedy Center by the Trump-appointed board of directors, in Washington, D.C., U.S., January 6, 2026.

PolarKraken@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 1 pts · 8h

DMCMNFIBFFF@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 21h
Hitler essentially had 10s of millions murdered.
TigerAce@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 10 pts · 19h
DMCMNFIBFFF@lemmy.world · -5 pts · 15h
and Stalin and Mao combined murdered over 100 million or some similar figure, so if you like either, you're worse than a Nazi.
(/s—kinda)
That's not the same as mass murder.
Did he murder 6 million of them?
Did he kill over 20% of the Iranian population as Hitler did to Poland?
Communism increased the poverty of the Soviet Union and China each for at least a decade.
I'm sure those in Auschwitz would have loved to have American junk food.
But is the US stopping those countries from feeding themselves and the like?
IIUC, some of these countries suffer because of their own governments.
a long path, IMO.
TigerAce@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 5 pts · 14h
I do not. Wtf
The how would you call letting millions die of hunger and sickness willingly? According you your logic Hitler was also not responsible for mass murder, he let others do the work for him. This is fucking bullshit.
Is that a baseline to let it count?
So that is worse. That makes Trump good? He did help kill ~80% of all Palestinians in Gaza, of which ~30% are children, plus ~21% of children in westbank and an unknown percentage of civilians there. Does that count?
What is your point here? Communism also increased poverty, so? Trump is good? Trump does not increase poverty? Me: "This is an apple." You: "But that is also an apple." yes it is mate. Both are apples. What is your point? Both Trump and the communist regimes China and Soviet union, but also North Korea, are bad.
DMCMNFIBFFF@lemmy.world · -1 pts · 13h
good to know. 😁 🙂
One might be able to say the same about the leader of any developed country with a GDP of over $1 trillion, or maybe one of our alleged "trillionaires" such as Musk.
If you're going to compare Trump, or anyone else, with Hitler, I'd say so.
How many Gazans are there?
WP says about 2 million.
80% of that is 1.6 million.
I don't think that Trump or the Israeli leaders combined killed that number.
IIUC, we're arguing quantity more than quality.
This is an apple, and this is 10 apples: which would you rather have?
Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think it's Nayib Bukele intention is to exterminate a population with a disproportionately large number, if not a majority of, gangsters and other criminals. I'm sure he's content to keep them there for decades, if necessary; though I get the feeling that most will be released in several years or a few decades. (Also, Jews and other concentration camp victims didn't cause Germany to have a murder rate of about 100:100 000 a year).
I'm no more defending Trump than you're defending Hitler.
Trump is a bad man, but Hitler was worse; and that, to some here, it seems, is a controversial statement.
Now what if I re-wrote that:
Just because the ratios of deaths are not exactly the same among amount of deaths doesn’t make Hitler more evil.
Where? Do they have gas chambers?
and before you cite the US prison-industrial-complex, that existed long before Trump. Indeed, before that, they had slavery. In fact a few Presidents owned slaves. Jefferson, cited by many in a positive way, owned slaves and probably fucked, i.e. in his case raped, a few of them.
a lot of people endorsed it, including Dubya Bush, who seems to be becoming an ally-of-sorts with a few anti-Trumpers.
a bad leader at that, but Papa Bush got Noriega.
FWIW,
Sally Hemings: the woman Jefferson kept as a slave, as well, IIUC, a few hundred other people.
I'd say an apple and a pear to 10 apples and 10 pears.

Even then, I don't think Hitler was more competent.
Hitler opened up 2 fronts. That was stupid.
Hitler declared war on the US, which gave FDR the reason/excuse to pommel Nazi Germany.
Mussolini, another idiot, did the same.
Meanwhile.

Throughout history, no land claim has been valid without pissing on it. No one from America has pissed on the moon, therefore cannot claim ownership of it.
melfie@lemmy.zip · 8 pts · 16h
I believe the Apollo astronauts did leave bags of human waste on the moon which may have contained urine. Probably need more specific criteria than just “American urine touched the moon’s surface”.

Or Melania. Or Stormy. No don't ask Stormy, she's a nasty woman who tells the truth....No! She lies! Nasty, nasty woman!"

Mirshe@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 1d
Ah, but the trick is that A) Trump doesn't care and B) the treaty says nothing about selling the moon off to corporate entities. I could definitely see this admin selling mining rights, that's why Isaacman wants a moon base as opposed to an orbital station (which was the initial plan, as a launching point for future inner and outer system exploration).

SpecialSetOfSieves@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 1d
Denying your opponent the use of space, be it Low Earth Orbit or points beyond in cislunar space, is hardly trivial. You would notice if the GPS, weather and communication functions of Earth's satellite swarm were denied you. China and Russia understand this well, no matter how many people here may be stuck in their blinkered, reactionary opinion that "space is a waste of money".

Will any person of another nationality walk the Moon before the first half of this century ends?
It's kind of a slow race, IMO.
