Hell, the war for independence was more or less a civil war but it only succeeded because the French came in and whipped the colonies into an actual fighting force. There is no equivalent outside force today that is going to come in and train the American populace, and even if there were you would be talking about some funding of terrorist cells kinda CIA style. The only place that could even remotely, (and I mean a snowflakes chance in hell) work is in the less populated middle of the country but there's no force out there that agrees with left wing ideology and there's no way to get supplies to them.

In principle Americans could start now and build the infrastructure for a successful popular revolt (though that infrastructure would be much better used preemptively to prevent the need for popular revolt); they just won't because they still believe the fascists will let themselves be voted out of power. The bad ending is still preventable but it won't be prevented.

I've bought 6 guns in the past month. Im looking for more. Took my kids and girl out shooting last weekend, taught the kids how to load and fire the 22. Let my girl go from loading the magazines and firing the 9 and 40 pistols. Let her pick which she liked best for home. Next weekend I'll have the 9 carbine, 40 carbine and shotgun out for her to fire and I have a better target system for the kids to work with. If it keeps then safe from assholes, I'm for it.

I go to the range every week now that I am retired. Last Thursday I stopped in a gun store in Marion, NC on the way home. I have sent in there a few times just to look. Anyway to make a long story short I asked about the 30 cal machine gun on display and related a story about how the mechanics mounted a huge ass 50 cal on their HUMVEE when I was in Iraq. The old fat fuck into into how Cubans are ingenious on fixing things and how we need to make them the 51st state. The shop owner agreed. I asked, "hey man are you willing to signup and help with that?" The fat fuck said. " yeah sure. " So I just laughed and walked out. I have numerous gun shop stories like that. Usually I will asked, " sounds like you might have served? What unit were you with?" The response is almost always, " I was not in the military." I like to call them chickhawks because they are more than willing to send someone else into the shit but not willing to go themselves.

I am MAGA-passing and ex-military. I most certainly run in conservative crowds and they are far far more hateful and violent than the more liberal groups I attend. I loved the Ken Burns civil war show that aired on PBS when I was a kid. Half my family is from the south and the other half is from Germany. I consume as much history as I can. I am, by turns, both facilitated and appalled by the cyclical nature of human history.
An armed populace isn't about fighting the military in some grand battle. It's about making every random person a potential threat. When every citizen has a chance of being armed, leaders should lead in a way that doesn't piss off too many of them.

Would you say the person who kills another person harming their family a murderer? By all definition they are, but would we hound them as evil or bad or crazy? Much of Europe was actually, antisemitism has always been strong across western European countries like France, Spain, and (at the time it was still considered one) the UK. And appeasement was an appealing option that most countries were in support of right up until the moment that the Nazis were in their borders blowing things up. The idea that the Allies had always opposed Nazi Germany - and especially that they did so for moral and ethical reasons - is one of the biggest white washing propaganda programs in modern history.
America holds the special distinction of being the only country besides Germany to hold a Nazi convention, though, and we did almost join the war on their side a couple of times while we were also funneling money and arms to various other nations in Europe.

Sexism and racism are the actual problem, it's the manufactured fear reaction to non-white, non-male ascendancy in politics now that people of color and women ARE becoming economically and politically successful. Most of the liberal democracies in the west were okay with immigration and equality UNTIL those who benefitted from reachng for it started to threaten the idea of the ruling white male paradigm.

Whether you consider this fortunate or unfortunate is up to you, but I don't think this is likely. Not because MAGA won't go that far, but because nobody in a position to organize a popular mass response (armed or unarmed) to a MAGA overthrow of democracy would actually do it. The right will enthusiastically support it, the center will be kinda mad but just fall in line and the left will be caught with its pants down because nobody is out there building the organizational infrastructure for such a thing.

I'm glad someone gets it. It won't be 'civil war' it will be 'civil unrest' with any true attempts to organize or enact violence quickly being neutralized by the complicit surveillance state. It doesn't matter what the majority believe or want. It matters what you can enact in defense of your principles and your right to exist. This is how the fascist mind works. If they can't be stopped then they won't stop.
Frankly, it's already too late. We already know how this works because we've seen it. In Russia, Hong Kong, Tiananmen Square, Iran, and a smattering of other places. It won't be civil war. You need a military force for civil war. a cohesive engine with infrastructure and capital and weaponry. It will be protests and varying degree of 'riots' with maybe a peppering individual actors carrying out actual terrorist violence. None of that amounts to a civil war. At best you're talking about a handful of dumb kids that got guns and went to a protest and then got everyone at the protest killed when they tried to defend themselves.
Hell, the war for independence was more or less a civil war but it only succeeded because the French came in and whipped the colonies into an actual fighting force. There is no equivalent outside force today that is going to come in and train the American populace, and even if there were you would be talking about some funding of terrorist cells kinda CIA style. The only place that could even remotely, (and I mean a snowflakes chance in hell) work is in the less populated middle of the country but there's no force out there that agrees with left wing ideology and there's no way to get supplies to them.
I'm sorry folks. I wish it weren't so, but the moral high ground is useless if you can't defend it.
Wipe your digital footprint, learn to obfuscate yourself and stfu until you can figure out how to leave if you're a vulnerable demographic because shit's going to hit the fan hard and you might find yourself dying in an 'accidental' prison fire or something the next time you go to a big protest and get arrested.

I more or less agres, but I wanna note that I'm a bit more optimistic than you in that I don't think it's quite too late. In principle Americans could start now and build the infrastructure for a successful popular revolt (though that infrastructure would be much better used preemptively to prevent the need for popular revolt); they just won't because they still believe the fascists will let themselves be voted out of power. The bad ending is still preventable but it won't be prevented.

I've bought 6 guns in the past month. Im looking for more. Took my kids and girl out shooting last weekend, taught the kids how to load and fire the 22. Let my girl go from loading the magazines and firing the 9 and 40 pistols. Let her pick which she liked best for home. Next weekend I'll have the 9 carbine, 40 carbine and shotgun out for her to fire and I have a better target system for the kids to work with. If it keeps then safe from assholes, I'm for it.

CCL = $150+ 16-hour class + $150 license good for 5 years
CCL insurance = $10+/month through USCCA, NRA, US Law Shield, or other (typically offers $1m+ for 2A defense attorney fees for criminal court and I believe ditto for civil court too)
Now you can make your firearm purchase... minus 170+ banned firearms due to loading mechanisms, attachments, magazine capacities, firing method, etc.

I go to the range every week now that I am retired. Last Thursday I stopped in a gun store in Marion, NC on the way home. I have sent in there a few times just to look. On the door as you go in is Calvin pissing on Polisi sticker on the door and Trump shirts hanging on display. I am looking at stuff and some old fat fuck is filling out forms. Anyway to make a long story short I asked about the 30 cal machine gun on display and related a story about how the mechanics mounted a huge ass 50 cal on their HUMVEE when I was in Iraq. The old fat fuck into into how Cubans are ingenious on fixing things and how we need to make them the 51st state. The shop owner agreed. I asked, "hey man are you willing to signup and help with that?" The fat fuck said. " yeah sure. " So I just laughed and walked out. I have numerous gun shop stories like that. Usually I will asked, " sounds like you might have served? What unit were you with?" The response is almost always, " I was not in the military." I like to call them chickhawks because they are more than willing to send someone else into the shit but not willing to go themselves.

I am MAGA-passing and ex-military. I most certainly run in conservative crowds and they are far far more hateful and violent than the more liberal groups I attend. Not saying there aren't lunatic fringes on both sides, but the right has adopted their lunatic fringe as mainstream. Go into any gun shop, shooting range, biker bar, golf course, strip club, rodeo....if it leans conservative and you listen, or initiate more violent rhetoric, it will be met with approval. Do that in a coffee shop, bookstore, bike shop, leftist gun range (we literally have one, it is amazing), or other more left leaning place and try that. Some folks will agree and some will try to run you out of the place.
Note: I have read history books and fully understand all major positive changes were brought about by violence, so I am definitely a more aggro leftist, but I'm not randomly shooting people or advocating for assassination. I do however bring up that peace isn't going to work (wrong or not, not debating that here) and I only get shot down by ONE side.
Even people at my church say "God will smite the sinners(Dems)" as they vote for the human embodiment of the 7 deadly sins and clear machinations of the deceiver turning God's flock against the righteous path.
Get help, friend. It is out there.

If it comes down to Civil War, the military will be wildly fractured, and regional. Most of your daily danger will come from gangs of local marauders who will fancy themselves as militias. Those people can be handled with a bit of smarts and intelligence.

They will keep putting them up. They will start to hide them. They will be built into traffic lights and hidden in other things. And they will crack down harder on those that take them down. They will run campaigns that appeal to a sense of safety and label those that oppose terrorists.
And it really doesn't matter what the voters on both sides of the aisle want, we have a parliament of whores that does the bidding of corporate interest and the ruling class. It's been that way on both sides of the aisle for a long time. Politicians have no problem deciding against the will of their constituents. Go look at the Louis Rossman coverage of 3d printing surveillance for one example of this.
It's not a coincidence that age ID surveillance laws, 3d printing surveillance software, flock style camera surveillance networks are all being implemented right now. And massive AI datacenters to track and flag everything. One CEO gets killed and the next thing you know, systems are put into place to make sure it will never happen again, that there can be no uprising.
Our only hope is to do what they are afraid of before these systems are in place and fully operating. Because once in place, we have little to no hope in correcting.

You know I really don't know what I am. I just want everybody to live the the life they want. I want everybody to have healthcare. I want kids to be educated. I want our infrastructure to be the best in the world. I want national parks to instill the love of nature. I want the natural resources taken from our ground and oceans to be used to enrich the lives of everybody not just the few. I want any public service work to be the highest aspiration of a child be it military, paramedic, social worker, or school teacher. I don't know what this makes me. I do know that I benefited from things like this when I was growing up and I think they are worthwhile. Like I said I don't know what that makes me I just know that Project 2025 and the MAGA are evil and if we can not come together and fight it then everything I hoped for in life will be lost. We all will be lost. I don't want to become that guy standing at a checkpoint asking, " what kind of American are you?"

Liberals believe in reforming the system, but not fundamentally changing it. Okay, while I agree, killing someone is a heavy thing, why do we always beat down the folks on our side willing to do it?
I mean, you are right. Being in a situation where someone wants to kill you makes you shake rattle and roll to find any way out...that's just not always an option.
I'm not saying we shouldn't find a way to fix things without violence, but that's not always the case. The only place where you can end ever conflict with no violence is in make believe land.
I constantly see folks like you saying "y'all are so dumb wanting to fight back against them, you'll never kill any of em. Etc etc."
At this point all you are doing is demoralizing the folks on our side who will pick up a gun and fight back.
I mean when some back woods red neck is at your door with a shotty are you gonna talk? Do you think they will listen?
They know what they are doing is wrong. They know you are human. They hear your logic and reasoning. They do not care. They want you dead.
Have your acts of philosophy and your bleeding speeches about how violence is never the answer. Have your moments to tell us that we must rise above the animalistic impulse to take and destroy.
But stop beating down the folks who would and are willing to take up the mantle of warrior to defend us against such humans that would seek to destroy everything we are.

I agree. Killing someone is murder not matter the circumstances. But I am aware enough to know that not all murder is murder. Would you say the person who kills another person harming their family a murderer? By all definition they are, but would we hound them as evil or bad or crazy? Or would we say "they did what they did to defend their family."
But also I keep seeing this denial of what MAGA can do.
There is no greater danger than to underestimate your opponents.
If I was to step back and look at it, MAGA has proven again and again that they are capable and willing. To be even more honest, they are whooping our asses right now.
What I'm saying is, when the chips are laid down and the dust is settled and you are face to face with hateful human who doesn't care about your logic or beliefs, and is willing to mow you down to get what they want....do you really wanna push everyone who is willing to cross that line away?
I'd much rather have a person willing to pick up a spear and fight along side me than someone to quote to me why I'm wrong for wanting to fight.
I won't down vote you or anything. Your beliefs are yours. I know we both probably agree, we should strive for better as a species. But for me, I don't believe we can get to a better world unless we are willing to put our selves on the line for it.

It’s not that fighting is wrong, per se, it’s that killing someone should always be the last resort whenever possible. At least that’s how I see it. I might not if I wasn’t me.

Some conflicts forces one side to turn the dial, the French revolution is one. Which is the cornerstone building the majority of European democracies, as that was a way for the ruling/royal class to give back power to the peasants, to ensure they didn't get inspired by some guillotines

We’ve witnessed capitalism and its inhumanity. That’s extreme. Up until recently we’ve been the spoiled beneficiaries, while our gluttonous appetite for consumerism has cause immeasurable suffering to developing nations via economic imperialism.
When I realized this, workers rising up worldwide to dominate the capital class is the only moral endpoint. And that might require violence, as the rich aren’t going to willingly comply without the threat of elimination. Fighting to have justice for workers isn’t extreme at all. It’s either us or them. They’d just as soon have us dead. We’re all expendable parts of a machine to them.
Radical unionists in the early 20th century fought the military and died in order for us to have 8-hour workdays and better working conditions.
