1 office chair has 5 wheels. Almost every home has at least 1 office chair. And if we look at hospitals then it gets even worse because there are a lot of the beds have wheels.
And then we can go even further. A lot of curtains use rollers which are wheels. So if I just look at my apartment, I probably have 15-20 doors(cabinet doors, etc. but a lot of the normal doors are sliding doors which use wheels) and probably 50-100 wheels. And that is probably undercounting the wheels that are there by a lot.
Yeah, but does that hold up globally? There are 8 billion people out there, plenty without computers or curtains. My guess is wheels only win cause you can also count defunct wheels on landfill bound chairs and things-- is a door still a door if it's unhinged and scraped?
And inside those apartment complexes? Luggage, storage bins, drawers, IKEA daybed couches, modular tables, entertainment centers, desk chairs, and compact pizza-cutting utensils, all with one or more wheels.
I don't know if this is true, but when I was doing training in the tyre industry, one of the leaders liked to ask, which company, globally, manufactures the most tyres? obvious answers included Michelin and the like. Their answer? Lego. apparently they pump out more rubberized tyres than any other car tyre manufacturer

The materials are different, but a Lego tire is like 2.5 grams. A car tire is, let's say, 10kg - some are lighter, others heavier.
Michelin alone produces like 200 million tires a year, Vs Lego's 300 million, so car tires use more materials by several orders of magnitude, it's not even close.
Gears. The car's transmission alone has probably 30 meshed together on its own, not to mention gears are in everything. Bearings too. Is a sphere a wheel? Casters, slide rails with wheel runners, washers, and conveyor belts feel like they deserve a spot as they are round locomotive devices.
Doors also are very rare in nature, but a rock pretty regularly forms the right shape for a wheel.

Easily wheels. Every roller bearing in things like drawer slides, sliding closet doors, sliding shower doors, sliding screen or glass doors, etc. are technically a kind of wheel. A single door could have multiple wheels. Garage door segments with multiple wheels as rollers pre segment. Cars, bicycles, scooters, skateboards, motorbikes all have multiple wheels. Wheels aren’t just for locomotion. 18 wheel trucks have only two doors but obviously 18 wheels, not including any hand-trolleys it might have in the back for loading/unloading. Trains have multiple bogies usually with 4 wheels each and two to a car, 8 wheels per car and maybe two to four doors.

I see your wheel argument but want to add cabinet/closet doors to muddy the waters. My non-representative bathroom has 6 doors and no wheels. Then there are developing countries that often don't have wheels on their drawers and doors and rely on hinges more.
But they can have cars, motorcycles, mopeds, bicycles, hand carts, carts pulled by animals, and more. Does a doorway need to have a door on it to be a door? I kinda figured it sorta does, and probably in developing countries they might have curtain covers for cabinet doors rather than solid hinged ones. Not sure though.
It really depends on the country I've been to latin America and most people there have doors on their cabinets from what I've seen. Wood and labor there come pretty cheap. We'd need to get a good idea of an average house in India and China to make an educated guess.
One thing I'm pretty sure about is that there are more wheels being created now than doors.
Ok I think this actually has way too much speculation and is asking the wrong question. Instead of "in your opinion globally are there more x or y", why not quantify it? Specifically in your instance, does your living quarters and personal belongings and other places you frequent have more doors or wheels? Go count them. We can actually solve this with enough data.
For me it's doors by a long shot. Almost nothing in my life has wheels. I live frugally and cheap furniture usually doesn't have wheels. I don't own Lego as other comments suggest. Drawers are not doors. Gears are not wheels. Eyes (wtf) and widows are not doors. The breakdown in my life is:
My office chair has 5, I counted those. I have a bicycle with 2, also counted. No lawnmower, I don't have a lawn. I use bark and drought resistant native plants to preserve water. My fridge has 2, the ironing board nobody uses and should really be chucked has 2, my car has 4. That's everything
I don't understand this logic, the wheels are a part of that. By this logic we shouldn't be counting the doors of a car either because we don't call a car a door.
In my life it’s wheels by a long shot. 36 doors. 120 wheels. And that’s counting anything remotely like a door - stuff that’s sus. But all the wheels are 1000% clearly wheels. There are wheels everywhere.

I'll push back on the gears are not wheels statement. They serve the exact same function as wheels (as in they spin to allow something else to move or spin relative to them), just with teeth to add friction and make the ratios less dependent in the specific diameters and/or flaws in curvature (give them a large thing to grab onto to prevent small variations from having an impact).
Though I'll grant that hinges aren't wheels (while they do have an axle and involve spinning, the hinged object itself is more like the wheel than the hinge.
Also drawers, if they have tracks, have 2 or 4 wheels each.
There are hinges that use wheels, though, but I would agree that a standard door hinge is not a wheel.
But is a motor a wheel? Maybe not a servo motor since it can't completely rotate but a stepper or most other motors can freely rotate as much as they wish.
Pulleys are considered wheels - your vehicle is loaded with those.

My own definition for this question is, a wheel is called a wheel. You don't call gears wheels, they're a mechanism. If we get too clever with definitions, I have 700 small wheels in my medicine cabinet that facilitate my daily movement
a door handle has a latch assembly which is arguably a wheel, as is the turning cylinder, if it has a lock it could have a bunch more "wheels" too, and the "rose' (the round part that covers the hole the cylinder passes through to connect the two handles) could also be a "wheel" depending on your definition.
Not every cylinder is a wheel. Not every handle is connected to a door, and not every door has a handle. Sliding doors are doors, but not drawers. Cabinet doors are doors but not windows. A hinge is not a wheel. Plumbing isn't a wheel. Your capillaries and glands are not wheels.
For the purposes of this question, I think the best definition is simply: a wheel is called a wheel, and a door is called a door. The definition is in the name. That basically eliminates most nonsense haha
Every time I've seen this come up, it turns into a kind of coastline problem. The closer you look at everything we've built you just start finding more and more doors and just as you think it must be the winner you start seeing all the wheels that go along with them (or vice versa).
It's impossible to know which one wins without very clear (and limiting) definitions of "door" and "wheel". Those definitions would have to be equally restrictive to both "doors" and "wheels" or else the limitations decide, not the world we've built around us. I posit that anyone claiming to have an answer have made up their own limits of what "counts" and those limitations are likely not equally balanced.
I feel like most things with doors have more than one door too, but I guess that depends how granular you get... For example, my kitchen has like 30 doors. But like, that one singular cabinet only has one door...

Personally, I think I'm going to go with wheels over doors. I can think of a lot of doors that have wheels in them, but I can't think of that many wheels that have doors in them.
A wheel needs an axle, so the bearings aren't a separate wheel, but part of the larger wheel. You can have multiple wheels on the same axle, but not on the same plane. It gets more complicated when wheels are attached to eachother like on a truck.
In the same vain, I think doors need atleast a frame and a large sheet of some kind to close it.

I think this definition of "door" is probably too restricted at the same time. When I moved into my house, I had to take some doors off to get the furniture in. The doors are still in the basement. My wife sometimes asks me what we are going to do with the doors in the basement. If someone was down there, they would recognize them as doors that have been removed. By your definition, those doors aren't doors. As the same time, the lid on a dumpster meets the definition of a door, so maybe the definition you have is too expansive?
The point is, the question is confusing because wheels are doors are concepts that we have, and not strictly defined objects.

Your fridge has 2 wheels to make the motor work, so more wheels, nearly every single slide out drawer has wheels to help the draw slide out, so say 4 wheels each drawer and you have like 5 drawers, that's 20 wheels, your vacume cleaner has wheels, some beds have wheels, wheels will always out number doors.

Cas have 5 doors max, if you class the steering wheel they have a minimum of 5 wheels, so at worst a car zeros itself out, a bonnet/hood is a lid, so that doesn't count as a door, factories throw the door to wheel average right out the window, there's way more wheels involved in a factory or warehouse than there are doors, no matter how you spin it, wheels always come out the winner.

You gotta remember there's a lot of wheels out there that are hidden from view, rollers and cogs are wheels, so clocks are full of wheels, rollers are wheels so convertor belts, sliding doors and kitchen draws have wheels.

I dunno, I think a lot of those "round shit that spins" are defined as wheels. A pully consists of a wheel and something stretched over it and pulled. A gear is literally a "toothed wheel". I could see an argument that a typical ball bearing consists of 2 wheels, an inner and outer.
Still though. Doors are everywhere. Cabinets, ovens, microwaves, fridges/freezers, washers and dryers, closets, etc. The trunk and hood of a car, the glove box, center console, the little storage compartments tucked away all over modern SUVs, hell there's a door hiding the mirror on my driver's and passenger's sun shade in my car.

Feels like are more things with doors and not wheels than things with wheels and not doors. So many buildings and cabinets and dressers and whatnot. Actually, think of an apartment building. A 1 bedroom apartment will have at least 3 or 4 normal doors plus cabinets and the fridge, times the possibly hundreds of apartments in 1 building, plus probably a couple dozen for maintenance, common areas, and elevators.

I am in Canada, and most large appliances (that are not built in) have wheels so that it's easier to clean behind them a couple of times a year. The wheels are fairly small, and completely hidden.
Furniture with wheels, like my dresser, aren't as common. It's mostly older, solid wood construction, and the wheels are just as small and hidden as they are on the fridge.
If your larger appliance doesn't have wheels on it, we often buy after-market wheel kits for them. That kit has 32 wheels per appliance in order to spread the weight.

Turnstyles, revolving doors, Lamborghini doors, elevator doors, single direction sliding doors, flaps (given that pets use them), bidrectional swing doors, single direction swing doors, saloon doors, doors with the sliding cover windows like that are on doors that you need a secret knock for, screened doors. Suicide doors (- cars)/french doors (- buildings), airlocks on a space station, any and all doors on vehicles. any and all doors on toys assembled ideally but if you make a Lego door it counts and if you make a doll house door it counts. Any door you make with arts and crafts supplies.
Why would windows be counted as doors? I would grant that any solid portal that can be opened and closed to allow access is a door, such as cupboards, junction boxes, and some windows. But many windows are not able to be opened or closed. I wouldn't think those could count, because that's the essential function of a door.
I say wheels: trucks, trains, planes, chairs, skateboards, roller skates, toy cars, small cabinets with wheels, bikes, motorcycles, scooters, wheelbarrows etc have more wheels than doors.

I had this thought too, then I realized the office chair I'm sitting in has 5 wheels, and the cabinet with my printer has 4, but my office only has 1 door. There are many biological things you could easily consider a door, but there are no biological wheels.
Also planes have doors to enclose their wheels. When not in use as well as doors for the passengers and pilots to enter the plane. I think on average there are more airplane doors than airplane wheels.

Wheels are used all over the place. Not just on vehicles. Sliding doors, drawers, vehicles have wheels inside of them for belts, lots of machinery uses wheels. Wheels are essentially the best way to move stuff linearly, so they have a lot more applications than doors.
Depending on what counts as a wheel, I counted our vehicles, bikes, trailer and came up with 22. Then counted doors - things that are on hinges with handles to open/close that divide one room from another but not cupboard doors and came up with 26. If I add cupboard doors would be a bunch more. But then I could probably find more wheels - wheelbarrow, other machines?
Depends how generous we are with the definition of door. Do we consider any sort of opening a door? Is the way bugs get into the ground a door? If so, then doors. Otherwise it's probably wheels. Easily doors. Every house has a ton, every building has a ton. Cars are mostly even on the door to wheel ratio leaning towards more wheels but not enough to offset.

Is a door hinge a wheel by that definition? It's circular (plus some extra but if we count gear wheels that should be fine), solid and turns on an axle.
Door: a barrier to an area that can be opened and closed and is attached to the wall(s) of said area. This would include cabinets and garage doors but not drawers or most glove boxes.
Wheel: an object that rolls itself forwards and backwards. This would include toys with wheels but not balls or steering wheels or rollers (they roll other things not themselves).
How many doors does a revolving door count for, one for each partition in the device or as a single door?

Not the guy your responding to, but there are tilt panel doors that are literally a big flat plate that gets pulled up along a rail with no hinge, and roller doors which are essentially corrugated sheet metal which just flexes into a roll, then back out again.
Sectional garage doors are the most common garage door where i live and i assume this is the type you have in mind.
I'm currently sitting on a chair that has 6 wheels, but my room only has two doors, so driving doesn't really have much to do with it. If we were only talking about cars, most of them would actually tip the scale toward doors anyway, especially if hood and trunk count as a door as a lot have 4 wheels and 4 doors without counting those.
What about look-a-like doors? Its (probably) well known that Lego is the biggest tire manufacturer. So all those speed champion sets have 4 wheels, and 2 doors that don't open, but most people will still call them doors.

To settle on an answer, we need a sufficiently precise definition for both "door" and "wheel".
I'm going to argue from the definition that a door as a manmade object intended to allow the passage of a person from inside an enclosed region to outside of an enclosed region, or vice versa.
Similarly, I'm going with a wheel being a manmade object intended to support the weight of an object attached to, or resting upon it, and designed to smoothly rotate to allow the attached object to move.
Because I have allowed for very small wheels, while requiring doors to be pretty large, I suspect wheels are more numerous. Ball bearings are probably the most common wheel, and there are at least 2,000 of them in my house, plausibly enough to outnumber the doors on my house, my car, and every house and car in my neighborhood.
For me, a characteristic feature of a wheel is that it is circular, not spherical. Which would disqualify ball bearings.
Doors are harder to define though. Since there can be doors for non-people. For example dog doors.
I would define doors as "manmade object that sits between an 'inside' and 'outside' which can be closed or opened. And has the main purpose of letting things in or keeping them out". But for that you'd have to define "inside" and "outside". And would include windows, since they let air and light in and can be closed. I wouldn't consider a window a door.
I think you have to increase the amount of doors that you have accounted for. Simply because a door can also mean something like a dollhouse has a door in it you can't argue that that's not a door you could argue tons of model cars and Lego vehicles and everything else like that also outdoors in them they are not large enough for a full size person however they are small enough for a man-made percentage to then cross through. So I think you have to widely increase the amount of doors. However I still believe that the amount of doors do not outnumber the amount of wheels overall.

1 office chair has 5 wheels. Almost every home has at least 1 office chair. And if we look at hospitals then it gets even worse because there are a lot of the beds have wheels.
And then we can go even further. A lot of curtains use rollers which are wheels. So if I just look at my apartment, I probably have 15-20 doors(cabinet doors, etc. but a lot of the normal doors are sliding doors which use wheels) and probably 50-100 wheels. And that is probably undercounting the wheels that are there by a lot.

Cabinets man. Look around in a kitchen or bathroom, every single house in the world has a ton of doors.
Hotels, they're basically made out of doors (including furniture and appliances). Cruise ships take it to a whole other level.
Commercial lockers. It's ridiculous how many doors these spaces have.
Wheels probably wins because of the ridiculous amount of toys, but it's a fight.

I don't know if this is true, but when I was doing training in the tyre industry, one of the leaders liked to ask, which company, globally, manufactures the most tyres? obvious answers included Michelin and the like. Their answer? Lego. apparently they pump out more rubberized tyres than any other car tyre manufacturer
again, not sure if actually true, but it makes me think there a lot of wheels out there. however, Lego also makes things with doors...

The materials are different, but a Lego tire is like 2.5 grams. A car tire is, let's say, 10kg - some are lighter, others heavier.
Michelin alone produces like 200 million tires a year, Vs Lego's 300 million, so car tires use more materials by several orders of magnitude, it's not even close.

Gears. The car's transmission alone has probably 30 meshed together on its own, not to mention gears are in everything. Bearings too. Is a sphere a wheel? Casters, slide rails with wheel runners, washers, and conveyor belts feel like they deserve a spot as they are round locomotive devices.
Doors also are very rare in nature, but a rock pretty regularly forms the right shape for a wheel.
I might be missing the forest for something that looks like trees, but it feels like there are overwhelmingly more wheels than doors.

It gets so much worse than that. Is an electrical switch a door? It's a straight bit that bridges a gap and rotates on a hinge. How about gears? Do gears count as wheels? They're round, they spin, and they apply mechanical forces on their perimeter.
You can actually attempt to answer a question like, "are there more dogs or cats?" because dog and cat are relatively specific. You might quibble whatever wolves or lions count, but adding wild animals to the numbers won't change the math much. But door or wheel? Those are objects much harder to pin down.

Easily wheels. Every roller bearing in things like drawer slides, sliding closet doors, sliding shower doors, sliding screen or glass doors, etc. are technically a kind of wheel. A single door could have multiple wheels. Garage door segments with multiple wheels as rollers pre segment. Cars, bicycles, scooters, skateboards, motorbikes all have multiple wheels. Wheels aren’t just for locomotion. 18 wheel trucks have only two doors but obviously 18 wheels, not including any hand-trolleys it might have in the back for loading/unloading. Trains have multiple bogies usually with 4 wheels each and two to a car, 8 wheels per car and maybe two to four doors.
But wait, what about an office building full of hundreds of doors? Think of every office chair with multiple wheels. Desk drawers. Office carts. Elevator pulleys, doors, and guides.
Wheels win.
Way more wheels than doors.

I see your wheel argument but want to add cabinet/closet doors to muddy the waters. My non-representative bathroom has 6 doors and no wheels. Then there are developing countries that often don't have wheels on their drawers and doors and rely on hinges more.

It really depends on the country I've been to latin America and most people there have doors on their cabinets from what I've seen. Wood and labor there come pretty cheap. We'd need to get a good idea of an average house in India and China to make an educated guess.
One thing I'm pretty sure about is that there are more wheels being created now than doors.

Ok I think this actually has way too much speculation and is asking the wrong question. Instead of "in your opinion globally are there more x or y", why not quantify it? Specifically in your instance, does your living quarters and personal belongings and other places you frequent have more doors or wheels? Go count them. We can actually solve this with enough data.
For me it's doors by a long shot. Almost nothing in my life has wheels. I live frugally and cheap furniture usually doesn't have wheels. I don't own Lego as other comments suggest. Drawers are not doors. Gears are not wheels. Eyes (wtf) and widows are not doors. The breakdown in my life is:

In my life it’s wheels by a long shot. 36 doors. 120 wheels. And that’s counting anything remotely like a door - stuff that’s sus. But all the wheels are 1000% clearly wheels. There are wheels everywhere.
Edit: and I’m NOT counting the little wheels in all my drawers, or any of the many wheels I encounter and use like shopping carts. It’s SO totally wheels. :)

I'll push back on the gears are not wheels statement. They serve the exact same function as wheels (as in they spin to allow something else to move or spin relative to them), just with teeth to add friction and make the ratios less dependent in the specific diameters and/or flaws in curvature (give them a large thing to grab onto to prevent small variations from having an impact).
Though I'll grant that hinges aren't wheels (while they do have an axle and involve spinning, the hinged object itself is more like the wheel than the hinge.
Also drawers, if they have tracks, have 2 or 4 wheels each.

There are hinges that use wheels, though, but I would agree that a standard door hinge is not a wheel.
But is a motor a wheel? Maybe not a servo motor since it can't completely rotate but a stepper or most other motors can freely rotate as much as they wish.
Pulleys are considered wheels - your vehicle is loaded with those.
Ball bearings... Just counting those alone would put wheels above doors in my house.

a door handle has a latch assembly which is arguably a wheel, as is the turning cylinder, if it has a lock it could have a bunch more "wheels" too, and the "rose' (the round part that covers the hole the cylinder passes through to connect the two handles) could also be a "wheel" depending on your definition.
One could count a hinge as a wheel as well.

Not every cylinder is a wheel. Not every handle is connected to a door, and not every door has a handle. Sliding doors are doors, but not drawers. Cabinet doors are doors but not windows. A hinge is not a wheel. Plumbing isn't a wheel. Your capillaries and glands are not wheels.

Every time I've seen this come up, it turns into a kind of coastline problem. The closer you look at everything we've built you just start finding more and more doors and just as you think it must be the winner you start seeing all the wheels that go along with them (or vice versa).
It's impossible to know which one wins without very clear (and limiting) definitions of "door" and "wheel". Those definitions would have to be equally restrictive to both "doors" and "wheels" or else the limitations decide, not the world we've built around us. I posit that anyone claiming to have an answer have made up their own limits of what "counts" and those limitations are likely not equally balanced.

A bicycle has two wheels right?
Well, what about the bearings? Those are basically little wheels, should we count those? Now hold up a sec, inside the bearing, there are either balls, or rollers, which actual like little wheels for the bearing to turn on.. so maybe a bike has like... Over 40 wheels on it.
Personally, I think I'm going to go with wheels over doors. I can think of a lot of doors that have wheels in them, but I can't think of that many wheels that have doors in them.

A wheel needs an axle, so the bearings aren't a separate wheel, but part of the larger wheel. You can have multiple wheels on the same axle, but not on the same plane. It gets more complicated when wheels are attached to eachother like on a truck.
In the same vain, I think doors need atleast a frame and a large sheet of some kind to close it.
Wheels definitely still win by a large amount though, think of all the factories with machines with dozens of wheels in them

Also, bearings have inner and outer races, so technically, the inner race could be considered an axel.
I think this definition of "door" is probably too restricted at the same time. When I moved into my house, I had to take some doors off to get the furniture in. The doors are still in the basement. My wife sometimes asks me what we are going to do with the doors in the basement. If someone was down there, they would recognize them as doors that have been removed. By your definition, those doors aren't doors. As the same time, the lid on a dumpster meets the definition of a door, so maybe the definition you have is too expansive?
The point is, the question is confusing because wheels are doors are concepts that we have, and not strictly defined objects.

It's wheels, it's always gonna be wheels, most things will have 3 to 4 wheels, trucks have 2 doors 4 to 8 wheels, then you have the trailer that usually has 8 wheels and 2 doors, then you have any industrial machinery that pulls something throughit, because rollers are wheels, also, now I know people will say that houses have lots of doors, but think about it, your vacume has wheels/no door, your fridge has 4 wheels 2 doors, no matter how you try to play this game, wheels always come out on top, they're infinitely more important to modern society than doors are.

The contents of those apartments contain wheels, gears are wheels, so anything that requires gears has wheels, so a proper clock is filled with wheels, then you have rollers, any sliding door will have rollers, thus having wheels, immpretty sure some of those slow self closing door mechanisms have cogs in them, so more wheels. Your fridge has 2 wheels to make the motor work, so more wheels, nearly every single slide out drawer has wheels to help the draw slide out, so say 4 wheels each drawer and you have like 5 drawers, that's 20 wheels, your vacume cleaner has wheels, some beds have wheels, wheels will always out number doors.

Cas have 5 doors max, if you class the steering wheel they have a minimum of 5 wheels, so at worst a car zeros itself out, a bonnet/hood is a lid, so that doesn't count as a door, factories throw the door to wheel average right out the window, there's way more wheels involved in a factory or warehouse than there are doors, no matter how you spin it, wheels always come out the winner.

I dunno, I think a lot of those "round shit that spins" are defined as wheels. A pully consists of a wheel and something stretched over it and pulled. A gear is literally a "toothed wheel". I could see an argument that a typical ball bearing consists of 2 wheels, an inner and outer.
Still though. Doors are everywhere. Cabinets, ovens, microwaves, fridges/freezers, washers and dryers, closets, etc. The trunk and hood of a car, the glove box, center console, the little storage compartments tucked away all over modern SUVs, hell there's a door hiding the mirror on my driver's and passenger's sun shade in my car.

What about on a van? My kids get in and out of the back door of our van, but when all the seats are up it's essentially just a big trunk lid.
Then consider kitchen cabinets. There's no other word for cabinet doors - they are necessarily doors. Is a trunk lid different from a car door in any ways that a cabinet isn't different from a house's front door?

I'm going to argue a little for team doors though I wouldn't say I'm confident.
Feels like are more things with doors and not wheels than things with wheels and not doors. So many buildings and cabinets and dressers and whatnot. Actually, think of an apartment building. A 1 bedroom apartment will have at least 3 or 4 normal doors plus cabinets and the fridge, times the possibly hundreds of apartments in 1 building, plus probably a couple dozen for maintenance, common areas, and elevators.
I do think how you define the 2 greatly changes the calculation, but I think doors do compete at least

There will also be a door for every breaker box, and for every mailbox.
But most drawers have 4 wheels per drawer, and each rolling chair has 5 wheels. My dresser has 5 drawers and it's on wheels, so that adds 24 wheels to the count, without adding a single door. I still think the wheel are very far ahead, even in aparment buildings, even before taking gears, bobbins, and spools into account

I am in Canada, and most large appliances (that are not built in) have wheels so that it's easier to clean behind them a couple of times a year. The wheels are fairly small, and completely hidden.
Furniture with wheels, like my dresser, aren't as common. It's mostly older, solid wood construction, and the wheels are just as small and hidden as they are on the fridge.
If your larger appliance doesn't have wheels on it, we often buy after-market wheel kits for them. That kit has 32 wheels per appliance in order to spread the weight.
When you add that a lot of drawers here use these types of slides, which adds 4 wheels per drawer, we have some kitchens with over 100 wheels in them.

Do we only count wheels on vehicles? Or do toys count? What about my toddler's cozy coupe? Wikipedia says that pulleys are a type of wheel, too.
I'm not gonna do any real math or anything but I would guess that just the vehicles and toys would push wheels far above doors.
But if we include wheel-like, we have to include door-like, such as flaps. Would we include, say, drain plugs? Taps? Gates - both fences and electrical? Drawers?

flaps if they're considered a point of entry, then yes. Drain plugs are plugs not a point of entry, so they don't count. Gates and fences are considered doors, taps, idk what those are probably not. Drawers are not a point of entry, so no, they don't count.

Suicide doors (- cars)/french doors (- buildings), airlocks on a space station, any and all doors on vehicles. any and all doors on toys assembled ideally but if you make a Lego door it counts and if you make a doll house door it counts. Why would windows be counted as doors? I would grant that any solid portal that can be opened and closed to allow access is a door, such as cupboards, junction boxes, and some windows. But many windows are not able to be opened or closed. I wouldn't think those could count, because that's the essential function of a door.

I had this thought too, then I realized the office chair I'm sitting in has 5 wheels, and the cabinet with my printer has 4, but my office only has 1 door. Then there is my secret bookcase door, but it has 2 wheels. Counting everything door and wheel in my house comes out pretty even. But doors would win if you count cabinets as doors.

There are many biological things you could easily consider a door, but there are no biological wheels.
Also planes have doors to enclose their wheels. When not in use as well as doors for the passengers and pilots to enter the plane. I think on average there are more airplane doors than airplane wheels.

Wheels are used all over the place. Not just on vehicles. Sliding doors, drawers, vehicles have wheels inside of them for belts, lots of machinery uses wheels. Wheels are essentially the best way to move stuff linearly, so they have a lot more applications than doors.

Depending on what counts as a wheel, I counted our vehicles, bikes, trailer and came up with 22. Then counted doors - things that are on hinges with handles to open/close that divide one room from another but not cupboard doors and came up with 26. If I add cupboard doors would be a bunch more. But then I could probably find more wheels - wheelbarrow, other machines?

Depends how generous we are with the definition of door. Do we consider any sort of opening a door? Is the way bugs get into the ground a door? If so, then doors. Otherwise it's probably wheels. I think the general definition for what we consider a wheel (without getting really loosey goosey like I was before) is much more broad. A door is something for a person to open and close. A wheel is a round thing that spins. Even if you're thinking something like "well, buildings have a lot of doors, and there are more buildings than cars..." Consider that a lot of furniture has wheels. Drawers have wheels. My dishwasher has a "door" but the racks have wheels. My office chair has 5, maybe 10 depending on how you count. I've got like four in the house I think. That's already like 40 wheels from just office chairs.

Real talk here: is there a class of mathematical problem where trivial set sizes lead to provable (and sometimes intuitive) conclusions, but real world data sets become uncountably large, thereby being unsolvable? I want to say all this resembles NP-hard in that way (e.g. picking small teams for basketball is easy, huge is not), but we're not doing any real math here.

According to merriam-webster: a circular frame of hard material that may be solid, partly solid, or spoked and that is capable of turning on an axle.
So anything round that turns on an axle. I think wheels probably wins.

This can cover a wide variety of things as well. Is the battery cover on the remote control a door? Is the lid on my water bottle a door?

Yeah, that definition seems good to me. I still think wheels wins, but the numbers for both are so absurdly high there is no reasonable way to conclude which has more.

Is a door hinge a wheel by that definition? It's circular (plus some extra but if we count gear wheels that should be fine), solid and turns on an axle.

I don't think a door hinge would count, it is more a lever with a pivot point. The door knob might count though.

and there sure as hell there's more trolleys than there are doors there (even if you count all the freezer section doors)
Toys with wheels can easily even the playing field of doors vs homes in households.

Okay attempt to define the 2.
Door: a barrier to an area that can be opened and closed and is attached to the wall(s) of said area. This would include cabinets and garage doors but not drawers or most glove boxes.
Wheel: an object that rolls itself forwards and backwards. This would include toys with wheels but not balls or steering wheels or rollers (they roll other things not themselves).

How many doors does a revolving door count for, one for each partition in the device or as a single door?
Does a wheel count as the circle or the assembly? Does a two wheel caster on a chair count as 2 wheels or one? Would a desk chair with 5 casters count as 5 wheels or 10?

Not the guy your responding to, but there are tilt panel doors that are literally a big flat plate that gets pulled up along a rail with no hinge, and roller doors which are essentially corrugated sheet metal which just flexes into a roll, then back out again.
Sectional garage doors are the most common garage door where i live and i assume this is the type you have in mind.

I'm currently sitting on a chair that has 6 wheels, but my room only has two doors, so driving doesn't really have much to do with it. If we were only talking about cars, most of them would actually tip the scale toward doors anyway, especially if hood and trunk count as a door as a lot have 4 wheels and 4 doors without counting those.

What about look-a-like doors? Its (probably) well known that Lego is the biggest tire manufacturer. So all those speed champion sets have 4 wheels, and 2 doors that don't open, but most people will still call them doors.
Hell, hot wheels has so many cars with wheels, than I would say even including the opening doors that infects make for their nests, I would vote for more wheels.

To settle on an answer, we need a sufficiently precise definition for both "door" and "wheel".
I'm going to argue from the definition that a door as a manmade object intended to allow the passage of a person from inside an enclosed region to outside of an enclosed region, or vice versa.
Similarly, I'm going with a wheel being a manmade object intended to support the weight of an object attached to, or resting upon it, and designed to smoothly rotate to allow the attached object to move.
Because I have allowed for very small wheels, while requiring doors to be pretty large, I suspect wheels are more numerous. Ball bearings are probably the most common wheel, and there are at least 2,000 of them in my house, plausibly enough to outnumber the doors on my house, my car, and every house and car in my neighborhood.

For me, a characteristic feature of a wheel is that it is circular, not spherical. Which would disqualify ball bearings.
Doors are harder to define though. Since there can be doors for non-people. For example dog doors.
I would define doors as "manmade object that sits between an 'inside' and 'outside' which can be closed or opened. And has the main purpose of letting things in or keeping them out". But for that you'd have to define "inside" and "outside". And would include windows, since they let air and light in and can be closed. I wouldn't consider a window a door.

I think you have to increase the amount of doors that you have accounted for. Simply because a door can also mean something like a dollhouse has a door in it you can't argue that that's not a door you could argue tons of model cars and Lego vehicles and everything else like that also outdoors in them they are not large enough for a full size person however they are small enough for a man-made percentage to then cross through. So I think you have to widely increase the amount of doors. However I still believe that the amount of doors do not outnumber the amount of wheels overall.
